As a senior I was nervous about getting in and out of the tub to shower. I prefer a walkin shower, but my apartment doesn't have one, so I was using a step stool to brace myself to get in and out of the tub. The grab bar was easy to install once I put pressure on it before locking it in place. It is great for helping me feel more confident once I'm in the shower and getting in, but I still use the stool to help get in. I fact I've decided to buy another one to put at the front of the shower, so I have even more support getting in and out of the shower/tub. I'd give it a higher rating, but we've only had it appx. 2 weeks. It was very easy for my spouse to install in existing shower which had no grab bars. I'm not certain he's needed to hold on due to balance issues to it yet it's reassuring to know it is there to grab onto as needed. Very glad I found this! ... show more

The bar works as advertised. It makes a good tight suction when applied as instructed, but don't expect it to work like a permanently attached, screwed on bar. The science just isn't there. Sooner or later, air will creep in and loosen it. I give it a firm tug before a bath to be sure it's still snug. If it gives, I undo, then reattach it.
