  • Solid thermal unit that works perfectly out of the box Solid thermal unit that works perfectly out of the box
The TOPDON TC002C Duo Thermal Camera is one of those tools that just makes life easier. It’s sleek and durable, made from anodized aluminum, and small enough to toss in a pocket or work bag without taking up much space. Plug it in and you’re good to go — no setup, no hassle. It just works. It's compatible with both Android and iOS, and even doubles as a USB camera on Windows (not something they advertise, but I tested it and it works great). Speaking to the Topdon quality, I have been using their other TCView thermal camera for several years now to diagnose PCB shorts, and it still works just as good as the first day I plugged it in. I tested this one on a "dead" PCB and was able to instantly spot the damaged component without any guesswork. I snapped a few thermal shots of the dog just for fun — the images came out about as expected for a thermal in its class/price range. I also appreciate the less "zoomed in" look that the TC002C provides, allowing me to have a wider view of my work surface. The TopInfrared app makes switching color palettes and reviewing photos and videos super simple, and being able to go back and see what temperatures were if needed is a nice to have. The TISR (Topdon Infrared Super Resolution) doesn't seem to do a lot to the image other than add some additional contrast, but I may need to play around with it a bit more to see how else it affects image captures. The app now has its own built-in AI, and Topdon provides 200 free queries to test it out. For the price, this is a solid thermal unit that I can recommend for anyone that wants to attain thermal capabilities without breaking the bank. ... show more

  • Great little tool, even if you have a full sized thermal camera. Great little tool, even if you have a full sized thermal camera.
So I have a full sized stand alone thermal camera I use for work, and while it’s great it is a pain when it comes to attaching images to a customers invoice. The other nice thing about this is it’s tiny and easy to stuff in a bag and always have it when you need it. It even comes with a padded hard sized nylon case to keep it protected. It has a set of cables, a female USB-C to Lightning cable as well as a female USB-A/USB-C to female USB-C cable that allows you to use this on older iOS devices as well as windows computers. Image quality is pretty good for the thermal camera. It does have the ability to overlay a normal image on to the thermal one, but to be honest I haven’t played with that feature to much but it seems pretty easy to use. For the price it is a pretty good unit. I like that its app enabled as opposed to a stand alone unit because app updates can easily add features. If you do mobile work or are looking to do some DIY home repairs, this is an excellent little unit. ... show more

  • Perfect first IR camera for home use
Color: Grey
Fantastic for roaming around the house looking for insulation problems. I also discovered it’s great for identifying devices that use power even while “off,” as they’ll be a little warm. It’s very compact and comes with a nice carrying case to keep it protected from dust and drops (though I wouldn’t put too much stock in the case protecting it from drops, even though it encases it in foam). The quality of the sensor, and overall build quality, is great. It’s also quite sensitive according to the specs. It cannot autofocus, but given the resolution it probably wouldn’t help much, and for stuff like insulation, it still works great up close. It’ll help you identify problematic windows and doors very easily, and whether a particular corner needs some extra padding. On cold days you can see where the beams in the wall are, and I can even see nails through the paint on some walls. The main reason I got this device is I wanted something compact that wouldn’t require charging, and took advantage of my phone’s hardware so that more of the manufacturing budget would go towards the sensor itself. No need to pay for the IR camera to have a screen, microphone, and battery when my phone already has all that. It’s a very convenient device that I would definitely recommend if you’ve never bought an IR camera and are looking for something affordable. Just be aware that there’s a bit of learning curve to IR imaging in general, so you should spend some time Googling or watching YouTube videos to learn how to identify problems correctly. Especially if you aren’t setting the temperature range manually, as the auto-range can exaggerate small variances in temperature. The more important thing to look at is the cold spot temperature. There’s also some basic guidance in the app to get you started, which is awesome. The only complaints I have are extremely minor, and some of which are unavoidable with this kind of device, but I figured I’d mention them. It’s a bit awkward to have it hang off the edge of your phone, and your hand can be in the frame depending on how you hold it. This isn’t too bad as it’s very light and my 15 Pro Max is slightly wider, and I can still get a good grip without my hand in the frame. The shutter closes for a second periodically by default, which causes the image to freeze for a moment, but this is intentional and helps improve accuracy. You can disable this feature, but I wouldn’t. I don’t find it that disruptive or frequent. Given the distance between the TOPDON’s camera and the phone’s camera, feature that transparently overlays your phone’s camera onto the thermal image can be misaligned, especially up close, but they do let you manually adjust the alignment. It’s still good for picture-in-picture though so you can easily recall or demonstrate what you were looking at. Horizontal photos save as vertical, but that’s easily fixed by rotating in the Photos app. The important thing is that the temperature points have the correct orientation, except for the scale on the side. None of these things really get in the way of my use of it. At this price, these minor issues are acceptable to me, especially because the sensor itself is good and I’ve otherwise had no issues with the iPhone app. They offer a subscription-based AI for image analysis, with 100 free prompts to decide if you like it, but I wasn’t particularly impressed by it. It doesn’t seem that specialized and mostly offers generic guidance, but I only gave it a few images out of curiosity. Besides, I’d rather just drop my images into ChatGPT Pro (gotta make use of that overpriced subscription somehow), though I’m not sure how much thermal imaging ChatGPT has in its training data, so proceed with skepticism. Overall, would HIGHLY recommend. It’s my new favorite toy, and has really improved my understanding of my home’s insulation. ... show more

  • Affordable state of the art IR camera
Color: Grey
My familiarity with IR imaging technology goes back 50 years when state of the art resided in esoteric sensors like indium antimonide and platinum silicide up to the present with microbolometers. This TOPDON sensor also uses a microbolometer and in combination with excellent processing electronics makes possible an IR camera that is close to Arthur C Clarke's definition of magic and yet affordable in the consumer world. I have compared it to my FLIR Scout II 640 and am mightily impressed. Its resolution in the near field (1-3 meters) is superb. It has a wide variety of adjustable settings that refine the image but will take the IR imaging novitiate time to master. It surpasses my FLIR Scout in the near field whereas the Scout excels beyond 25 meters and that is due to each being optimized for their respective imaging realms. It offers imaging in colors and black and white, the latter being my preference due to better contrast quality. It is sensitive to long wavelength IR (8-14um) which brings it well into the realm of natural heat radiators like our bodies and physical objects. It also is very good at resolving fine temperature differences which is a standard metric of merit for these devices. Finally, the designers were brilliant in that they incorporated camera still and video capabilities that usually add high cost to the purchase price (yet it costs 16 times less than my Scout which has only scant such capabilities). So far I have only one criticism: the USB-C connection does not griip well so only a slight bump on the camera causes it to break connection and require resetting into the receptacle and restarting. That is sufficiently frustrating to cost one star in my rating. Nevertheless, I strongly recommend this TODON imager to school teachers and amateur scientists wanting to explore an undiscovered country. ... show more

  • ★★★★★ An Essential Tool That's Already Paid for Itself!! ★★★★★
Color: Grey
Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2025 I don't write reviews often, but the TOPDON TC002C Duo has earned it. I bought this with a few household projects in mind, but it ended up saving me from a serious headache within the first few days. I had a pesky hot water leak under my house—not a huge gush, but a constant drip whenever the water heater was on, wasting water and energy. I spent ages trying to find the source. I unboxed this thermal camera, and within minutes, the bright, clear heat signature of the leak stood out against the cool ground. I found the exact spot and was able to fix it the same day. For that reason alone, this tool has already paid for itself. My Experience: * Build & Packaging: Right out of the box, the quality is apparent. The included carrying case is a perfect balance—it isn't bulky at all, but feels solid and provides what I'd call optimal protection for a sensitive piece of equipment. * Setup & Compatibility: Setup was incredibly easy. I downloaded the app and was running in minutes. I have tested this on my iPhone 16 (with USB-C) and my Motorola G 5G (2024), and it works beautifully and seamlessly on both devices. * Ease of Use: The in-app instructions are well-written and easy to understand. The standout, however, is the AI mode. It genuinely makes the device infinitely more user-friendly, helping to analyze what you're seeing and removing the guesswork. Performance: The "Duo" feature, which blends the thermal image with the visual one from your phone's camera, is a game-changer. I snapped a photo of my friend in a warehouse, and the effect looked like something out of the Predator movies—you could see his heat signature overlaid on the real world. While that's a fun example, it's this exact feature that allowed me to see precisely which pipe was leaking under the house, not just a vague warm spot. Final Verdict: This is not a toy; it is an essential, powerful diagnostic tool that is surprisingly easy to use. I bought it for future jobs, but it's already proven its worth. I honestly can't wait to play around with it more to become even more familiar with its capabilities. If you're a homeowner, a DIYer, or just a tech enthusiast, you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend. I will add photos later as they are on my iPhone and I'm currently writing this review on my Motorola ... show more

  • Solid buy!
This camera has become one of the most invaluable tools in the shop. Its image clarity and sensitivity make it easy to spot overheating circuits, failing relays, parasitic draws, and other electrical issues that would otherwise take much longer to track down. It’s equally useful on the mechanical side as well, great for identifying cooling system restrictions, uneven brake temperatures, and verifying A/C or thermostat operation. Build quality is solid, and the interface is simple. The ability to quickly capture and share thermal images with customers adds a professional touch, and for the price, the performance is impressive! ... show more

  • Amazing quality, much better than I expected Amazing quality, much better than I expected
I recently picked up a TOPDON TC002C thermal camera, and it’s been surprisingly useful. Setup was quick—plug it into the phone, open the app, and it’s ready to go. The app is easy to use and shows clear temperature readings in real time. The thermal image quality is good for the size and price. It clearly shows hot and cold spots, which makes it great for checking things like 3D printer bed temperatures, electronics heat, HVAC issues, or insulation problems. The temperature readings seem consistent and accurate enough for DIY and troubleshooting work. I also like how compact it is. It comes in a small protective case and is easy to carry around. For a portable, phone-based thermal camera, it does exactly what I expected. Overall, it’s a solid tool for home use, diagnostics, and general curiosity. Not a professional-grade unit, but excellent value for the price and very practical. ... show more

  • Awesome product with accurate readings Awesome product with accurate readings
Let me start off by saying the 8MP visible-light camera paired with the 256×192 thermal sensor works very well. The Pictures are sharp and perfectly aligned with the thermal image, so my reports look more professional without any extra editing. Temperature accuracy is spot-on (I cross-checked with a Fluke and it’s within ±2 °C). The refresh rate feels smooth at 25 Hz, and the USB-C connection works flawlessly with both my iPhone. The new picture-in-picture and fusion modes are genuinely useful on site, and being able to swap between iOS and Android with the same device is a nice bonus. I can honestly say for the price, this is easily the best consumer/prosumer thermal camera you can buy right now. If you do home inspections, Automobile repair, HVAC, electrical troubleshooting, or just like cool tech, the TC002C Duo is 100% worth it. I highly recommend this awesome Thermal Camera. ... show more
