This is an excellent feeder. We loved it so much we got a second one to help spread the chickens out. There is minimal waste from it and it can really hold a lot of feed. We have been able to go on trips and this still had feed in it when we came back after three days. I liked this so much that I bought a second one. Chicken feeding is one and done (for awhile). No waste. Chickens figured it out within minutes. No assembly. Just take it out of the box and pour a whole bag of feed into the feeder. Well made. Sturdy.

This feeder is excellent for my smaller size flock (7 hens). There are only three feeding spots so it may not meet the needs of larger flocks. I have used it in the coop and in the run. I did not put 50 lbs or even close to that amount of feed in so can't comment on capacity as it would take forever for my birds to eat that much. The main reason I purchased this product was for a rain proof feeder and it works beautifully for this! I live in Western Washington and it has been very rainy this year. Feed was completely dry even in heavy rain. I also notice very little to no spillage/waste with it. It's easy to fill and easy for my hens to use. It was bigger than I expected. I have average size hens (Barred Rocks, Wyandottes, Rhode Island Red). It may be more difficult for smaller breeds, species, or younger birds to use. I would definitely buy again even though a bit higher in price as it worked perfectly for my needs and is sturdy enough to last. ... show more

Pros - hold a lot of feed - lowers waste - easy enough to fill - it's cute in the coop Cons (and suggestions for improvement) - The lid does not screw on. It pops on. It would be much better if it was a screw on lid. After some use, it is very hard to get the lid off. - There is really no way to tell how much food is in the container without opening the lid. Would be really cool to incorporate a clear strip down the side of the container so you can view the level of feed remaining. - The openings for the chickens to put their heads through is very low to the ground. These openings have to be where they are because this is a gravity fed feeder. However, maybe you could make a 1, 2 and 3 in base to add to the bottom of this container. A full piece that you have the option to snap (connect) under the bottom to raise it up a bit. Yes I know I can put bricks or something under it. But I do think some people could really benefit from this addition. Heck, sell it separately and I would buy it! - My chickens like to sit on top of it and poop. ๐Ÿ™„ I'm not really sure what to suggest. Chickens are going to roost. ๐Ÿ˜‚ just keep that in mind when buying something that doesn't hang or just a small opening popping in their coop for them to eat. This has been great for my run. I have a small flock of 5. They have a small-ish covered run and this sits in that space 24/7. I can fill this with enough feed for two weeks or so. I propped it up on a cinder block and itโ€™s perfect for my girls. No mess. Easy to refill.
