Frequently asked questions

The Solar Failsafe feature on the HOLOSUN HE510C-GR allows the sight to remain powered when exposed to sunlight. This means if your battery dies, the sight can still function using solar energy. It automatically adjusts brightness based on ambient light conditions, ensuring optimal performance in all environments.

The HOLOSUN HE510C-GR offers models with either a red or a green dot option, but not both in one unit. You need to select your preferred color when purchasing. Each color variant retains the same features, including multi-reticle system (2 MOA dot and 65 MOA circle), shake awake, and waterproof capabilities.

Yes, the HOLOSUN HE510C-GR Open Reflex Sight is waterproof, making it suitable for use in rainy conditions and rugged outdoor environments. Its durable design ensures it can withstand adverse weather conditions, maintaining reliability and performance when you need it most.

The Shake Awake feature in the HOLOSUN HE510C-GR significantly conserves battery life by automatically deactivating the LED during periods of inactivity. Upon detecting any movement, the sight instantly powers on to your last brightness setting. This ensures that the sight is always ready when you need it, without having to manually turn it on and adjust settings.

  • My go to Optical
Color: Black Style: Multi-Reticle: Green
Absolutely love this. It's my standard now for all my long guns. Very well made, durable, and the tech is awesome (auto sleep, solar failsafe, shake-awake). It just works without you having to think about it. Battery life is essentially a non-issue; I've had mine mounted and running for months without issue. The multi-reticle system works well, I run the circle-dot for fast target acquisition at close range and can switch to the 2 MOA dot when I need precision. Glass clarity and size is excellent, no distortion, and the 65 MOA circle is bright and crisp even in full sun. Mounting is solid, holds zero through hard use with no drift. ... show more

  • Picking Real Capability Over Brand Worship
Color: Black Style: Multi-Reticle: Green
You may want to sit down for this.....I thought long and hard about this, and I couldn’t decide between the Holosun 510C or an EOTech. The prestige of an EOTech is hard to ignore. But once you actually compare them, the 510C just makes more sense. It’s lighter, the battery lasts ridiculously longer, larger window, solar panel, it can even run without a battery, and it has shake‑wake....which is the top reason in my opinion. People say the EOTech is built tougher, but then I watched a 510C abuse test. They threw it in the air 15 feet, multiple times, straight onto the ground. It kept zero. They froze it solid and defrosted it. It kept zero. (EOTech failed this test because it uses laser technology.) Then they shot it with a shotgun at 10 yards. Guess what… it still worked and kept zero. Titanium housing. If you’re telling me you need more durability than that, then your technique is clearly flawed ...it’s not the optic. I couldn’t justify paying more than twice as much just because the American military uses EOTech. Of course they use it...it’s American‑made, not because it's the best (but they are good nonetheless). I’d rather make the right choice than be a follower. I don’t mind EOTech, they’re great optics, but anyone talking smack about the 510C just because it’s not an EOTech is a follower who knows nothing and should be ignored. They’re both good, but Holosun takes the lead (unless you're using night vision). If so, ignore all this. Plus, I got the green reticle for the Florida sun...works great. It’s even basically “parallax free” like the EOTech. I’m very happy with this optic. Ukraine has been using it in real combat from my understanding. I’m not at war, and for home defense, CQB training, and range days, I’d rather have something lighter, with shake‑wake, and more than enough capability that can absolutely handle abuse. The whole “open emitter is a problem” argument is ridiculous. Show me someone who actually had an issue...and if you do find that one guy out of a million, ask him if the half‑second wipe actually mattered. If he jumped in a mud pool, his EOTech has to be wiped too. My Holosun will outlast the rest during the apocalypse, and when I can’t find a battery after 5 continuous years of operation, I’ve have the solar panel. The EOTech smack‑talkers will already be zombie food by then. In all seriousness, both are nice, but Holosun's new technology and design is currently ahead...all for half the price. It is what it is. More expensive doesn't mean better. I don't own a Gucci purse and I never will. It's a fad that gets too much credit. Only reason to get EOTech is if you must have American made...which is fine....but if you own a Samsung or drive a foreign car, then you already crossed that line. I'm looking for the best when it comes to my optic. The Holosun is great. If you weren’t considering Eotech anyways, then perfect....this one is very nice. I own several brands. Quality is much greater than price with this ... show more

  • Awesome dot with modern features.
Color: Black Style: Multi-Reticle: Green
Quality dot here. Smaller and much less expensive than similar dots in this category. AND it has shake awake. Installation is a breeze with the lever. All in all - this is an awesome dot sight and I would even venture to say I like it better than the EOTECH EXP - but what do I know; it’s personal preference. ... show more

I have been using EOtech and wanted to try an alternative. This holosun is a good product. I have it mounted to an arms and it performed well. Was able to Zero it quickly. I’m happy with the purchase and would buy again. When comparing it to my EOtech: * the sights are clearer * has a little more features, * it’s slightly smaller * looks not as heavy duty (but I’m not trying to drop or bang it around). ... show more

  • Great optic
Color: FDE Style: Multi-Reticle: Red
I’ve been using the HOLOSUN HS510C-FDE-R Red Multi Reticle for several weeks now, and it has exceeded all expectations. Right out of the box, the build quality is impressive—rugged, well-machined, and the FDE finish looks fantastic on my rifle. Multi-Reticle System: The ability to switch between a 2 MOA dot, 65 MOA circle, or both is incredibly useful. It gives me flexibility for both close-quarters and precision shooting. Solar + Battery Power: The solar failsafe is a brilliant feature. Quick Detach Mount: The QD mount is solid and makes it easy to move between platforms without losing zero. Wide Field of View: The glass is crystal clear, and the sight picture is wide and unobstructed. Target acquisition is fast and intuitive. This optic is perfect for anyone looking for high performance without the premium price tag of other brands. It’s held zero through hundreds of rounds and rough handling. I’d absolutely buy it again. ... show more

  • Great green dot sight
Color: Black Style: Multi-Reticle: Green
Best green dot sight I own. Shake awake feature with auto on and off are the features I was looking for. I love the different reticle options and the green is highly visible. Holds zero incredibly well at 25 yds on my 9mm Pcc. Battery life is great with the solar fail safe just makes this an absolute must have for any firearm that allows for a picatinny mount. I would absolutely recommend this product. ... show more

  • Beats RMR and Vortex dots. Best value red dot out there. Beats RMR and Vortex dots. Best value red dot out there.
Color: Black Style: Multi-Reticle: Red
I've had an RMR and a few Vorted red dots. The RMR had the dimming issue I resolved with an antiflicker plate and I loved it. The Vortex dots aren't sexy but they just work. I could punch a penny at 25 yards with both. This new Holosun however beats them all. The features, construction, and options put it above the competition at almost half the price. Perfect cowitness with the BUIS that came with my B&T GHM9. Took a considerable amount of left to right adjustment, but the up down was dead on. The shake to wake feature gives it true "Go Gun" status. No fiddling with buttons to turn it on. In a bad situation you don't want to have to try to turn one on when you really need it. Pulling it out of your bag will bring it to life and you're ready to rock. Autodimming is also a great feature my RMR and Vortex dots didn't have. Once enabled you will see a noticeable and immediate difference going from dark/dim to brighter areas. Works excellent outside. The feature is disabled by holding the + button for 3 seconds. This would be ideal if you're in a shaded environment and your target is outside in a brightly illuminated area. In the higher brightness settings you can still see the reticle when you point it towards the sun. You won't lose your dot in bright areas. The reticle options are also very hand. 2moa dot will help you plink pretty far down range and the larger 65moa reticle will give you fast acquisition at closer range. They defiently both have their place. And neither the RMR or Vortex dots offered multiple options. The battery life is supposed to be incredible. I haven't had it long to know, but all testing has shown you'll have years between battery changes. Keep in mind it does come with a spare battery tray so you if your grip has storage you can keep the included torx tool and spare battery with you when it becomes an issue. The solar feature is reassuring. Worst case scenario youre in the field or fight and the battery dies. If you are outside in the sun, or have enough ambient light the dot will still work. If SHTF and batteries are no longer available, you'll still be able to use it. The value, man.. It is just a no brainer. Half the price of an MRO or RMR. More features. More rugged design. The Alamaba Arsenal torture test includes, pouring water on it, throwing it 20ft into the air and letting it hit the ground, freezing it in ice, beating on it, and SHOOTING it with a shotgun, and it still held zero. The quick release mount also saves you an extra $150 if you were running other dots and allows for a perfect BUIS cowitness. Mine fit a little loose when I first installed it. I used the included tool and tightened the mount one turn and it clamped down with the force of an Amazonians thighs during Snoo Snoo. Absolutely solid now and still easy to release with the convenient latch keeper. The picture is incredible. The thinner profile sides and large viewing window give a natural feel and you're not chasing the dot around. No toilet paper tube EFFECT or black glob in the corner like with the Vortex Sparc AR. With boys eyes open you hardly notice the frame. You just see everything as well as a dot in your FOV. I will probably buy another one for my next Scorpion build. Can't imagine anyone coming out with a better optic for the money. ... show more

  • Great red dot optic
Color: Black Style: Multi-Reticle: Red
Bought this sight in 2019 for $275. It is still working great. I have had some issues over the years with picking the optic up and it not being on. Im not sure if it was to do with the settings or what but I would think it was on auto off standby mode but I had to adjust it a few times before I could trust that it would just be on instead of being off because it was in one of the modes that the sight has that affects battery comsumption. So be aware of that if your using this for duty. It has clear glass and dot. It feels durable and has lasted well with being knocked around during normal use. Easy to install, just double check the mode settings before you set and forget. Love the look of it as not many other optics have this exact footprint. It has a look of its own like an eotech ... show more
