Incredible detail on all heat signatures. Able to see quite a bit, and I was actually a little concerned about making the purchase that I even tried to cancel the order...no bs. I have to say this is making Flir looking a little on the weak side. I own Flir imaging products, but this right here for a fraction of the price is incredible, unbelievable to the eye. Outperforms some of my Flir products but hey, someone had to score better. I would at least get this model, I am sure you would not regret the purchase. I will put it this way, I have different brand and more expensive device that just wont pick up a hot water line behind a wall, this thing here picked it up even after being 3.5” away from sheetrock wall. Dont believe me, check out the image on my review. The fact that you can take videos, use an app to connect and live stream it within the same network is actually extremely useful. I can be imaging something in one room while i have other people looking at the live stream. This is game changer for sure. Amazing features, great color pallets and the fusion function is exactly what you need to much better show people with detail what you are looking at. I would definitely buy this again, and I may buy an upgrade version. This is just crazy how well and how good the imaging is. Im sold, and thank you for uncancelling my order, whoever did that just did me a solid, and I am glad you guys did. Thank you for such a great product. I will definitely post an update after using this at work for about a month. Stay tuned….

I was hesitant of buying this due to the price but its a good buy. I bought a FLIR ~10 years ago and had to return it due to it being $$$$ So I thought I'd take a chance on the F2VW. I'm happy with the results and all the options it has. It does not feel cheap in anyway and as you can see from the image you can see the studs in the wall. Note that the outside temp was close to the inside temp so there wasn't much of a delta - so I would say this works well. There is a cheaper version of this but I like the picture overlay this one has and a few other options. I bought it to see issues in the house including possible roof leaks from a hail storm a few weeks ago. I'm sure Ill find many uses for this handy gadget. I've looked at many others and this one is the best fit for me.

I purchased this Thermal camera as I wanted to verify my Battery wiring work in my RV for my Lithium System. Along with helping to spot and visualize potential hotspots on RV outlets (most of which I have replaced with residential outlets as the factory Wirecon outlets provide poor connectivity on continuous high current loads). As a bonus my research on these pointed out that though you can't necessarily detect water, you can visualize its effects due to the cooling temperature change of a wet surface. This tool provides nice quality thermal image Fused to Visible Light image using dual cameras. For me this helps so much as when doing post analysis of the image with the HSF Studio windows application you can spot details like the labels on a circuit breaker or fixtures on a ceiling. Post analysis with the Studio application allows you to play around with different color palettes; see the image as Thermal, Fusion, Blended, PIP or Visual; Change from Histogram to Linear for the temperature spectrum and plot additional temperature points on the image with labels or turn all labels off. The iPhone app doesn't provide image manipulation but does allow control of the Thermal Camera and offers some options you can change on the camera with the added ability to capture videos while connect to the camera wirelessly on your phone if you need thermal video footage. The camera does seem to calibrate itself frequently so you may find yourself snapping an image more than once if it happens to calibrate while you are capturing. It boots up in about 10-12 seconds and it's ready do use. Included are some images from the F2VW. One image is an example of the Visual image quality of a breaker panel. One image is that same shot showing the Fusion view with the visual and thermal images fused together. The last shows drops of water on a linoleum floor using Fusion mode with Black Hot (the water appears very bright and easy to spot).

I love this addition to my tool chest. The screen is a good size and it works flawlessly. I use it to find studs behind drywall and in my RV behind the luan. The temperature difference between the stud and the space between is just enough to make it out. It’s not like Superman X-ray vision but it’s pretty cool. By chance it showed that one of my LED pancake lights had an excessively hot controller up in the ceiling. That find paid for this purchase by saving me from something unfortunate.

For the money, you just cant beat it. Only thing a little better is a thor001 and thats $600 easy. Thor001 has a better screen, , refresh rate and 35mk sensitivity. but honestly, the f2vw has better color imaging. I just can’t spend an extra $200 for marginal performance improvements at best over the f2vw. The Thor 002 is probably the only competitor to this unit. But it has one major flaw and they removed it on purpose. Manual level and span. This is purposely missing from the Thor 002. I have researched so many thermal imaging cameras. The F2VW is the only stand alone thermal imaging camera offering everything the pros use. Including level and span settings and 40 mk sensor. I really want to love the Thor 002, but it missing a major pro feature. This is easily the best camera for $400 or less. Ive tried a few now and nothing compares to this bad boy and the price point. Get the thor 002 if missing a major pro feature like level and span doesnt matter to you. Otherwise the F2VW is the only real choice of pro thermal imaging cameras under $400. My only real gripe with the F2VW is spotty on the wifi connectivity. I could only get it to work via wlan. But hotspot connectivity has been a no go for me. 🤷

Longer review to come in a future update, but the initial review is thus. One thing to watch out for with this unit is that it has a physical lens protector shutter for the thermal camera but not the visible camera. This led me to thinking I might have gotten a bum unit because I couldn't seem to get it to work. BE AWARE OF THIS! My unit was fine! I had to open that lens protector is all. This unit is amazing. The thermal resolution and frame rate and accuracy and sensitivity are fantastic for this under $500 price range. I was just goofing around with it in the first few days of having it, as I expected to do for the overwhelming majority of my time owning it honestly, and after fiddling with the manual settings instead of automatic settings so I could see how it works with the temperature ranges at a fixed range, I inadvertently stumbled across a leak in my HVAC ducting in the ceiling that I have long suspected to be there due to an 8-12F+ spread in temperature between two of my bedrooms when we're having hotter days in Phoenix, but haven't gotten any of the HVAC companies to identify and fix that when I've had them out to fix this ongoing problem. But I was just goofing off walking through the house in the dark with it and the A/C turns on while I was playing, and suddenly there's this black spot that seemed to start where there is no vent, but it exists directly between two other vents, and follows a path of darker red that leads between the two vents. It was SEVERAL degrees cooler than the whole ceiling anywhere else in the house, and there are no other spots like that anywhere in the house (but there are some spots where the insulation is clearly not even or adequate near the edges of the outer walls where it gets yellow instead of dark red or black with the color mode set to go from black through red to orange to yellow to white, so I'm certain I've found at least one of the culprits in my uneven cooling). So that already pays for itself because it means no more fumbling in the dark for my HVAC repairs and no more wasting so much time and money trying to resolve it by basically throwing darts at a dart board blindfolded. I also found a water leak out in my front yard later the next night when I saw a spot that was notably cooler on the ground than all the surrounding areas. I might have found that without this device because the water is visible, but it's a small amount that I have probably seen several times before and assumed it was the neighbor's sprinkler running but this made me notice it and realize it's there 24/7, so it isn't just someone watering. On the negative side, the user interface is not awesome to navigate around. It gets the job done and is logical once you familiarize yourself with it, but know that it isn't awesome to use. It just isn't horrific to use. Some settings that are useful to change quickly are annoying to navigate to and adjust. A touch screen would make it awesome. There is a small phone style model using the same sensor and having the same performs specs as this unit for a few dollars more than this one from the same company that might be worth considering if you don't specifically want this form factor. It has a little smaller battery and battery life than this one, but it supposedly still gets 3+ hours out of a charge while this one gets about 15-25% or so more, and it has a touch screen which I think might be the only other major difference. Know that before buying, too - some of you might prefer that while other people may not because they want or need the form factor or battery life, or won't need to be adjusting the settings often. The app does let you SEE the screen from your phone, but it doesn't seem to let you change the settings from your phone, which would have addressed the user interface problems noted above. But it is nice and works reasonably well. I am pretty satisfied with this unit and it definitely performs among the best of its competitors. Check out Project Farm's reviews on thermal cameras - this unit uses the same sensor and has the same specs as the top HSFTools models in his reviews (the cheap one that does well uses a different, low resolution sensor - this one uses the sensor from the more expensive unit) if you want to see some well tested examples of what you can expect. The case is a little tight for everything but works better if you don't want to keep the included shoulder strap on the the device and store it with it. It does technically fit, but not super well. I think that covers all the negatives so far. There are other positives that I have not included here, so know that as well. I would buy this unit again if I had to do it over again.
