🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The product reviews reflect mixed sentiments regarding the bike rack. Some users lauded the carrier for its robustness and functionality, which performs well under extensive usage and prolonged journeys. Conversely, some customers encountered issues with the installation process, fittings, and the overall design of the rack, causing inconveniences such as inability to fit certain vehicle models or causing bike instability during transportation.

Pros

  • 🚲 The bike rack demonstrates robustness and longevity under extensive use.
  • 🌎 It performs well during long journeys and retains its functionality.
  • 🛠️ Most customers reported no issues during the installation process.

Cons

  • ⚙️ The hitch receiver only has threads on one side, restricting the locking pin's entrance, which could lead to problems depending on the vehicle model.
  • 🔩 The recommended locking pin with this rack doesn't fit according to some users.
  • 🚐 The design might cause the rack to sit too high on some vehicles, blocking the driver's view.
  • 🔧 The equipment doesn't come with the necessary tools specific to the unit, indicated by one customer.
  • 🚴‍♀️ Adjustments might be needed for heavy e-bikes with racks over the rear wheel.
  • 🛠️ The assembly instructions have been reported as unclear, leading to measurement issues during the installation process.

Should I Buy It?

Considering the variety of experiences, the decision should be weighed accordingly to personal needs. If you have regular bikes without heavy rear accessories, the bike rack may perform well, given the product's robustness and durability reported by many customers. However, if your vehicle model is peculiar, or if you are transporting heavy e-bikes, you may encounter issues concerning installment, fitting, and stability. Hence, approaches to make necessary adjustments would be required.

  • Tuff and sturdy
I have 2 Lectric ebikes with accessories weighting 70# each. The carrier is on the back of my 43’ fifth wheel trailer. I use a nylon strap around through the 6 holes that are provided at the cup where the front wheel rests in. The ratcheting hook, I removed the stops so I can remove the hook when loading and unloading the bikes, I have the hook come down onto the frame of my bikes since they have fenders & baskets. I also strap the bikes together at their baskets with foam padding in between. For additional security I use a ratchet strap to help hold the bikes in place. I live in Kansas City and first tested them last summer on a 250 mile round trip, last winter they went from Kansas City to Big Bend NP, Carlsbad NP, Phoenix, Joshua Tree NP and back home, just got back home from east side of Lake Michigan, Mackinaw City, UP and back home and this rack is doing job. Every state seems to have sections of bad roads that just pounds everything in our RV and the bikes stay secured! ... show more

  • Not stout enough to hold two 60 pound e-bikes.
Damaged bike finish. Back tire support slides too far out when in use, even with extra support. We had to put pipe clamps on it to hold it in place. The front tire support arm bent such that the bikes now lean back away from vehicle and are no longer vertical. We put on extra straps to hold the front tire in the cradle. I recommend looking for another brand. We are not happy with it and will replace it after only one trip/month!!! ... show more

  • Well built and will work in most applications.
Need to include the proper metric Allen wrench with the kit. The instructions are a little unclear on measurements. Bars are 52" long and that 26" to middle point. Instructions say 24" to mid point. Not sure if they've changed the length of material or what. Maybe I just don't understand? But that's what I see anyway. Doesn't really work for a front mount bike carrier. Sits up to high on front of truck blocks view. ... show more

  • Sturdy eBike Carrier
Easy assembly with clear instructions. Rides well on my pickup receiver hitch. Swings down if I want to lower the truck's tailgate. Holds my heavy, mid-fat tire electric bikes securely. Much easier to lift the bikes onto this carrier than into the pickup bed. I also use the bike carrier on a mid-size SUV, noticing the bikes bounce more on a smaller vehicle (a fault of the lighter tongue-weight capacity of the SUV, not a flaw with the bike rack). Be advised that you'll need a 15/16th wrench or socket to securely tighten the bolt-style hitch pin that comes with the carrier. I've used the bike carrier for over a year now and like how it works. ... show more

  • Product did not hold up
I bought this a year ago for me e-bikes. The front comes loose on the wheel. I only used it 10 times and it’s already broke. Spend the money for a nicer unit.

  • Great bike rack.
Love this rack. Same features as the very expensive Tule though not quite as robust. Certainly sturdy enough and literally takes only a couple of minutes to mount wife’s eye-bike and my mountain bike. Highly recommend. Some easier mechanism to lock to car would help.

  • Doesnt fit Telsa Y
The hitch receiver only has threads on one side, so the locking pin for the hitch MUST be inserted from the left (drivers side), as there are no threads on the right. Ideally, it should be threaded on BOTH sides, so that you could insert the pin from either side. This is important for vehicles that may have space restrictions around the hitch receiver. The plug for a hitch's electrical connections is often found on the left, so I don't understand why Rambo made the carrier this way. For instance, I have no problems with this rack on my truck, but the plug for the trailer-lights on a Tesla Y factory hitch receiver doesn't provide enough room to insert the pin. The carrier should be threaded on BOTH sides for maximum flexibility. It would be an easy fix for the manufacturer to implement. **** EDIT **** OK… a couple more VERY important cautions after using this a few times. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT… I say again DO NOT rely on the ratcheting arm to hold your front tire into the tire cradle. Mine has worked loose several times while driving, nearly resulting in the loss of my RadRover. Always use a ratchet-strap to hold the tire into the cradle (yellow strap in pic). Read the other reviews… multiple other buyers have had the same problem. This is clearly a design/manufacturing flaw. I also recommend a second ratchet strap from the crossbar of your bike frame down to the safety-chain-loops on your hitch. (green strap in pic) Honestly, if you’re in the market for a bike carrier, I’d probably tell you to get something else. ... show more
