This seems a good idea but only a small portion of floating debris goes in the net. Most floats around it. The debris that does flow into the net swirls around slowly and then flows back out. The net doesn’t allow free flow - it is too dense. Water flows in the net box, around, and then back out and around the net. Other than not functioning as it was intended, the materials are sturdy and seem that they would last a long time. Bottom line this item is an epic fail. I left it in a week and at the end of the week it had a small amount of tree pollen (hairlike pieces) in it. All other debris escaped either to the bottom or in the skimmer basket.

I looked forward to receipt of this product, but when we used it, the fabric was too tightly woven to have water flow through - consequently, leaves and small debris went around the outside and on to the skimmer. Thus, it defeated the purpose of collecting that debris before it reached the skimmer, leaving us to continually pull out the skimmer basket to empty it now that leaves are beginning to fall. Also, it may have worked better if the 'bridge' from the device to the edge of the pool had been longer and the 'box' opening be higher out of the water in order to catch the floating leaves. Hard to describe, but it didn't work as well as another skimmer we had for several years before UV light caused it to deteriorate. We may keep it and try to do some adjustments to it. Not a total waste of $$, but not worth this cost!

The instruction set asks to provide comments for improvements, but offers no contact methodology, so opting to provide comments in this review - hopefully the company gets these comments. They may want to consider adding a bit more to the instruction sheet in the future, including at least an email address if not a web site with a contact page on the site. 1) the placement of the round "floats" at the top of the net are a bit off. They tend to hold the top of the overall compartment right at water level - no room between the water level and the top of the net housing. Thus, some debris doesn't make it inside the net. 2) Something tends to cause water flow to go around the overall housing instead of through. I watched as debris was floating straight up along the pool wall then as it approached this net it suddenly started veering outward and went around the housing. Some debris did stay inline and ended up being captured within the net. I am not able to discern what caused some of it to flow out around the net. 3) The "stick" to prevent it from deforming is quite difficult to get through the intended area of the piping surrounding the net opening. The pocket in said piping should be a little bit larger. It should also be able to be inserted from either end of said piping to accommodate individual pool setups. My pool ended up with the excess of the stick on the side near the pool wall - I was concerned with this possibly being able to cause damage to the vinyl liner. Otherwise it works OK. It has helped minimize how much debris ends up in the skimmer.

Got this for my 82 yr parents and the neighbors large tree that sheds on my parents side and ALWAYS ends up in the pool. He can’t spend everyday scooping leaves out the pool cause they clog and will make the motor burn up. This item amazed me; we put it in the past ok with sand weights on the surrounding cement in front of the intake flaps and guess what IT CATHES THEM ALL! Now we just dump the leaves from the netting and replace back into the pool! PERFECT GIFT /ADDITION TO YOUR POOL CLEAN UP! Recommend to everyone I know that has a pool.

TRIED FILTER IN SEVERAL PLACES BUT LEAVES JUST KEEP SWIRLING AROUND INSIDE AND COMING RIGHT BACK OUT. POOL FILTER STILL GETS COMPLETELY STOPPED UP WHILE THIS PRODUCT DID NOT TRAP ANYTHING. EVEN TRIED TO LET IT FLOAT IN THE WATER BUT THE FLOATERS ON THE SIDE DOES NOT RAISE THE BOX UP ENOUGH TO EVEN CATCH DEBRIS. IT JUST SITS RIGHT AT WATER LEVEL

Sturdy and simplistic, it works. Recommend setting it just before the skimmer as anything that immediately gets past will flow into skimmer. Also I tilted so the backend sits just above the water line otherwise debris flows over and on into the skimmer. Not near as much debris gets through and keeps skimmers mostly clear.
