This is a very good product. The thermostat on my kegerator quit and the unit continued to run until it froze the beer in the line. This was such an easy hookup and only took a few minutes to program. It keeps my beer at between 34-37 degrees. It's much more accurate than the old thermostat. I guess I was lucky the compressor was stuck in the Run mode and didn't shut down. I'm not sure what a person would do if that happened. This is an excellent temperature controller. I use mine for a chest freezer, which I keep kegs of beer in as well as maple sap in the springtime. I have two chest freezers, each one of them using one of these temp controllers. This recent purchase is to replace one that was about 15 years old and the probe finally stopped working properly. I keep the probe in a hot sauce bottle filled with water so that the temperature swing happens slowly while I’m running the freezer up to about 36°F. I suspect that all that time with the probe in the water is probably what killed it but that’s OK. I’ve had it for 15 years and it was only $30 at the time. Things I really like about this temp controller is one it’s digital and it if you hang in the right spot, it shows the set point temperature and the actual temperature. You can adjust how many degrees it can vary before the compressor turns on again. You can also set the number of minutes between compressor shut down and start up to minimize wear on the compressor unit. ... show more

First, it was delivered very promptly, 2-3 days. I am truly amazed at the versatility of this device. I have used 2 Ranco controllers over the last 15 years and Ranco being a true reliable classic, the advantages of the Inkbird over Ranco are huge! The experience begins with a few moments of frustration as the Inkbird programming for so many functions is a bit loopy, but if you read the instructions carefully you will do okay .The Inkbird is fully wired and ready to go at half the price for a Ranco, make this a quarter of the price if you require both cooling and heating simultaneously, which Inkbird can perform, whereas you will need 2 Ranco units to do this. Inkbird can be set to one tenth of a degree, Ranco to one degree. Not a big deal in practice but the precision is there if you want it. Same for the calibration function, if the sensor is a bit off and you have an accurate thermometer to compare it to you can program a correction with a tenth of a degree accuracy. If you set the parameters very tight, say within a tenth of a degree, you will want to program the compressor delay function to protect your freezer or refrigerator. And did I mention the high/low alarm you can program for excessive high/low temperature. Now, as I mentioned, the Ranco controllers performed faithfully for 15 years before they died. Will the Inkbird last this long? I sincerely hope to be able to update this review 15 years from now. I would like to issue a correction to the above. The temperature can be set at whole degrees only, the actual temperature displays within a tenth of a degree. This makes the compressor delay function somewhat redundant. Update: Aug. 13, 2023 The sensor went off by 20+ Deg. F. and froze an entire 5 gal. batch of bottled fine lager. None of the bottles cracked, caps were pushed up and the essence, alcohol and flavor leaked out. Re-capped and reset temperature, hoping for the least damage. Going back to Ranco. Sorry guys, the fancy features aren't worth losing a fine batch of beer. ... show more

This is perfect for my needs. I have a very large Sulcata tortoise. And I live in the desert. He is full time outside in a custom box. Now thanks to inkbird, it's climate control. A swamp cooler in one side and heaters on the other. If the temperature drops below 81. Heat kicks on. If the temperature goes above 85 the air kicks on. ... show more

I had no idea this even existed!! Turns on a fan that's plugged in to it when temperature reaches a set temperature (that you choose) in our greenhouse and shuts off when temp drops back to set temp in the evenings. Saves SO, SO much time and worry if greenhouse is getting too hot during the day. Same thing in reverse if you want heat to come on and shut off at a certain temp. Before this, we'd watch a remote thermometer, but way too easy to get bizzy and forget. Or went shoping coming home to a 130° greenhouse. This is an investment in time and saving plants and we'll worth the cost. A quality product! We use a tall oscillating fan and it works so well with this product. I highly recommend! ... show more

I've been using this for a little over a week it's been working flawlessly to set up with super easy and works well with the ink Bird app that I already had. It's keeping my hearing tobacco at a perfect humidity level between 60 and 65% and operates my humidifier very well if it continues to operate in this way I'll highly recommend also the Wi-Fi connection is very stable for me and I love that I can see the humidity level throughout the day even when I'm at work because when you're curing tobacco leaves it has to be kept within a very finite range or it'll ruin it so I have to rely on this to keep it within range in my very dry climate where I live I don't use the dehumidifier portion of it cuz I don't need that but the humidistat portion seems to work well and it does have a provision to calibrate the sensor so that you get accurate reading it also allows you to set minimum and maximum settings with an alarm if it goes beyond those settings after testing it deliberately making it go into alarm it worked right each time it activated my humidifier when it was supposed to and then turns it off when it's supposed to I also love that it gives you a graph over time of the humidity level the sensor is in that's very helpful to know how consistent the device is working ... show more
