The monthly fee is more reasonable if multiple family members will use it, as the service is priced per machine, not per user. The onboard camera notes when your form is not correct and makes audible suggestions. The online coaches are positive, energetic and helpful. When you're new with the system, or a routine, it's hard sometimes to watch the instructor and do the move at the same time. When that happens, hit the backup icon - try doing that in a live class. The system establishes individual starting points per user, and tracks progress. There are so many nuances functions that there's always something new to learn, and hundreds of routines to try. I highly recommend this gym! As a parent of three kids that also works full time, the convenience of an at home workout is unmatched. I have previously tried gym memberships, personal training, and a home gym set up. While all of those things do work, Tonal just packages everything into a sleek unit where I don't to go anywhere and the unit blends in with my home decor without taking up any space. The programs/classes also help keeps me motivated. The convenience is remarkable. No more having to leave the house and deal with any gym germs! The design is unmatched. It is higher priced than some other options but it is definitely more economical than a personal trainer. It might not work for those who prefer a full range of equipment or those trying to build a gym on a budget. Ultimately, the best gym is the one that will get work out and Tonal is better than anything I've ever tried. ... show more

Have had this for 4 months now and have been using it twice a week, sometimes three times a week. It's a great product. Really. The software could use improvements but it's polished, the space savings are *insane*, and the safety features are unbeatable for someone that works out alone. The different weight modes (mainly: eccentric) are a game changer. Then there's the issue of the price. Mainly: the subscription cost. This makes me regret purchasing the Tonal 2. I have NO problem dropping $5k on this advanced piece of machinery that lets me have almost a full gym at home while *barely* taking up space. It's honestly impressive. The $60 a month REQUIRED sub, though.... it's almost insulting. I say "required" and I know that you don't have to pay it but I've seen/read videos/posts on reddit of the Tonal without a sub and it just leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. An unabashed cash grab because Tonal knows its clientele will just end up paying for it. Things that they could have left that honestly doesn't require a server/service to function: **weight modes** (this is a big one for me), custom workouts, and workout history. I can't return it for a full refund. Even if I could, I don't know that I would (now that I have holes on my wall perfectly spaced for the tonal, plus some markings that the installers wrote on the wall). If I could go back in time, though, I'd tell myself to not buy it, stick to dumbbells + resistance bands, and save myself the $5k upfront cost plus the yearly $720 I have to spend to make it usable. What a big difference it makes to have such a versatile strenght-training machine at home. I used to avoid going to the gym because it's crowded, the lights are too bright at night, etc. But I look forward to using this, and the programs are excellent. One of the best aspects of this machine is that you can turn the weight on and off at-will. This means that you can easily get yourself into position for your exercise without worrying about straining yourself (many gym injuries happen when you're hosting the weight into position to start the exercise). It has many other safety features, such as automatically turning the weight off if you get stuck. I considered the cheaper alternatives, but none are as versatile, high-quality, and they don't have the excellent tracking and programming. The arms move in 3 dimensions so you can do exercises that you can't do with alternatives, which tend to just have pully's on tracks. I also like how it doesn't take up much space - it looks similar to a flatscreen TV mounted on the wall. They're not cheap, but if it increases my health, capability and ability to enjoy my life and keep up with my young son, it's well worth it. ... show more

The worst customer service I have ever encountered. I bought one had it installed and three weeks later it died. Took another five weeks to get the replacement ( was under warranty) Arrived today the screen is mounted incorrectly in the frame so the screen is crooked and the left side is 1/2 inch more forward than the right side it is a refurbished one with tape all over the body and scratches on the arm. I called the company and after three hours was told that someone would get back to me within 48 hours. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT ! ... show more

Tonal has completely transformed the way I work out. What I love most is how effortless it makes the entire process, I just show up and it takes care of the rest. The guided workouts are tailored to me, and the machine automatically adjusts the weights to match my strength, often pushing me beyond what I thought I was capable of. I've owned a Tonal 2 for about 1 year now and its been a game changer. I have two young children and I was struggling to make it to the gym. I used to go to Core 40 about 3 times a week and wasn't able to do that either. I've been able to squeeze in 30-60 min workouts when convenient for me and honestly, I'm likely int he best shape I've been in a while because I've been able to stay so consistent because of the convenience.
