  • Been Waiting Many Years for This
I have been wanting a thermal camera for years. Finally found one with acceptable resolution at a reasonable cost. Works exactly as I had hoped. Did a thermal review of whole house. Found cold spots around windows, in walls and ceilings and could sometimes identify individual 2x4s. Had a concern about auxiliary furnace heat, but camera showed vents had correct temperature. Checked circuit breaker panel and misc. appliances. Checked heater under bird water pan. Checked led light bulbs and found that electronics in base gets quite hot. App works OK so far. Still low on the learning curve. Have to be careful about pushing the wrong button on the app because that changes settings on the camera. I am looking for a generic app to just view/record real time video on friends' phones as I survey their houses. No luck, yet. Overall, I am very pleased with the camera! ... show more

  • Great compact thermal cam
This little gadget has been a massive timesaver for me, very accurate and produces great heat mapped images fast. Being able to take snapshots to see what is getting hot and how hot it is compared to components around it is really helpful for diagnosing all sorts of stuff. From finding shorts on a board to just figuring out what could use a bigger heatsink, this thing is excellent! For the price I don't think I could find better. Very easy to use as well, its as simple as a point and shoot digital camera. The live feed you see on the screen updates very quickly or can be locked to a single reference source, with a press of a button. Incredibly sensitive if needed. Did a test to see if I could track down where one of my cats went and even after a minute, this was able to pick up the residual heat of their paw prints, you could see the individual pads. Absolutely fantastic camera! ... show more

  • Many uses, large screen and IR sensor
This is my first thermal camera, and I really like the large display screen, with a larger IR sensor than cheaper models. It was pretty straightforward to use, no issues with the menus. I like that you can update the firmware. I’ve already used it for some piece of mind checking the power cables on my video card. It was also fun to look around the house with the mode that overlays IR with a live image. Overall I’m very happy with it. ... show more

  • Surprisingly feature rich
The media could not be loaded. If this is your first time considering HSFTOOLS, let me start by throwing my full confidence behind this brand. I've used FLIR and SEEK cameras in the past, and while those are great cameras in their own right, HSFTOOLS manages to produce quality cameras that are on par with those for about half the cost to the consumer. I've had a few cameras from these guys and every time I've put on of these cameras into the hands of any of my engineer friends the review has always been "Dude, this thing is sick." Onto the camera itself. The ergonomics of the camera body are quite nice and it feels good in the hand. Seems to be the exact same frame as the F2W and the HF256, and similar to those two cameras the thermal image quality is excellent. There are really two main features that differentiate this camera from it's siblings that are worth talking about in detail: 1) Network connectivity. The value here didn't really sink in for me until I started to play with it. HSFTOOLS built out an app for interfacing with their cameras that is surprisingly streamlined and intuitive to use. Cameras on the same network as your device of choice (phone or tablet) can be pretty much fully controlled from the app. A lot of core settings can be adjusted from your smart device, and any recordings started from your device will be stored locally inside of the album section of app. Images and video captured this way are just ready to share and you don't have to worry about plugging in to transfer anything around. This network connection also means you can leave the camera alone if you're trying to monitor or generate time-lapse images of something. It really unlocks a lot of functionality for this device, and this app is very well polished. 2) Visual camera. The additional visual camera enables some very cool image options that help to build out the context of what you're observing. I've attached a short video using the picture-in-picture mode that hopefully highlights how useful this could be. Overall this is a fantastic piece of kit, and delivers a huge amount of bang for you buck. A+, no notes. ... show more

  • So fun to use this device!
This device is easy to use if you are a beginner which I am. It is not only fun to use in “ghost adventures” but it is actually really cool to take into the woods and use at night for just viewing nature. I feel it is great quality and worth the money.
