Made of oversized 14-gauge square steel tubing, the SM4008 combines the best of both worlds, helping you increase your muscle mass, strength, and stamina. The machine starts with a Smith-style press bar that includes adjustable safety stops and outside-the- frame bar catches. Safer than conventional free-weight stacks, the Smith design acts as a built-in spotter, so you don?t need to scramble to find a family member each time you want to do a bench press. You can also remove the utility bench to perform squats and other spotter-required leg exercises. Also included in the SM4008 is an independent-motion upper pulley system for cable crossovers. You can perform a variety of upper body exercises with the cables, including independent motion butterfly for your chest, tricep pulldowns, back extensions, and more. The independent cable system includes nylon pulleys reinforced with sealed bearings, 1-inch chrome guide rods, and steel aircraft cables rated at a tensile strength of 2,000 pounds. The SM4008 is just getting started, however, as it also comes with a footplate to facilitate seated rows; a total leg developer that tones and strengthens your quads, hamstrings, and glutes; and a chin-up bar for pull-ups and other back exercises. And, of course, the utility bench is fully adjustable, with options for incline, flat, and decline chest press positions. To ensure maximum comfort, the seat and back pad are made of boxed upholstery with high-density foam. The SM4008-- which includes two Olympic weight plate storage posts on either side of the frame (weight plates not included)--carries a two-year warranty.

  • Great workouts
Color: Black - 200 lbs
I’ve had this multi-station gym about a month and it is perfect for the price! I’m 6’4” and ended up building it on top of the wooden pallet it was delivered on to get a tall person’s height adjustment. I had to cut the pallet a bit and covered it with some black fabric ($10) from hobby lobby to make it look nice. Then I added and cut to fit some of those rubber exercise mat floor tiles. It turned out better than I expected. As many other reviewers said, the instructions are pretty bad. However, with the video and the instructions, it very doable. Took me a few hours over a few days but I wasn’t in a rush. Advice: leave the screws, nuts and bolts in their packaging until needed. But lay all of the frame pieces out so you can see and grab them easily. I accidentally put the arms on the wrong sides and couldn’t do the rows but it was an easy 5 minute fix. Great multi station gym and it absolutely DOES work for us tall people. ... show more

  • I liked the Bowflex in that it did fold up into ...
Color: Black - 200 lbs
I purchased this unit to replace a Bowflex I purchased some 12 years ago.....I liked the Bowflex in that it did fold up into a smaller space when not in use, was easy to move if needed, but that unit did take more time to perform a complete workout because of changing attachments, and hooking and unhooking cables, and in my opinion was really not the quality of this unit (at least when compared to the earlier Bowflex model that I owned)......Although this Marcy unit does not fold up like the Bowflex meaning it requires a bit more space when not in use, I had the floor space for this compact unit and I like using this unit much better because of the simple, compact design and the ability to get a complete workout without having to add and / or subtract components .....This unit is a quality product and I consider it well worth the price....One reason I rated it a 4 was because it is taller than the 80 inches high as advertised........My workout room is a remodeled storage room with a sloped ceiling from 102 inches to 82 inches.....This unit was the only such unit I found that I thought would just fit on the back wall of my workout area because of its advertised height of 80 inches but since it is 84 inches to the top of the front of the unit, it did not fit where planned.....(And of course I could not determine that until I had unpacked and read the instructions enough to hold the major components together to see if it would fit where planned......Once I saw it was 4 inches taller than advertised and did not fit in the area I wanted to place the unit in, I was faced with either repacking and returning, or rearranging the planned layout of my room by moving some other equipment and using this unit in a different, less desirable area.)..... I also rated it a 4 because of the assembly time......The four hours I saw in some areas did not get it for me......My time was at least 8 hours for the whole project ....Unpacking (excellent packaging) and sorting out all of the parts took me an hour or so....All the small parts were well numbered but trust me, they need to be because there are vast number of them and there is not one piece of this unit that comes assembled from the distributor....Assembly was very slow using a step by step picture guide in very small print (every large component, nut, washer, bolt, pulley).....You will hunt and sort parts and assemble a step at a time.... And you will most likely have to redo at least a couple of the assembly steps because the assembly drawings just are not large and clear enough to fully understand the first go around.......I found what I thought to be good welds, quality fit and paint for the large components, and I was impressed with the excellent hardware quality......Once assembled as instructed, the unit feels sound and works very well....I expect years of quality service out of the unit.....I would highly recommend this unit for a home gym workout.....I consider the unit well worth the money.....Just be prepared however to have plenty of room to spread out your parts and to take your time and enjoy the assembly journey.....I also recommend you save the assembly instructions for future reference and build this unit where you plan for it to stay for a long while.....Considering the size and weight (400 pounds) of this unit, it is not something that I think you will be moving from room to room on a whim...... ... show more

  • Pretty heavy duty for a home machine.
Color: Black - 200 lbs
This is not hard to put together. I literally used 3 size tools to put it together. It did take a couple of days to do (1 if you have the energy, I am 58). I also did it by myself. As long as you are good with tools (can turn a bolt) it will be no problem. I have read the "instructions were bad." I did not have a problem with them. Just make sure you go through everything and make sure it is there. Spread it out so you can see every part. All of the nuts, bolts and washers are in a package and separated for you. Just release them as needed. Also, this is not a small unit. Make sure you put it together in the location you are going to use it. I am 6 ft and the top is about 7 ft. For the price and a 200lb stack this is a very good unit. ... show more

  • Awful experience!
Color: Black - 200 lbs
This machine has been a bit of a nightmare. First of all, it's so massive you will need to schedule freight delivery for it (which meant waiting even longer for it). That required taking a vacation day out of work for my husband. Our particular driveway is rather narrow and very long so the truck could not bring it directly to our doorstep. My husband had to take it in multiple pieces from the top of the driveway into the house. Luckily it wasn't raining that day! Once in the house I choose to remove every piece and number them since they do not already come that way (it would be SO much easier if they did). The directions include only diagrams and no written words so if I could make it easier on myself I would. In the process of labeling I found a damaged piece (see pictures ). It looked like the threads of this metal item had rusted and gotten cardboard stuck in them. I at this point thought I could maybe use some Rust/lyme spray and a toothpick and clean it up. It was odd because the box it came in showed no damage. I had all the pieces out and labeled. I stupidly opened the top of the box the weight plates were in and just visually counted them and left them in the box. This process alone took an hour or so, maybe even longer. I decided I'd put it together the next night and had my husband throw all the boxes in the recycling bin since the following day was trash day. Stupid mistake. The next day my husband and I started to put it together (I, a woman initially tried to do it myself and found I needed help). When we got to the weight section we grabbed the box and started stacking. Half way through we found a damaged weight plate! It had an actual hole in it causing the whole thing to be warped. Again, there was no visible damage to the box it came in. At this point we couldn't continue. I contacted Amazon who offered a return (remember I've already trashed the boxes) or a partial refund and let me reach out directly to the company. I choose that option. I reached out to the company and they said they'd send out the parts and send me the tracking number. This machine was now covering my floor partially put together in my finished basement which doubles as a play room. I had to shut the room off and stop using it at this point. So, 4-5 days have gone by and I haven't received the tracking numbers. I reached out to the company again and was told there was a backorder of 6-8 weeks. I was fuming. I went back to Amazon who offered another free return or partial refund. I took the later. I appreciated what Amazon offered when they could have done nothing. Finally, the pieces came and we got to work. Putting this machine together took hours upon hours. Even with unbroken pieces it was still a nightmare. Eventually, we got it together and it seemed to work nicely. A week or so in and a carabiner just broke. Now I need to go out and find a replacement. I'm just waiting to see what else is going to go wrong at this point. Do yourselves a favor and look at another home gym. This one is just a headache waiting to happen. ... show more
