Reviewing the iHave Shower Handle - 12 Inch Night Glow Grab Bars for Bathtubs and Showers. BOTTOM LINE: Work well, but only on very smooth, very flat surfaces. Product doesn’t claim to hold a person’s full body weight, and indeed wouldn’t for most people, but as an ASSIST attached to proper surfaces (bath tub, shower wall, etc) these are very helpful. 5/5 stars. BENEFITS and FEATURES: - Strong hold when applied to smooth (and clean) surfaces. - Large (thick) handles easy to grab. - Glow-in-the-dark for only a few minutes, but useful in case of sudden power outage at night. - Easy to install and place where needed – depending on the surface available. - Will attach to other places that have smooth, flat surfaces (furniture, cabinets, etc.). ISSUES and CONCERNS: - Somewhat hard to press down the locking levers. Elderly may need someone press into place. - Will NOT attach on typical bathroom wall with ceramic tiles, which are usually too porous and have too much of an irregular surface (see pic). ... show more

I have used bars like these for a few years recovering from having spent three weeks in the hospital. Any bars that attach by suction are less secure than those permanently attached to studs. Given that obvious limitation, these hold to flat, smooth surfaces pretty well. The suction cups must be pressed firmly to the surface before lifting the locking levers. The cups are not flexible enough to contour to any texture. The description mentions grout lines and porous surfaces, but also includes texture as a disqualifying factor. If you run your hands over the surface and feel texture or imperfections, these will not hold securely. The same is true if the surface isn't completely flat - any curve or contour can cause these not to hold securely. Since I obtained my set, the product description has changed to remove "night glow" as one of the features. They don't really glow much unless exposed to very bright light and even then only for a short time. I didn't get them for the glow feature, so that's not a problem for me. Once they have been attached, give them a firm tug to confirm the cups have a secure hold before putting any weight on them or using them for support. If they are left in place after use, be certain to test again the next time they are used. Make certain the cups and surface are clean and without deposits from water having evaporated. Anything contamination on the cups or surface can prevent them from attaching securely enough to provide the needed support. ... show more

I have a couple other suction style grab bars and I got these to try in a shower that's mainly used by kids. The bars look good and I cleaned the shower wall (smooth, flat wall) as well as the cups prior to installation. I had no trouble installing them but when testing how much they would support they did not seem to be as sturdy as my other grab bars. I didn't put all my weight on them but I tried to simulate and emergency situation where someone might slip and use the bar to catch themself. One pad popped loose and I imagine the other would have if I didn't let up. In fairness I do not see a weight rating so maybe I'm exceeding the limit but I weigh less than 250 pounds and I wasn't putting all my weight on it. I usually wouldn't buy something like this if it doesn't show a weight rating so that was my mistake. I do notice that they release much, much easier than my other suction grab bars. I put them back up but I've been checking them every time before the kids use the shower and I explained to them how to test the bars and use them cautiously. I don't notice any glowing in the dark like the images in the listing but they don't get much light during the day and the glow in the dark feature wasn't a selling point for me anyway. ... show more

These grab bars do not work at all!! They do not stay on the wall and could cause someone to fall. I made sure the surface was completely clean, as they directed, before attaching them to the shower wall and they fell off the wall every day. They do not stay attached to the wall at all. They are completely useless and I have thrown them out - a complete waste of money! ... show more

These handle bars offer a great deal of support for coming in and out of the bathtub. The suction power of these products are simply wonderful. Also, our shower is not well lit, and these glow in the dark handles make it easier to see where to grab.

Great product, great and simple design. These are very functional and very useful to have in your shower. I got them for my wife as she appreciates something to hold onto from time to time when shaving her legs. The fact that they glow in the dark is a nice bonus, but unless the power goes out, I doubt I'll ever have much use for them glowing. Overall absolutely a great product. ... show more
