  • I'm pleasantly surprised!
Originally, I was browsing for a treadmill, but I really wanted something that would develop stronger muscles for walking uphill or step climbing (a few months ago I walked the length of the Grand Canyon, rim to rim, and I want to stay in shape for the next trip). When I read the reviews for this piece of equipment, I was still slightly undecided about it, but I chose to take the risk. I've only had it for three days. I am 5' 11", 205 lbs., and 69 years old. I had no problems putting it together; the base comes already assembled. The only assembly needed is with the vertical upright. I was very careful with the assembly instructions, and it took about 30 minutes to set up. But I went very slow. The equipment is made in China (imagine that!), so the instructions lack proper English, but they're manageable. The front of the base has a knob that will adjust the tension. The stepper makes very little noise; it's hardly noticeable. The base is approximately 18" by 18". Also, there's nothing to plug in. Before ordering, I thought that the handle would be too low for me, but it's the perfect height. I have mine set at optimum height (same as in the picture in the ad). Initially, I only took about 50 steps, and I was already breathing hard, so I got some rest. I felt that my leg muscles were receiving the exercise that I was looking for. Three days later, I'm doing 200 steps and then stopping. The air cylinders get pretty warm. I check the stepper every time I get off of it, looking for damage or anything loose. So far, everything is fine. I've also discovered an added bonus: I can place my hands on the bottom horizontal part of the handle (grip tighly) and slightly lean forward while stepping. As I take the steps, I slightly push up on my upper body with my arms, causing my biceps, triceps, and chest muscles to also get a workout, along with my legs. I just have to be careful not to lean forward too much, so I won't fall frontwards. So be very careful with this. As mentioned above, I've only had this equipment for three days. But so far, I am pleasantly surprised. Turns out that it was exactly what I wanted. And the price is very reasonable. UPDATE: I've had this stepper for almost 8 weeks. I have worked up to 3,000 steps a day. However, when I get near 700 steps, it begins to squeal. I've used different lubricating sprays, but the noise is still annoying. I finally found something that works: I place a small fan on the floor, directly in front of the red tension knob of the stepper. This cools down the bottom area, and that eliminates the noise. I'm still satisfied with the purchase. ... show more

  • Excellent machine for those with osteoporosis
I bought this machine to help build my bone density and strengthen my spine. I am 51 yrs old. I have severe osteoporosis in my L-spine , femoral neck and a 61 degree curve in my spine from scoliosis. I am unable to use weights so my doctor recommended a stepper so that I can use my own body weight for resistance training. I hop on this machine 3 times a day for 5 minutes at a time. It’s sturdy, compact and easy to use. I already feel core strength, tone in my legs, more flexibility, less stiffness and pain in my hips and improved posture. Not to mention it boosts my mood. Praying it helps build bone density but won’t know this until a follow up Dexa scan next year. I live in Alaska and the cold winters make it impossible for me to get out and walk so this machine has been a God send. I highly recommend this machine for those diagnosed with osteoporosis and scoliosis . Best wishes to good health ... show more

  • For low cost entry level machine, very good but don't use for long periods
Based on reviews from several sites, I chose this stair stepper because I wanted the most low-cost, basic, simple, entry-level machine. After a few days, I'd say it fits the bill. While it doesn't have adjustable tension per se, the adjustment of the stair height acts in that capacity. It seems sturdy, although when you are NOT standing on it, be careful to not let it fall forward. The lateral motion is easy to get used to. Not sure if there is a scientific reason for it, but it feels reasonably natural. The counter does what you would expect: time, steps, calories. I'm overall satisfied but there is a CAVEAT that you won't learn about until you purchase the machine. It's not in the description, and it's not in the reviews at other sites: per the instructions, it can only be used for 15 minutes at a time, with a 30 minute rest period between uses. This is so the hydraulics don't burn out. Admittedly, there's no way I could go for longer than 15 minutes right now, but it's a bit cheesy that this issues isn't prominently mentioned. There are two of us, and we had hoped to use the machine sequentially, but now person #2 has to wait 30 minutes before it can be used again. So, this lowers the functionality score to 4 stars. On the surprisingly plus side is the assembly. Being made in China, this product was likely to come with the usual gibberish English that makes no sense. But no! The instructions are actually clear and easy to follow, with good labelling and all the parts necessary (also labelled). The company gets 5 stars for clarity. I will update this review after the machine has been in use to comment on durability and long-term performance. ... show more

  • Great little machine with ONE small challenge
I love this stepper! The one "complaint" (and it is really just a precaution): If you are weak (or perhaps elderly), do NOT depend on leaning on the handlebars to get on the machine - get one foot on first, then the handlebars will help you mount the machine; otherwise, it easily tilts and could throw you to the floor. It is small, compact, easy to move and gives me a great workout. I have a Cubii (can I say that?) and enjoy using it to keep my circulation strong, but it did nothing to help me build strength in my thighs to navigate stairs. Perhaps they could add some weight on the "front" of the machine to counter-balance it, but then it wouldn't be as easy to move around. I'd buy it again. So many people don't understand how important it is as you age to keep the thigh muscles strong enough to lift you out of chairs, climb stairs, etc. Having to pull (or push) yourself up a flight of stairs or out of a recliner with arm/shoulder muscles alone is asking for trouble - too easy to break or dislocate something - then what are you going to do? ... show more

  • We are so happy with this stepper!
Both of us work at home with sedentary jobs, and our bodies were really starting to show it. We got this stepper for our home office because of the small footprint, low price point and good reviews, and it did not disappoint! My husband assembled it in around 10 minutes and I didn't hear any cussing, so it must have been pretty straightforward. The machine is sturdy but lightweight enough for me, a not-so-robust senior woman, to move from room to room. It fits perfectly in the corner of our small office. I have weak knees so I was not sure I could handle a stepper, but this one is awesome. The motion is smooth and gentle on my knees, and the machine is very quiet too, which is important for an office. The step counter is a nice feature that keeps me motivated. After only one afternoon of hopping on it a couple of times, I am feeling the burn in my legs and core. I think we're going to get a lot of good use out of it and we recommend it for its value and construction. ... show more

  • Good starter piece and Slim size
Ok here goes: Assembly- the bulk of the machine comes assembled which is great! You basically need to attach the handle bar Sturdiness-/Quality- I’d say 50/50. The handle bar does have some wobble as if not tight but it is. The stepper did tip back on me once when I leaned to far back but I was able to just lean forward again and no issue came of it. Note to self do not lean far back. I was surprised at how tight the hydraulics are and it is a very slowwww step until the machine “warns”up. I didn’t read that of other reviewers so maybe just me. I did read all the directions and there is a note to only use the machine in 10 minute intervals to avoid the machine over heating- need 30min break of no use in between. That is a big downfall. But at 8mins my upper leg was feeling it so idk. I’m skeptical how much cardio one gets but since my docs say 10min intervals add up. I’ll keep going. The machine is nice and slim for small areas a definite plus. I’m using it inside for the winter as I’ve been too sedentary so it will do It’s checks the boxes as I got it at a good sale price. ... show more

  • Great, affordable fitness equipment
I have had the pink stepper from Sunny for a couple of years, and have put hundreds of miles on it; I upgraded to this one with handles today. It works great! It’s quiet, and works just as great as my old one. The handles are for mild steadiness, about as much as if you were holding the back of a chair. It’s really easy to put together. While it is not Bluetooth like the upgrade version, I can use my Apple fitness app and manually start a stepper workout on my watch. I have health issues so I use it 15 minutes as a time. ... show more
