I purchased the Marcy home gym about 9 months ago. I wanted to wait a while before submitting my review. For starters, there were a lot of parts and they are not labeled. The pictures and instructions were helpful. I am not an engineer and at times I felt I needed to be to put this machine together. I suggest have 2 people as a second set of eyes and hands is very helpful. With 2 people it took us abt 7 hrs to assemble. The pulleys gave us the most trouble as the instructions were difficult to understand. All aside, once the machine was put together I have been very happy with this home gym. I have used in 5-6 days a week for 9 months and it still very smooth. It is very easy and convenient to switch between exercises. The only drawback is with the butterfly exercise, I need to move the seat all the way back because of the handles when doing the chest press. Not a big issue but worth mentioning. I also like the back row which is another reason I purchased this particular gym. Very easy to switch between all exercises. All in all this is a great home gym for the price. It did take a few weeks and was delivered in several boxes. The 200lb weight is more than enough. Highly recommend. ... show more

Update: Overall love this machine. Just have one concern after using for about a month the seat has split in two. The seat sits on a narrow bar not even the with of the seat. Their needs to be a metal bracket to take the weight of you butt when sitting to do workouts. Cons: Lat & shiver bar - really light in weight. Less than 5 pounds. Made of really then metal. Went ahead and bought some heavy metal ones to get the actual feel of weight in my hands. Butterfly axel bushing- don’t know why this was marked out of all assembly, but yet it was included with the rest of the assembly parts. Didn’t want it to go to waste so I went ahead and added them. Selector rod- to light. When trying to change weight the rod is not all the way down. That can be a lil frustrating. There was a combination lock included not really sure what to use it for. Installation: Easy 8hrs +/- alone to put together. Could be done in half the time with two people. Instructions were intimidating at first HELL the box contents were intimidating. So many nuts, washers, bolts, & different size parts. When I got to my last bolt and washer where the weight stack cover connects to the upper top part of the frame the threading on the frame inside was crooked. Had to put some extra elbow grease to tighten in a more straight position. Pros: The assembly manual was easy to follow. Did not have any extra pieces left over. Would highly recommend this product. Just like the good old days in high school. Lots of selectable exercises to do. Very sturdy for the it better be. This is not a cheap machine. Will definitely get my workouts out of it. ... show more

I did lots of research on various Home gyms before deciding on this one. I am very happy with my purchase so far. I was looking for a home gym that would last a long time (I have 3 sons ranging from ages 5-15 yrs old) so wanted something they could use as they grow older. I liked that the set came with 200lbs of weights rather than the 150lb weight that the standard Home gyms provide. Assembly was easy, it took me approximately 5 hours to assemble by myself. I did find times where it would have been easier with a second set of hands. The assembly instructions were not real clear at times and perhaps could be challenging for some. I did have a small handful of bolts that seemed to have messed up threads because they where cross threading. I repaired the threads with a tap and die set and moved on. The few assembly obstacles and unclear instructions are not enough to rate the product any less than 5 stars. I’m happy with the product so far! ... show more

There are many reviews on here, but this was my experience: This is an unexpectedly, clever, extremely well designed gym. It’s not only beautiful, but with all gyms closed due to Covis-19, I really feel like I got my gym membership back! The actual build itself is its own reward. And even though the instructions are intimidating at first blush, they are actually extremely well executed and I had no problems as the steps are perfectly structured and the parts are clearly numbered in the assembly manual. I noticed that it took some people 4.5 hours to assemble, some more than 8, but I assembled it at my own pace over a few days and thoroughly enjoyed the actual assembly. This gym feels underpriced, handsome, exceeded my expectations, and, oh, it works beautifully! It’s truly brightened this quarantine period. ... show more

This machine has been a bit of a nightmare. First of all, it's so massive you will need to schedule freight delivery for it (which meant waiting even longer for it). That required taking a vacation day out of work for my husband. Our particular driveway is rather narrow and very long so the truck could not bring it directly to our doorstep. My husband had to take it in multiple pieces from the top of the driveway into the house. Luckily it wasn't raining that day! Once in the house I choose to remove every piece and number them since they do not already come that way (it would be SO much easier if they did). The directions include only diagrams and no written words so if I could make it easier on myself I would. In the process of labeling I found a damaged piece (see pictures ). It looked like the threads of this metal item had rusted and gotten cardboard stuck in them. I at this point thought I could maybe use some Rust/lyme spray and a toothpick and clean it up. It was odd because the box it came in showed no damage. I had all the pieces out and labeled. I stupidly opened the top of the box the weight plates were in and just visually counted them and left them in the box. This process alone took an hour or so, maybe even longer. I decided I'd put it together the next night and had my husband throw all the boxes in the recycling bin since the following day was trash day. Stupid mistake. The next day my husband and I started to put it together (I, a woman initially tried to do it myself and found I needed help). When we got to the weight section we grabbed the box and started stacking. Half way through we found a damaged weight plate! It had an actual hole in it causing the whole thing to be warped. Again, there was no visible damage to the box it came in. At this point we couldn't continue. I contacted Amazon who offered a return (remember I've already trashed the boxes) or a partial refund and let me reach out directly to the company. I choose that option. I reached out to the company and they said they'd send out the parts and send me the tracking number. This machine was now covering my floor partially put together in my finished basement which doubles as a play room. I had to shut the room off and stop using it at this point. So, 4-5 days have gone by and I haven't received the tracking numbers. I reached out to the company again and was told there was a backorder of 6-8 weeks. I was fuming. I went back to Amazon who offered another free return or partial refund. I took the later. I appreciated what Amazon offered when they could have done nothing. Finally, the pieces came and we got to work. Putting this machine together took hours upon hours. Even with unbroken pieces it was still a nightmare. Eventually, we got it together and it seemed to work nicely. A week or so in and a carabiner just broke. Now I need to go out and find a replacement. I'm just waiting to see what else is going to go wrong at this point. Do yourselves a favor and look at another home gym. This one is just a headache waiting to happen. ... show more

After researching and trying to find a versatile home gym for an affordable price we decided to go with this unit. Assembly: the instructions for assembly are terrible. The pictures detailing assembly were on the small side. Really no written instructions at all. The parts packs were misnumbered, and both plastic bags that contained other miscellaneous parts both had holes in them which I'm guessing is why we were two #44 washers short. The cross piece that the weight stack sits on had a major defect. One of the holes that the upright support that the weight stacks slide on to was extremely warped causing the weight stack bar to lean 6 inches forward. We tried straightening it but it didn't work. We hoped that after the weight was on it would straighten itself out and it did thank God. This is definitely a two person job. Once you have an idea of what you're supposed to do it becomes easier but yet really failed with all the details on assembly. Use: only used it a few times since putting it together last weekend. So far it works well, but I really dislike a few things. The weights not being a normal even weight in 10 or 20 lb increments or being marked with their weight, the pads for the leg extension are very uncomfortable and seem a bit narrow. The seat is also a bit hard and it seems like for anyone of a larger size they may end up sitting too far forward even with the seat all the way back. The weight stack is constantly hitting the top of the machine and will sometimes get stuck. I'm only 5'3" so I think this wouldn't be useful for someone of average height honestly because you won't get the full range of motion for the workouts. The pulleys are stiff and the movement isn't smooth but that might change over time with use. Overall we're mostly happy with it, but I think on the future we'll spend more money for a bit more quality. ... show more

I’ve had this multi-station gym about a month and it is perfect for the price! I’m 6’4” and ended up building it on top of the wooden pallet it was delivered on to get a tall person’s height adjustment. I had to cut the pallet a bit and covered it with some black fabric ($10) from hobby lobby to make it look nice. Then I added and cut to fit some of those rubber exercise mat floor tiles. It turned out better than I expected. As many other reviewers said, the instructions are pretty bad. However, with the video and the instructions, it very doable. Took me a few hours over a few days but I wasn’t in a rush. Advice: leave the screws, nuts and bolts in their packaging until needed. But lay all of the frame pieces out so you can see and grab them easily. I accidentally put the arms on the wrong sides and couldn’t do the rows but it was an easy 5 minute fix. Great multi station gym and it absolutely DOES work for us tall people. ... show more

As always, I pour a lot of effort into investigating products before I buy them, and this purchase was no different. Unfortunately, there was not much out there to review. I was looking for a very sturdy, well constructed home gym from a company with a history and good reputation in the business. I've owned several Marcy products over the years and have been impressed with how the company has increased their quality over time. The market place is flooded with moderately appointed home gyms that top out at 150 lbs, but I was looking for something heavier that I would not grow out of. At 200 lbs (270 lbs resistance), this one fit the bill. My major concerns were how smooth and reliable the pulley system and general parts movements would be and how well I fit the equipment. Marcy (Impex) has another model that looks similar to this one and is sold in our local Dicks and Sports Authority. I first went to the store to inspect and found it disconcerting that the cable on the machines in the store were all wedged off of the pulley tracks, making it impossible to test the machines. After closer inspection of documentation for this unit, I noticed that the pulleys have cable guides, which were not installed on the store machines, which gave me some comfort. I was also curious why the one in the store was so much cheaper ($399) than this model even at 150 lbs, when they look identical. Again, after closer inspection, I could see that the physical mechanisms for the arm assembly are much more heavy duty with this model. I am a big guy (6'5") and need space to move. After using this for a couple of weeks now, I can say that I am very pleased overall. Setup was a long process, but not unexpected. I allotted a full day for this and it took the better part of that time. I did not rush, but opted to go slow and steady to minimize any rework. The lift action on all cables is very smooth and I feel the components will last a very long time. With all of that said, there are a couple of design areas that need improvement and would go a long way to making this a 5-star system. 1) The upper pads that support your legs for leg extension exercises are too narrow. You must squeeze your legs close to the center support, which makes the action less than natural and efficient. I am looking at purchasing a longer, solid metal bar from another source to replace this part. 2) There are plastic retainer caps that hold the pads onto the bar. I had to remove these because they were painfully digging into the underside of my thigh during leg extensions. Your leg naturally compresses the pad, only to run into the retainer cap. 3) The handles used to perform butterfly's is too long and close, painfully pressing into your chest during the movement. This would make it even more comfortable for women for obvious reason! Either the butterfly bar should be extended out from the machine an additional 3 inches, the seat moved back an additional 3 inches or the press handles reduced in size by 2 inches. I am also looking at shortening the handles myself. 4) On this model, there are no weight indicators on the shroud or on the weights to let you know what you are selecting. I've seen this on other models and would hope that Marcy would provide that most critical item on this one, as you currently have to count the individual weights or holes and look at the chart. Some of these items are easy to negotiate around, others not so much. These 4 items are refinements that would catapult this system into the indisputable best value in this class of machine. Nowhere else will you find a serious machine with 200 lbs raw weight and sturdy construction for this price. ... show more
