I got this for my chickens to keep their water from freezing. I got the plastic one. It is very lightweight and already assembled. It heats up fast and will help my chickens to stay hydrated this winter. It is a great value for the money. Uses a standard 110 outlet. I am very happy with this product.

11/8/25 I ordered this for a very well insulated well room with temps now into high 20* and will get -30* . It actually works standing up in about a 36 cubic ‘ area . Holding temp at 44* - 50.5* . The plug extension is a very durable flexible plastic and seems to be working out just fine. The body I like being plastic and I’d say nicely made. Fingers crossed

I really wanted to like this heater. I wanted something with an adjustable heat control that would work with plastic waterers, and this seemed perfect. Our temps were only getting into the mid-20s, and I set the heat to the middle setting of 2. The heater base and waterer is in a covered area of our chicken run and is protected from rain/snow. After one week of continuous use, it just stopped heating. I recommended this to someone else too, I need to check to see if theirs is still working. I'm very disappointed and now have to look for another solution. UPDATE: A week later I was getting ready to remove this heater from our chicken run, and decided to plug it back in, and lo and behold now it's working again. Still, intermittent heating is a problem. I added a star because the company reached out to me in an email after seeing this review.

This heater is going to work amazing for the chickens this winter I got this for my grandparents to help them out a little bit when it starts freezing outside I think I might get a extra to put a bowl on for our outdoor cats as well it’s pretty big size and very well quality
