I love Sweet PDZ for my chicken coop and have always used the granular Stall Refresher version. One question: Why is this repackaged "coop" version so expensive?? I get 25 lbs of the stall stuff (exactly the same product) for less than $10.

I love the fact that it turns urine- (ammonia NH3) into potassium and nitrogen for my garden. I did a lot of research into coop neutralizing products. This absorbs the feces and waste and then slow releases what my garden needs. It's absolutely safe to compost, and I have. It's just 3 elements; Na, Ca, and K (sodium, calcium, and potassium) so there's nothing unsafe about it. My child can handle it (although a dusty cloud forms when you first pour it out. So have them close their eyes... oops. Lol. I read many articles and reviews before buying. The product has been used with horses for 25 years, they're just now marketing for smaller pets like cats, rabbits, chickens, etc. It doesn't eliminate ALL odors. Nothing will, except great coop care, but it helps and absorbs the mushy, gooey, slimy stuff. It's easy to hose off or sweep out. I convinced my neighbors and the city to allow me to have a chicken permit because of this product. Downside: You really need to use a lot of it to get it to work. That's fine with me. I'll pay what I must to have a non-smelly urban coop, but I'm not sure how long a bag lasts an average person. For me, I have six large hens, which means I go through a bag a week. I think that equates to around $40-50 a month at the current price. Like I said, worth it for me! I've read on other products that have Malassis or what not in them with other absorbing chemicals that claim to be safe for handling. Not the same. It does not time release the nitrogen into my garden when I compost it. I'm looking for that dual purpose. Hope this helps. ... show more

My coop has sand in the bottom Shock helps greatly with any smells, but this stuff was awesome! I cleaned the coop well and turned the sand a bit while also sifting it catch anything I missed. Then I spread this all over and lightly turned it into the sand. I couldn’t be more pleased and there is no odor and it’s hot out! ... show more

I picked up a bag of this to add to our chicken coop to help just keep it cleaner and smelling a little better. I have been more than impressed with how good of a job its has been doing. I don't have a very big coop to begin with and it didn't smell terribly bad either. But I just got this to help keep it fresh and maintain the coop along with a good helping of diatomaceous earth and pine flake bedding and the coop has never been better. The directions say to be quite liberal with spreading it around so I did just that and it seems to be the way to do it. I swear by diatomaceous earth and this coop refresher to help keep a fly free ( for the most part ) fresh and clean coop! ... show more

We have been using Sweet PDZ stall refresher in our litter boxes for years and LOVE the product. It works wonders to extend the life of the litter and eliminates the ammonia and overall litterbox smell. Most people can't believe we even have indoor cats - we have seven cats and three litterboxes! I used to drive 30 minutes to get to a feed store just to get a bag. Enter Amazon. But lately have only been able to find the powder version on here which I don't like as well in my application. Enter the Coop Refresher. It's the same product in a much easier to store 10lb bag. This stuff is great. My husband was out watching me clean the coop and commented that when I sprinkled the Refresher down the smell completely disappeared "like magic". We have four hens and they range most of the day so the coop and run do not get too gross but when it rains or gets damp definitely has an odor. We clean it up best we can and liberally sprinkle this stuff all over the run and coop and voi-la! The small bag is deceptive; I have been using the same bag for months and am just now getting to the point of thinking I need to buy more. Great option for a stinky coop! ... show more
