I bought this Toshiba Hard Drive as I was not aware you could not, or at least I was not aware I could not, save a system image to a flash drive which I originally purchased (SanDisk). The drive I wanted to save my system image to needed to be formatted NTSF. I actually changed the flash drive to that and it still didn't work. Since I'm getting warnings that my laptop hard drive may not last much longer, I needed to make sure I have things saved. I'll keep the flash drive as I'm sure it will come in handy. But I bought this Toshiba HD to save my system image. A warning or note about this Toshiba hard drive. I have a USB multi port device plugged into one USB port on my laptop. This external Toshiba HD does not like being plugged into that multi port device. It kept turning on and pausing making a clicking noise. I had to unplug the multi port device from the laptop. I then plugged plugged the HD in directly to the PC USB port. Once I did that, all worked as it should. I've saved my system image without any issue. I also have an external DVD RW drive. I wound up needing that to create a repair disc as you can't save a repair disc to a hard drive. It was requiring a disc. ... show more

I purchased this hard drive to store a backup of photos and essential files. This does the job perfectly. I’m not in love with the USB 3.0 connector but it is advertised in the product listing. I haven’t noticed an issue with heat, although I am not using it for anything intense. It isn’t too noisy. A great external drive for backup purposes. Four stars because the included software is low-quality (in my opinion) and the provided link didn’t work for me out of the box - had to search around online to try it out. ... show more

If you get this for a good price and need it it is a good value for what it is. Just be aware this is moving drive not solid state so more for home or office use not travel. Also these drives are a bit slow compared to SSDs and the smaller ones like this use a form of storage that allows more data but slows it down. Do a bit of research on this if it matters. If you need speed or plan to travel with it spend more and get a portable SSD. If you just want a lot of space to store some stuff affordably this is a good option. ... show more
