The moment this goes off of the "coupon price" I'd have an extremely hard time justifying these but as long as you can get both for what you'd usually pay for one container like this it's not the worst deal. They do their jobs but definitely have some short comings. I wouldn't want to use it for a main feeder/waterer - it's perfect for what I wanted it for to use in our transitional coops/runs where we have the younger chicks before they go to the bigger coops. We move the whole setups fairly often so didn't want anything too permanent. It works good enough for the price so far. The main issues imo are mainly in the lids and the drinkers. I've never had issues with leaks like I did on these waterers. I ended up using roofing screw washers that stopped the leaking. I'm replacing the cups with proper nipple drinkers though as my chicks are already used to them and when it comes to auto-fill cups like these, these are definitely on the cheaper/low quality end. The other is the lids - there's no actual hard seal of any kind. It takes no pressure to lift off the lid. I have the feeder from this set in a brooder with 4 week old chicks and you can see a picture of how I came to find the lid slightly unseated. The waterer is the same so I may end up putting tape to help keep them from dislodging it, super inconvenient though if you're refilling often. It is nice they came with the additional mounting option to secure it to a wall. I'm not using it but not always an easy option without doing your own personal modifications. At the end of the day definitely not the best you can but I'd still take them over your standard messy feed/water bowls. ... show more

This is the second set I have purchased from this brand, and I continue to be impressed with the quality. Their waterer and auto feeder are both very well made and thoughtfully designed. The waterer does not leak, and my quails figured out how to use it very quickly. The feeder ports are a little larger than I would prefer, so the quails sometimes peck food out and make a mess. However, my parents raised the feeder slightly higher off the ground, and that seems to have helped reduce the waste quite a bit. This particular set is actually for my parents because they have also started enjoying raising quails. The plastic feels sturdy and durable, and my first set has already held up very well through sun, rain, and cold weather without any issues. Tgeyd No-Waste Chicken Feeder & Waterer Set I ordered these as a Christmas present for my son who has recently started raising chickens so haven't seen it in actual use yet. The food/wster buckets are very attractive with their chicken pictures and printing: "Life is Better with Chickens" and "Fresh Eggs". I started assembling without instructions and it wasn't hard. However, upon getting every piece out of the buckets I found the instructions and discovered I'd put the feeders in wrong. The long part goes inside and the short lip goes on top of the outside, so the chickens will actually be sticking their heads inside the bucket to get the food. The lisstsing doesn't show any pictures of the feeder holes other than with the covers over them. I don't see how the food will be protected from rain in these openings uinless it's assumed the owner will screw the covers over the openings when rain is in the forecast. The wsterer is more straightforward to assemble. None of the assembly is difficult. The handles for carrying just snap on. I'm not sure how well that is going to hold up over time and extreme desert weather. The lids fit well and shouldn't leak. The pieces are all smooth and the whole assembly should be easy to clean. While these can simply be set on the ground or in a heater, they each have three ways included to hang them up. Very handy. I've been reading up on chickens and tempted to get my own, but after 25 years of horses on my property, I just sent the last one living out for boarding so he'd have horse company. I'm not quite ready to give up the new freedom of not having to be home to feed twick a day, These feeders look like they'd easily take care of a few chickens for a weekend away. If/when I do get my own chickens I'd purchase these for myself, especiaLly if they were at the current $25.99 price which is well below the regular-but-competitive $39.99. ... show more

This requires assembly. Which isn't the issue. The issue is the lack of any written instructions included in the package. Also keeps mentioning S hooks for hanging. Those aren't included. The handle is not sturdy. I've seen children's sand buckets with stronger handle attachments. These seem pretty flimsy. Should be fine for 3-5 chickens. We have 8. We will see. ... show more

These chicken feeders are so cute. They are great size I have 31 Hens and only refill once a day although they also free range. They were easy to assemble and directions on how to mount the back brackets for the wall were clear and straight forward. They are durable, super easy to remove to clean and refill. Okay, let's go! This was a hard review to write, because I'm really on the fence with this set. After unboxing I must admit I really liked this item. I love the farmhouse teal color on the feeder. I currently have a different waterer for my chickens (its was a 5 gallon with the same pressure waterer cups) but for 3 chickens its too big, so the 3 gallon size is PERFECT. The first thing I noticed is that the plastic on these is noticeably less sturdy. Where the current waterer I have is like 5 gallon bucket heavy plastic, so carrying it full is easy...this waterer is not that. The weakness of the plastic is compounded by the fact that the handle is also light duty plastic, and just snaps into the sides of the waterer. So carrying a full water load over long periods of time, with the environmental stress of hot and cold, I'm not sure what the longevity of this item will be. Also note that the cups are very flimsy, but on this note I actually like them better for that than my heavier waterer. They are deeper and fill up much easier so I'm hoping it will be easier for the chickens. They do not have a 'secondary' cup liner, but I'm not a fan of that setup with my other waterer, so this is a good thing in my opinion. I like the fact that these don't have legs, so I just use patio blacks to set mine up in their run. They have an elevated 2-tier coop, so I just set them up below the loft area. Please note that these have flat removable lids, so they are a perching dream zone for your chickens. I would highly recommend putting them under something or rigging something on the lid. Both items do offer the option to hang them on a fence or wall. This might help with the issue of sturdiness but I would highly recommend some kind of support setup for underneath them still. When they are full of feed and water they are heavy enough and as I said, the handles are VERY light duty. As far as the feeder goes, no issues other than the flat lid. I like the feeding ports they are quite large and seem like they will do well to keep the feed from getting wet and the chickens from making a mess of it. The feeder should work well for pellets or crumbles. The ports also have covers you can put on to limit feeding options, keep the feed safe from bad weather, or for transferring the container around so you don't dump feed out of it. There is a nice decal on both containers. The rating on this was tough and probably more like a 3.5, however there were enough potential quality and longevity problems that this set did not warrant a 4. ... show more
