Quality red dot for the price. I don't need a closed emitter, I'm not going to be using this red dot in adverse conditions. Mostly the range and in my nightstand gun safe. The glass is clear with no tint to it like some other red dots. Auto brightness is probably going to be too dim but it can be deactivated. It's a feature I never needed so I don't care about that. The build quality is great, fit and finish look good and zeroing was simple and easy with the provided tool. My first holosun but it won't be my last after this experience! I have a couple cheaper red dots that are well known value brands but this one is definitely worth a little extra. ... show more

The HOLOSUN HE407C-GR X2 / HS407C X2 2 MOA dot is a great red dot sight that performs exactly as described. The Shake-Awake feature is handy, but I prefer using manual mode so I know I’m not wasting any battery life. Brightness and dimmability are excellent, and the dot is nearly spot-on out of the box — only needed minor calibration. It pairs perfectly with my C+H Precision adapter plate on my S&W M&P 2.0 Competitor full-metal 9mm. It looks a bit small at first, but you don’t notice the size once you’re shooting; still, I wouldn’t put it on anything much larger than this platform. As long as you understand this is a 2 MOA dot you should be happy. I debated about getting the 407 or 507 and decided on the 407 and the dot is pretty small. Which is great for accuracy, not as great for ease of acquiring the dot if you’re not used to one. But with practice it definitely gets easier. Still, a 6 MOA dot would be much faster for someone new to red dots I think. But as far as quality and reliability, I haven’t had it long, but so far so good. I’m happy with it. ... show more

I got this item and initially started a return as it would seem to not turn on. PLEASE NOTE The way this sight is designed, it does not work well at all under household LED lights! The lights mess with the sensor/solar panel on top and recognize as NV mode and you will not see the dot. Try old school light or sunlight before you assume its junk like I did. Ok I don’t screw around with nock offs or b grade gear on my guns. I don’t trust my life to entry level junk. So I forked out the money for the trijicon RMR. Then as I began competing I learned that while the rmr is the standard for pistol optics it’s a standard that doesn’t make sense. The field of view is better, the battery life is better, shake awake is an awesome feature, this newer version with side load battery is amazing no more need to re zero when changing batteries. The solar backup stores your zero and the sight stays mounted. Same mount pattern as my RMR. About 1/5 the price and way more durable. Two things I don’t like. 1. I don’t like the auto brightness adjustment feature. Too slow for actuall transitions in a stress environment. However it is Easy to set it to manual mode and leave it alone and the shake awake will remember your last brightness setting. (Also btw no shake required to turn on the optic. I can’t pick this up without the optic being on. That is awesome!! If I have my gun in my hand I know the optic is on.)2. The other thing I don’t like is that holosun quit including a mounting plate for rail mount applications. Those are a pain to shop for and usually more expensive than I think is warranted. I own 5 of these sights (paid full retail btw) in different configs of 407c and 507c and use them on pistols and back up optics for carbine rifles with magnified optics. it’s great. And for the price I can forgive holosun for leaving the rail mounting plates out after spoiling me. I don’t hate my RMR. This is just a better product in features, quality, and price. While the RMR is just tacti-cool. Buy the holosun and spend the money you saved on ammo and training and other expensive gear. Would I trust my life to this product? Yes. ... show more
