So I'm 66 years old and feeling it! I wanted something that would help me with strength and stamina without wrecking my knees and feet. This little gem is wonderful. I really recommend watching the video prior to trying to set it up, tho. There's lots of goodies already on the unit and it's not very intuitive. The video makes it all clear. After set up I watched the demos of the proper form and they are helpful in making sure you mount and dismount safely. I've used the unit twice now and it really does give you a good work out. Smooth movements that even on the lowest incline setting give you a challenge. It's easy to change from the foot-board to the wing attachment and using it feels very stable and secure. COVID destroyed my access to the treadmill at the gym and 3times a week Pilates at a fine studio. Muscles disappear quickly! When we finally could go back, most people weren’t being careful to protect others. And who knows yet how the virus might be circulating in the air conditioning system? I want to enjoy my future retirement, not lose it dying in a COVID-19 ward! Or surviving the ward with lung or heart complications. So I investigated many exercise systems and chose the Total Gym XLS because it is a simple system of body weight resistance that has lasted some 40 years. The cost is all in one whack, yes, but it is a fraction of a year’s gym and Pilates studio fees. Best of all, there are so many videos on YouTube, that you do have a personal trainer if you study them closely. Do that and you can make a fine investment! I can duplicate a lot of Pilates moves. I love the convenience of NOT dressing for exercise, NOT driving to and from the exercise and NOT squeezing it all into one hour because people are lined up for the equipment. I am addicted to the convenience now. And still get a great workout, scattered throughout the day or evening depending on my schedule. Just listen to your muscles and design different Workouts to target upper and lower body either separately or in combination. And I defy the manufacturers to recognize their machine in my bedroom! I was surprised that the machine was bigger than I expected when set up for use. The initial setup wasn't as intuitive or easy as the pictogram on the box made it seem. Figuring out where to connect the cables and other accessories to was challenging, but not impossible. The tension on the cables is very tight, and creates considerable resistance for working out. Unfortunately, one of the covers for the "feet" was cracked and I'm unable to determine where or if I can order a replacement. In the meantime, the machine works great and I'm enjoying using it several times a week. Love the workout cards that come with the system and you can watch additional instruction via YouTube. This my third Total gym. It’s AWESOME! I purchased my first total gym in 2000. This XLS doesn’t disappoint. As usual it’s easy to setup and so many exercises you can work on your entire body. Highly recommended!

My wife loves to exercise. I think about it ever so often, but that is as far as I usually go. However, on impulse I agreed to purchase a Total Gym XLS. GLAD I did ! The gym offers a variety of workout routines, and I have actually enjoyed working out with it. I spend 30 minutes each morning on the Total Gym, and though I have a long way to go, I am extremely pleased with the gym. It is extremely well made, and the design and ease of use is excellent.
