I am a Physical Therapy Student and have learned how to cast for custom insoles. Basically in class we are told that we should recommend that patients first try "off the shelf" insoles to see if they work. The idea is that sometimes it may seem like a foot problem when its something else, and sometimes its a foot problem that the off the shelf insoles will fix. If someone still has problems beyond this then custom orthotic insoles are a great choice, but at least we tried cheaper options first. Its practical and often works great. I had mild foot soreness after long walks and long work days. I started by cross training with Merrell Barefoot Trail GlovesMerrell Men's Barefoot Trail Glove. I really got the shoes to check them out rather than to try and fix any problems, I was curious and I like them. These are nice "barefoot" shoes but I don't believe they made any change in my mild dynamic overpronation. Basically I just need a little extra support that my regular shoes don't have. I have a medium arch and these superfeet are great. I use them in a few different shoes that luckily had a similarly sized and shaped insole. They fit my arch exactly by shoe size as selected on amazon. The rigid rearfoot piece is very important. If you need support because your arch is mobile (like mine) than you need something rigid under it so it will keep its shape. If you have a rigid arch, then you need something to build up to your arch, stay there, and cushion it to absorb impact. Either way, I think superfeet can fill that role or atleast are worth a shot. The blue ones are great for my medium dynamically overpronating arch. I cannot speak to the green, black, or orange ones but I would guess the descriptors for arch size would be about correct. Again, I really do believe that the rigid rearfoot is important if you need support. If you just want some comfort, then just gets some cushion in your shoes.

These run a little bit bigger, but can be cut down to size for your shoes. Easy to place in different sneakers. Not uncomfortable or hard.

I purchased these inserts for my grandson. They were recommended by his physical therapist (he’s been have achilles heel problems and plantar fasciitis, he also has flat feet). They work very well. His plantar fasciitis has gotten better. He has a pair in his soccer cleats and a pair in his regular shoes. A bit pricey, but not as pricey as having to pay for orthotics. I would highly recommend these inserts.

I just bought new hiking boots, and though they fit well, there was a hot spot in the heel area of the right foot that was giving me blisters. So, I figured I'd try some Superfeet, because they supposedly lock down your heel, and I have heard lots of glowing reviews (friends and online reviews). I first ordered these blue insoles, as well as the black and green insoles, in the "E" size, because I wear a size 10.5/11 shoe. None of them were very comfortable, so I returned them all, wondering what all the fuss was about. After taking another hike - and getting another blister in the right heel - I figured I'd try one more time. I ordered these blue ones in the "F" size - even though it was bigger than my shoe size - and immediately after placing them on the floor and stepping on them, I could tell they fit me perfectly. Turns out, the arch and the heel cup of the "E" size had been too small. So, if you're ordering these, ORDER MULTIPLE SIZES AT ONCE - especially since returns are free. The size of your ARCH is more important than the size of your shoe/foot. The arch of the support should feel like it's cradling the entire arch of your foot. As far as which color to buy, I like the blue because they seem like a good balance of support and lower volume. I think the green would be too much for my well-fitted hiking boots, and the black doesn't seem to offer as much support under the heel. Update: I finally got a chance to use these on a short but steep hike (4 miles) and they did GREAT. I'm finally a believer, now. They totally solved the blister problem I was having, kept my feet stable and "locked into place," and were very comfortable. Plus, I swear my feet/knees/legs feel less fatigued than they did before these insoles. I'm looking forward to using them in my snowboard boots this winter. Try them out, it might be a great help.

These insoles have been a godsend. I am a sports medicine-trained physician who has pes planus (flat feet) and pronating feet. I would get foot pain after standing or running for long periods of time. Prior to my training I had tried a variety of products (ie. Dr. Scholls, custom orthotics) with no improvement in this pain. Dr. Scholls-type products may be cheaper, but don't really provide support, despite being advertised to do so. Instead, all of these gel-based products are usually better for cushioning, rather than support. The custom orthotics were extremely expensive and seemed to stiff even after breaking them in. After much research I came onto Superfeet and have not turned back since. Since starting with these insoles I have had minimal-to-no pain in my feet. I have 4 pairs that I keep in my running shoes and I bought one pair of the "dress" model of Superfeet for my work shoes. The "Blue Premium" provide just the right amount of support, without feeling to bulky or uncomfortable. With any insoles you must gradually get used to the product. I would recommend wearing the insoles around the house for one hour the first day, two hours the next, three the next, etc. By the end of first week or two, you'll feel comfortable wearing them all day long. Of course, you will also want to make sure you have good quality shoes. I would highly recommend these insoles. More expensive than off-the-shelf insoles (Dr. Scholl's), but well worth it for the quality.
