UPDATE***** Turns out I’m just an idiot! It’s not hart to set and it’s beautiful and functional! Enjoy! This clock, although plastic, is actually very pretty! HOWEVER, the chimes are very difficult to set. Unlike other reviewers my clock did not come pre set to stop at 9pm and start at 6am. My dear reader, my clock chimes ALL NIGHT! 1am, 2am, 3am! The clocke is nice, a little smaller than the one it's replacing. Got it as it was the only one that sounded like the old clock. The only part I don't care for is the second part of the chime which dings the number of times it is so if it's 7pm it dings seven times. My old clock would do the first part of the chime but not the second part. Takes some getting use to. It will chime from 5am to 9pm and then no chime which is nice so you can sleep. I didn't answer the question about sheerness as sheerness doesn't really have nothing to do with clocks. Sheerness is a seaport in N Kent, in SE England on the Isle of Sheppey, at the mouth of the Thames government dockyards. Sound: good sound a little loud, I used cotton pads to soften the sound a bit as it's against the wall where my son sleeps. Old clock was not nearly as loud. Miss the old clock. ... show more

I've not set the chimes, don't think I need them. Keeps Great time. Only time I had to change it was for the time change.

Size, shape, and function of this clock is spot on. Kinda makes one think it is an actual antique clock. Does takes many batteries to make it work though. Overall, love this product just stock up on batteries.

The clock has a rich look to it. The chime was very loud so I placed tape over half the speaker, it's perfect now. I really appreciate it doesn't chime during sleep hours. It should last for several years.

We love this clock. It is everything that we expected. Love the “no chime” durning normal sleeping time. The only thing that is of any issue is that the chime is loud. Wish there was an adjustment to lower the volume of the chime.

The clock is beautiful but the instructions are worthless. I've been trying to set the clock where it only chimes during the day and not at night. I have it doing the opposite and can't figure out these instructions. They make no sense.
