I have a crawlspace lit by a single, unprotected bulb and had a spare LED shop lamp - but no electrical plugs. I remembered having a few of these around as a kid - for Christmas lights, as I recall - and looked around for them. Voila, they still exist and have 3-prong outlets now (although, I understand that the third prong does not provide grounding). I proceeded to the crawlspace, removed the existing light bulb, screwed this in, replaced the bulb and plugged in the LED shop lamp. LET THE BE LIGHT! CAVEATS: I am not an electrician, so I don't know the issues that might arise with an ungrounded prong. The LED shop light pulls 40watts, less than the original incandescent bulb, and the light will be lit only for relatively short periods while I am nearby. I'm okay with this scenario.

I have an LED strip light that I wanted to power from a basement switch lamp. It is a 3-prong plug. This fixture allowed me to plug right in and still have the original bulb also function. To be clear, although it accepts a grounded plug, the ground line is not a complete path. There is some risk of working without a proper ground. Certainly, I would not run a corded tool or a grounded fan or a landscape light from this, for want of a proper ground. However, since we are all tempted once in a while to use a 3-prong to 2-prong grounding adapter without fussing about the ground tab tie-out, this saves a step and reduces the clutter at the fixture. Where my LED light is also ceiling mounted, I am not likely to make casual contact with it, so even if it develops and fault to ground, I am not likely to have a problem. With that in mind, though, it is a great little helper to make a clean and simple connection to a lamp fixture.

The casing is a bit loose，it does not respond when plugged in and does not energize the light socket underneath，so it is not recommend.

These are goog quality socket to plug adapters. They are well made and the one I tested worked perfectly. There is no information at all on the adapters, but the packaging gives the maximum volts/amps at 125V/10A and the listing states that power should be limited to 1250W; this should be stated on the adapter. The adapter accepts either a 2-prong or a 3-prong plug, but be aware that an appliance with 3-prong plug will not be grounded when plugged into this adapter. The hole in the receptacle that accepts the ground prong is just a hole in the plastic housing, not connected to anything electrically. This fact is not stated anywhere and it really should be because use of an ungrounded appliance (that is intended to be grounded) is potentially hazardous, and if you are "cheating" on the grounding you should at least be aware that you are doing so.

These work just fine. Be aware that the ground in the socket is not connected to anything. It's a dummy ground. So, if you have an item that actually detects for ground in able to be used, it won't work with this socket/outlet adapter. However, it works just fine for plugging in a couple of shop lights in order to bring more light into my work shop without having to hardwire anything in.

Basically this is kind of a shortcut to get an outlet for power where you don't have an outlet or can't put one. As others have stated this adapter is NOT GROUNDED, so you must be very careful with which three prong items you use with it. I personally use them for some low wattage shop lights for short periods of time and only while I'm around to monitor the situation. I certainly wouldn't use these for HD battery chargers. HD power tools or anything else that takes a lot of juice to operate. If you can't be careful or are overly worried then these probably aren't for you, and I would recommend a HD grounded light socket with a built in plug. As for me though, I plan on buying several more of these down the road as long as the durability/reliability continues to hold up.
