Bought pump in April (5 1/2 months ago) and one of the two air outlets is not working. Worked great when new, have always had check valves on the air lines. Pump isn't overly loud though. Whisper 60. Definitely no whisper here. I purchased this cheap (get what you pay for) pump to aerate my salt water mix. I would never put this in my display tank. This is louder than my DT return sump pump, skimmer, and air pump combined. Listened to a 5 star video review, and that's what mine sounds like. Unacceptable noise level. For just a little more money you can get a much better pump with adjustable air flow and smaller footprint. ... show more

Although the price was right, this pump is unbearably loud.Since I didn’t open it until the 30 day return period had passed I tried to contact the company but it was waaaay too hard to try to get a refund even with a year warranty it was total junk out of the box and tendered totally useless ... show more

The air pump i got was truly a return. The box was poorly damaged and taped back up. The pump was very loud. The box said it came with a valve check but it did not. i have to use it with a towel on top of it just to make the noise level bearable. These guys must buy from yard sale and repair and then resale. i don't know how long it will last but your better off buying new. like other reviews, it's not worth returning. it's a gamble. I want to preface that I do like and own many Tetra products and I had high expectations for the Tetra Whisper 60. The price point is cheap, but it has quite a loud humming sound in my living room. Way too noticeable and distracting. Much louder than the water outflow that I purposely make as loud as possible for my fish tank. It's bad and I cannot have that distracting horrible sound in the living room. If a loud humming sound doesn't bother you, and you want a cheap price point that works as intended, then get this.
