This ski rack is very easy to install, especially if you already have cross bars that include the T-lock track in them (I have the Thule WingBar Edge). It only took me about 15 minutes by myself to put this up on my car’s roof. The extension aspect of this ski rack is what had me sold. I didn’t want to have to step up onto my car in order to load/unload my gear. The extensions are super easy to operate and make loading/unloading a breeze. The matte black color is also a very nice touch since it goes along with my car’s color scheme. I highly recommend. I have 2 snowboards (side-by-side) and 1 pair of skis in the pictures shown. In order to fit more than 2 snowboards, the additional boards will need to be inverted and stacked under the right-side-up boards. There should be enough clearance from the car’s roof with the roof rack + ski rack to do this but I haven’t yet tried or had the need to do so. ... show more

Bought this pair for my wife's 2014 Ford Flex with Thule AeroBlades. Works great! Decided to use the included clamps for easy on/off during seasonal changeovers. The more permanent direct-mount options uses the included T-shaped bolts for sliding into the aluminum extrusion of the AeroBlades but doing so requires cutting sections out of the rubber inserts on the bars. I like the rubber inserts being complete as they help to hold lumber and ladders in place during the summer months (with straps of course). Removing the T bolts would be pretty easy but the rubber inserts would have multiple 4" sections cut out of them. Thus, I used the clamps instead. Took me 20 minutes to figure this out and install them. These, like all ski racks, make a bit of noise at highway speed but that is to be fully expected whenever you put anything on the roof of a car, even a "flying brick" like the Flex. As others have commented; the latch release is very easy to use with gloved hands. Grateful that the (4) locks and (2) keys were also included in the package. Fits perfectly and as advertised. Gives my family of 4 room to bring a friend or 2 (skiers only need apply). Will also fit across the roof of my 2010 Subaru Outback if I want to clamp them to some factor bars instead; versatile! Easy directions, just take a moment to read them through completely on the first try then you'll realize there are three possible mounting scenarios and which section to refer to.     • What you want for a large family and a large SUV

4 pairs of skis and a snowboard fit perfectly and the extender model is just what I needed for on top of a Chevy Suburban. Definitely makes getting that farthest pair off the top easier. Jacket and clothes stay clean, no zippers rubbing on paint etc. We attach the speedlink to the Chevy factory crossbars quite securely. It is tall enough to keep bindings off the roof but short enough to still fit in a standard height garage door AS LONG AS THE RACK IS EMPTY! Only the smallest pair of skis we have (128s) slides front to back a little, and only when they are closest to the release button, but they don't slide laterally at all. The knob for tightening the speedlink is plastic, which worries me a little, otherwise fits my needs exactly. ... show more

The usable width is only 19.6 inches. Both our boards are 11-5/8" wide at the tip and tail. We would have to overlay them to fit side by side. Trying to put 2 more upside down is completely out of the question because the folded up bindings would get in the way. M needs to be 2-3 inches wider. But the L is at least 6 inches too large for a family of 4. Very dissappointing. Not what I expect from Thule. I've been using their racks for years but I'll be returning this and NOT getting the monster SUV sized one for my sleek little sedan.... ... show more

Received it today. It looks much better design than my old flat top and more robust. By the way My old flat top was broken at the lock when I drove on free way and the snow board fly out from my roof and scrapped my car! the lock of this one looks better and safer...and hope when i start to use it it will give me the same feeling. The only reason I didn't give 5 star is the picture and description shows it comes with speedlink universal mount but it actually not. Not a big deal, I took the speedlink mount from my old ones and installed to this. Works perfect. ... show more

    • Love the lock barrel/key scam...

Normally I’d let some lite things fly but...my snowpack extender came with no lock cylinders or keys. Just one key blank. The snowpack itself is a pretty nice product, and this one is the most expensive rack thule offers. (340$) So I call thule CS and about an hour later the rep hears me out and asks me to provide Amazon order number, etc. I let him know I’m missing the 4 locks/keys it should come with. So far I’ve literally spent 500$ for aeroblades, 340$ for snowpack extender...no locks with anything...? What’s the point of any of this with the ability to lock anything??? I get an email a few hours later in which CS says they’re sending 2 lock cores and keys...WTF?!? Now I’m forced to go online when they finally show up and buy 4 more locks @ 16$ ea. Seriously THULE, your key/lock scam is ridiculous and will likely make me flop to Yakima next time. I’ve got another product of your coming my way and I’ll probably regret it. Please work on quality control and customer service. Rather than snake money out of customers that already are paying HIGH prices. ... show more
