  • Expensive but it has already paid for itself
Model: C5
Well made, rugged, good performance and the software menus are easy to navigate. Good battery life. Bright clear screen is large, making viewing easy. Drops right into a jacket pocket, easy to carry. We use it to spot bad chips on power amplifier circuit boards. You can't see it with the naked eye, but this camera shows the overheated chips glowing brightly on the screen. The boards are diagnosed in minutes instead of hours. For that reason alone it was worth the price. If you're new to infrared imaging, don't expect lots of megapixels, that would cost you a fortune. Instead, if you need more resolution just get closer to the subject. The resolution of this camera is adequate for my application. It has good file-transfer features which I haven't used yet. It also has another use that is equally wonderful. If a horse or cow doesn't come home at night, this camera can quickly spot them a long distance away. Likewise, a quick scan of the pasture confirms all are present and accounted for. It's better than a flashlight because they stand out among objects that conceal them such as fences, trees and bushes, which appear dark in the infrared image. ... show more

  • Important utility tool
Model: C5
Very important utility tool, -1 star because startup takes about 50s. But for on the go use, users need to capture, walk a minute or two, then capture again. Could have a standby mode since battery is limited. USB-C charging and file transfer is good. Purchased once in 2022, was hoping for new model, but new model was too expensive, so ended up with c5 again. ... show more

  • See the unseen
Model: C5
I bought the thermal camera for work. I inspect boilers and associated equipment. It is an excellent tool in this line of work. When I purchased it, my understanding of thermal technology was very limited but this camera is very simplistic to use producing high quality thermolgraphs. It has been instrumental in locating faulty insulation and various hot spots not visible to the naked eye. I plan to upgrade to the FLIR C8 for my next thermal camera. ... show more

  • Great camera, no complaints.
Model: C5
Fantastic quality, comes with a nice little soft carry bag, and overall does the job very well. I elected out of wifi since this is just for home electronics repairs, and it isn't pushy with updates. Overall, I got what I ordered and it does exactly what I needed it to do.

  • Bricked by Firmware Update, Warranty Not Honored
Model: C5
I paid around $850 for this thermal camera and used it lightly and professionally. I’m a contractor in Arizona and only used it after rain events to help locate active leaks—so very limited use in a dry climate. The unit became completely inoperable immediately after a manufacturer firmware update. This was not damage, misuse, or wear. The update itself bricked the device. When I started the RMA, the system showed the unit was under warranty, which is the only reason I sent it in. After receiving it, the company refused to stand behind the product or the firmware that caused the failure. To be honest, even before this happened, the unit was never great. It was slow, often had trouble connecting, and felt underpowered for a product at this price point. I tolerated those issues because I expected long-term reliability and proper support from a premium brand. At this price, with such light use, this product should last many years, not fail due to a routine firmware update and then be abandoned by the manufacturer. This experience completely killed my trust in the brand. I will not purchase another FLIR product, and I would strongly caution others to consider the risk—especially if you depend on this tool for professional work. Bottom line: Expensive, underwhelming performance, and poor warranty support when it mattered most. You're paying for the name, not the quality. ... show more

  • Value per $
Model: C5
2 things to know, the frames per second is noticeably slow. The picture size is smaller than most are used to by my guess. Being able to see hot spots in electronics, in the wall. Drawing power from a connection you can see the temp difference. Draft in a room, you can find where it is coming from. A hiding mammal you can see it.(if it moves the fps will be noticeable). Puddle on the ground, the temp difference can be noticeable. For what it can do I find it to be a good value for the price. ... show more

  • Wouldn't recommend due to poor battery life (holds less than 1 hour) and takes forever to re-charge
Model: C5
Edit to my review after they replaced the product (could not hold charge) with a new one under warranty: New review: Now the battery holds a very decent time after one charge, I can visit a few projects a day and the battery holds for many days! The camera still has some glitches where it resets on its own (turns off and on, not sure why), or freezes for a few seconds to self calibrate. Resolution is also not very high, but works ok for my needs. Old review of 1st unit I got: The battery takes the whole day to charge, then it drains about 50% in 15 minutes of work, and then it keeps draining completely to 0% within a few hours even if it is turned off. Not a good work tool for professionals who need it to work a few times a day with quick charges in the vehicle between appointments with clients. ... show more
