  • You pay for what you get.
Size: Large (16 Cubic Feet) Style: Cargo Box
I shopped everywhere for this thing, the price is the same no matter where you look, but amazon had free shipping. This thing is big, and comes in a huge box. Thule is the one you want, don’t get a cheaper, lower quality one. It attached to the roof of our Acadia perfectly. The clamps go on and it’s done. It holds a ton of stuff, and it’s waterproof, with a very nice lock and key. And it looks sharp. We bought it for a beach vacation, as our Acadia is running out of room on the inside with 3 kids. We drove it 2 hours to the beach, in the rain. I was nervous. But you would have never known it was on top of the car, and all of our stuff was 100% dry. This thing met all my expectations. If I had to name some negatives, I would say attaching and removing this thing from the car is a little tough because it only opens from the passenger side. You have to really get up on the roof to secure the clamps on the driver side. I just used a step ladder, it was pretty simple. It weighs about 30 pounds, so one person can move it, but it’s a little bulky. Thule is a more expensive brand, but sometimes it is worth it. This is an example of you pay for what you get. If you want 100% confidence with your stuff on top of your car driving 70mph down the highway, this is your roof top cargo box. Can’t say enough good things about it. It was a big purchase for us and we were not disappointed. Very satisfied and highly recommended. ... show more

  • Disaster. Expensive Disaster
Size: Alpine (11 Cubic Feet) Style: Cargo Box
Seriously a nightmare! We had planned to use this to travel 3000 miles across country. We had almost everything in our pod and needed a little more space in our Cherokee, so I ordered this. Thule is supposed to be the best brand. We put 5 average size duffles in and headed out in our journey. Before we left we double checked and used the included straps. 150 miles into the trip we heard a funny sound. The plastic was broken and flapping open. We stopped and duct taped it. Fingers crossed, just get us across country. We had left plenty of room in case we bought anything while traveling across country. Another hundred miles and the plastic fully cracked blowing our items all over the turnpike. We got most back and pushed them into every corner of the Jeep. One even had to sit on the drivers lap. It took us 6 hours and 120 miles to rent a Uhaul. We had no choice but to leave the Thule on the side of the road. I wish I took a picture, but was too frantiic. This ended up costing 1100 $ and 10 hours of time. Complete disaster! ... show more

  • Very pleased, extremely quiet on the road, easy to install!
Size: Medium (14 Cubic Feet) Style: Cargo Box
After looking for months for a rooftop cargo box, I finally chose this one., mainly due to the brand as well as free shipping. I am extremely pleased with my purchase. It is very quiet on the road, and has not effected the fuel efficiency on my vehicle. It fits tents, sleeping bags, etc. I was able to install myself in about 10 minutes with no problems at all. I haven’t had any trouble with the lock as previous reviews suggest. The only negative thing I can say is it does seem flimsy when opening and closing, that being said, I love that it won’t lock unless it is closed properly and I haven’t had any issues. Shipping was fast and the seller communicated with me in relation to shipping times. I’d highly recommend! I’ve added some photos on my 2016 Rav 4 for those “measurement challenged” like myself who can’t picture how big it will be. I ordered the med size. ... show more

  • A good cargo box that I made better with a couple of easy, inexpensive modifications.
Size: Medium (14 Cubic Feet) Style: Cargo Box
This was exactly what I expected it to be. Two complaints that people had made in reviews I was able to fix fairly easily. One complaint was that the cargo box was not weather tight and water leaked in around the top lip when driving in the rain. I got self-adheasive weatherstripping at Lowes (about 3/8" by 3/8") and installed it inside the top lip so that it mashed against the rolled edge of the bottom when closed and locked down. Not leaks so far. The other complaint was that at highway speeds the wind coming up off the windshield gets under the top of the cargo box and forces it up allowing water to get into the box. I riveted a big strap buckle to the front middle of the top and bottom of the box. Now when I close the top, I can buckle the top to the bottom and cinch it tight with the strap and the wind does not lift the top up any. ... show more

  • Junk product
Size: Large (16 Cubic Feet) Style: Cargo Box
If it was possible to give no stars this would be the time. Product arrived broken. Locking mechanism is so poorly designed that the key eventually broke off in the lock. Had to drill the rivets that hold the locks in place out in order to open it. Called Thule and spent too much time on hold for no help. Cheap, flimsy, poorly designed junk. No more Thule products. This is just another cheap product that will end up in a landfill without ever being used. ... show more

  • Key breaks in lock easily!
Size: Large (16 Cubic Feet) Style: Cargo Box
Worked great for 2 trips..untol key broke in the lock. Then googled multiple reviews regarding the frequency of broken keys, how to replace key cylinder, how to TURN the key so it doesn't break!! Of course..this was AFTER reading all positive reviews. But when it worked it was great..too expensive to only use twice though. Locksmith could not repair without ruining the plastic since cylinder was rivetted in. ... show more

  • Fragile, but tough!
Size: Alpine (11 Cubic Feet) Style: Cargo Box
I read plenty of reviews here before deciding to purchase this rooftop cargo box, and my takeaway from it all was basically this: The lock mechanism is fragile. Make sure all 3 clamps are in place after closing before attempting to lock it up. Do not try to force the lock if it isn't moving. Your clamps must not be aligned or the box isn't completely closed. Haven't had any issues while keeping the tips mentioned above in mind. We installed this cargo box on our '93 Subaru Impreza with an aftermarket roof rack and have had zero issues. We took our Subaru on some OHV trails and this thing stayed attached flawlessly. The hooks are universal and should work on any roof rack as stated in the product pictures. 5/5 would get another Thule in the future. ... show more
