  • Do not use a regular bike rack. Must have for any trailer, traveler trailer, or motorhome.
I purchased a regular bike rack and had it on the back of my travel trailer. Thank Goodness my bikes didn't fall off and harm someone or something. Regular bike racks are NOT supposed to go the back of a trailer, travel trailer, RV, etc. Reason being, the metal is not thick enough to handle the bounce/sway from the back ofa trailer. Take it from me, regular bike racks will not last. Plus, you could be held legally responsible for negligence. The Thule Range Bike rack’s steel is incredibly thick; double, if not triple the thickness of a regular rack. Plus, the bolts are heavy-duty, and its much heavier. any reviews that‘s complaining about the bolts loosening, they must not of read the directions. It clearly states to check the bolts tension after a certain period of time time. In addition, it states to regularly check to ensure they’re still tight. This is the same for any rack. The only negative feedback I can share is that you cannot extend the bike rack to open the trunk of your vehicle. To clarify, on a regular cheaper bike rack, you can pull the hinge and drop the bike rack so you can open the trunk of your vehicle or the bed of your truck. That being said, it’s actually an advantage and why this bike rack is so much stronger and sturdier because you cannot move any of the pieces and it’s bolted together. All in all, I highly recommend this bike rack for peace of mind, safety, sturdy, and reliability for traveling with bicycles behind a travel trailer, motorhome or trailer. Also, I paid $400 for the unit. ... show more

  • you get what you pay for
Solid, heavy duty bike rack excellent workmanship

  • NOT THAT GOOD
The rack is ok but could have been better. The clips that hold your bike on have plastic locking snaps that hold the zip connectors. They break easy and it's literally what holds your bike in place. Used mine 3 times now and ones already broke. Do not use when it's windy, you will regret it. Also this things is very wobbly, they give you a cheap bolt to go through the hitch pin hole. You will have to drill their hole bigger to be able to use a regular pin so it will have less room to wobble around. Its the true statement "you get what you pay for" with buying this. ... show more

  • Traveled 4300 miles on the ALCAN, no issues!
I had to drive my family from Alaska to Texas and needed a very durable, robust and safe bike rack for my journey. The roads through interior Alaska and the Yukon Territory are pretty rough at times and I didn't want to have the bikes falling off in the middle of nowhere. This rack is more expensive than many but it was absolutely rock solid throughout my nearly two week drive that spanned 4300 miles, four national parks, and more than a few potholes. I cannot recommend this bike rack more highly. If you are going to be doing a lot of driving, particularly over some potentially rough roads, but this and don't look back! ... show more

  • Worked great for 3 MTN Bikes
Very easy to install. If you are leveraging the 4" square bumper on the trailer with a bolt on hitch, make sure you reinforce the bumper. The bumper will twist/flex enough to pop out the end caps during the trip. The bike rack works great, and easily folds out of the way when the bikes are unloaded. My only complaint is with the lock. It snaps very securely into the riser when not used, and may take extra encouragement to fully extend the cable so you can actually lock the bikes. I had to disassemble the rack and lay the vertical piece on the ground, stand on it, and give it a real good tug to fully extend the cable the first time. It was so stuck I almost broke out my power tools and installed my own cable lock system. Once the stuck cable was addressed, the bikes easily fit on the rack and remained securely fastened the entire trip. ... show more

  • Came with the wrong lock
Solid, sturdy bike rack, but the wrong lock came with the bike rack. I emailed and attempted to call the vendor, never heard back from them.

  • Solid construction - a little big of wiggle on the hitch
The media could not be loaded. Just installed on my 2019 Tundra. Easy to install - I was not familiar with the “master” key so make sure you use that to insert lock. It is very well built. Know that it is high to lift the bike on a truck. Complaint - Too much wiggling in the hitch socket - see video. The bolt that locks the hitch is too thin and the lock is almost an inch away from the hitch when you lock it onto the bolt - I will put a rubber shim or something to mitigate but was surprised by the amount of play on this sturdy bike rack. The rest seems to work great and it folds down easily. ... show more

  • Great Purchase! Have used multiple times behind our RV
I purchased a tire mount rack prior to this and had nothing but trouble. i decided to spend a little more on the second one. I am greatly impressed by the high quality of this Thule bike rack. It is an excellent product and will last a lifetime! I also love that the hitch locks and it has a built in lock for the bicycles. ... show more
