  • The absolute best straps for kayaks
Style: 9 Feet
This is my second pair of the Thule straps - I have in one in each of our cars. They are extremely well-made and last a long time. They are very easy to use and are extremely reliable. For kayaks, they work really well since they are tensioned by hand. Ratcheting straps could damage your plastic kayaks. The plastic sheath goes over the metal buckle as you throw the ends over your car and prevents scratching of the car. They are worth the cost. ... show more

  • Awesome straps!
Style: 15 Feet
I bought a second set of these straps (Had the first set from the kayak rack) because they are better than other ratchet straps that I already had. They are awesome . . . the rubber cover over the metal connector is great because it protects your car (and cargo) from scratches. The length is perfect for kayaks, and you can connect two straps together to get a longer strap if needed. I transported a Queen size mattress and box spring on top of my SUV and used these straps, connected together. They were very stable for the whole trip. Thule products are often more expensive than others, but I have found that you get what you pay for. I would highly recommend these, and it's worth the money. ... show more

  • These cinch-down straps are superior to the ones sold at big box hardware stores
Style: 9 Feet
These cinch-down straps are superior to the ones sold at big box hardware stores. Thule makes outstanding racks, and these straps share the quality. These straps are clearly stronger and sturdier than the inexpensive store-bought straps. A rubber sleeve slides over the buckle to prevent scratching boat or vehicle. There was even a happy surprise: I always secure tag ends of tie down straps to prevent the tag ends flapping in the wind and scratching the vehicle, but cheap store-bought strap tag ends sometimes work loose and flap despite my efforts. These thicker, sturdier Thule straps do not work loose and flap. Also, cheaper hardware store straps eventually fray, these Thule straps appear to be longer lived. ... show more

Best straps on the market, the auto retract makes them top shelf.

  • Long lasting and do the job!
Style: 9 Feet
We’ve used these straps daily for years so this most recent purchase was for a replacement. We are full time RV travelers and these straps are used to transport our kayaks. With constant exposure to the elements, they last ones lasted for several years before the rubber over the metal clamp disintegrated. We highly recommend these straps👍 ... show more

  • Love Them!
Style: 15 Feet
Before I purchased the Thule straps, I was dealing with the general straps with those hooks (I don't know exactly what they are called). The hooks wouldn't fit all the way around my racks, so I was always nervous if they would stay attached. Then I found these Thule straps. I love them!! They are more than plenty long and once fastened, they stay tight. Due to the size of my little kayak and my little car, I can go around the rack twice (yea little!). They are expensive compared to those hook things you can buy at Walmart, but once you have these, you will throw those others away! All you do is wrap them around your racks and your boat, fasten them and then tie the surplus cord into a knot so it doesn't bang against your car. The other thing I learned was to tie a knot (lose) in the free end when taking the straps off - this prevents the cover from coming off and having to scrounge for it under your car, or, worse, someone else's car! Good luck, paddle on. ... show more

  • Well thought out and executed design, others have not followed despite years of opportunity now.
Style: 9 Feet
I've used these straps for over 5 years now. They cost a bit more than average and the engineering that makes them better is simple. However, no others have incorporated these simple common sense design aspects. It seems only Thule people have ever actually used their product enough to design it well. 1) Each side of the strap is easy to distinguish from the other, along it's full length, so you know when it's twisted or flipped. 2) The cam teeth are asymmetrical to capture the strap better. 3) The strap itself is heavy enough it's easy to handle, disentangle etc. 4) The end if melted off at an angle so not only does it not unravel, but it forms a stiff point that's much easier to insert through the buckle than others. After years of heavy use and accidental damage (like the dog chewed on it and I continued to use it for years after) I replaced my original pair and added several more to my collection to replace less expensive straps that never performed nearly as well. The original pair never failed, I simply chickened out because the several accidental nicks had worn deeply into the width of the straps in several places. They resisted continuous exposure to the elements and sun along the way. ... show more

  • They look pretty good as well as work pretty good
Style: 9 Feet
I never thought I needed the Thule brand for my Kayaks, but man they are well made and look good on a blue car. They work well with the thule Stacker.
