Not too thick & bulky, the cord is perfect! Pecking proof cord! Place it on top of a stack of about (5) 12"x12"x2" concrete paver stones & good to go! (The paver stones work well in the event you have rodents digging around/under the stones that un-settle the levelness; you can lift the top stone, grab a handful of dirt & sandwich it in to quickly make it level again, place down the water heater pad & your water feeder back on top. With (5) pavers, it's about the right height to keep the chickens from kicking up as much dirt into the water feeder)

Doesn’t work even in a protected area at temperatures below 30F. No warranty, so not worth buying to try when it gets cold. Lesson learned. Do not recommend.

I have two of these one for my chickens and one for my ducks. Temp dropped down to 20 degrees and the water in both was frozen solid. Update: the seller was quick to respond to me after posting this review. They have already refunded my money and told me that a new model is going to be coming out and that they will send me one for free. Because of the excellent customer service I am raising it to 5 stars

This heater wouldn't keep the water unfrozen below 15 degrees. Plus it failed at the beginning of the second winter. Trying a different one with a larger diameter and made out of metal
