I am really glad I bought this model rower. I was looking at water rowers, but have a super small space, and wanted a silent rower. I was also balking at the prices of good water rowers and how loud they can be. I read reviews of many models, and listened to videos of the sound/loudness of each type. This fits my needs, with excellent resistance levels. The flywheel adds the feeling of more resistance for a harder pull, and a smooth stroke. I had an air rower chain drive previously. I never got over how loud it was. This is silent, but feels very similar. I hear the seat move and that's it. The belt drive is good quality, and quiet. The seat is very comfortable. The magnetic resistance is excellent. I feel strong resistance at level 3 and there are 8 total. I have plenty of room to grow. I find this really stretches my back out in the morning, is helping my posture, and i feel 'the burn' of the workout. It was packed very well, (probably important so the heavy flywheel stays aligned), was very easy to assemble, and is foldable if needed. The monitor seems to work, but i don't really look at it. I'd much rather the money is put into a quality machine and I can use my own HR chest strap and watch to track my workouts which is what I do. I love the magnetic resistance and flywheel. I rate this much better than a rower without the flywheel, and i prefer over an air rower for the quiet. I will keep this for a long time. Again, well built, and the 10 pound flywheel is totally worth the extra money for it. Update: I've had this for a few months now and it still works great. It would be nice if it had wheels or something to make it easier to move since I changed locations with it, but other than that I am still really pleased with this purchase and feel like this is a quality item.

I got this unit specifically for the cardio and multiple muscles worked out via rowing as compared, say, with stationary cycling or treadmill. I wanted something that had a relatively small footprint, that was quiet, and that would not be a budget buster. I also wanted a unit that was designed/built to train the rowing muscles. I looked at many different brands, and independent reviews. And to make it more confusing, the Sunny brand alone has no less than 20+ rower models! I eliminated the “fan” models because of the noise levels. Neighbor has a Concept 2, and I was not about to fall. into that $$ trap. I know I am not rowing on a lake or river, so I don’t need the snob appeal of that unit. I have a genuine kayak that I use in Summer for that. When all was said and done, I narrowed the choice to this model. I don’t need sophisticated electronic display. I do like having the pair of stabilizing “feet” ahead of the rower’s foot pads. Not all of the Sunny rower models have this feature. This model is definitely quiet! I love that feature. Easy to assemble, and to move around, too. Quality built, and the value is great.

I haven't been able to put in as much time on this as I'd like because of life but I had no trouble putting it together, it stands up and rolls around easy enough, and I'm able to row just fine. I wear earphones when I row and listen to music so I don't have an adequate review for the noise but I don't like to listen to my music so loud that I lose awareness of my surroundings and I don't hear the machine in a noticeable or distracting way above my music. As far as its capability as a rower, I don't have any praise or complaints. It was one of the cheapest I could find that was magnetic and it works for getting a row workout in.

I am pleasantly surprised. This review is very thorough for your consideration and expectations. I read the comments before purchasing and learned that most of the negative comments are unfounded (because they didn't read the instructions!) If you're looking for exercise equipment to abuse and bang on, then this product is not for you. When I use this machine, I imagine myself rowing on a pristine lake...nice, smooth, quiet strokes...its a mindset as well as a good workout. I absolutely love this machine and since I live alone, I have it parked in front of the couch and TV and use it several times a day. I have five minor complaints: 1. Tools are provided. The spanner tool edges are a little too sharp for the type of tightening that is needed. In hindsight, I wish I had used my ratchet set instead. 2. The spanner also has a screwdriver on one end in which the head is too small to screw in a very tightly screw #68 (step 2). I ended up using a bigger head screwdriver so that I wouldn't accidentally strip the screw head. 3. The seat can be a little uncomfortable. I find myself repositioning on the seat. Maybe a thick memory foam seat would be better. 4. While the sensor wire on the wheel side of rail is fitted through a plug, the connecting wire is NOT fitted through a plug hole and hence, it is pinched between the connected rails. This is a design error. If a person were to fold the machine and put it away, I can predict that the wire will eventually become severed/damaged. 5. There are no instructions on how to use the machine (except the computer and how to fold away). Better yet, a choice of videos of rowing on a lake with nature sounds in the background would be the cherry on top! It took me about an hour or so from unpacking the box to testing the machine. I am a detail-oriented person and read the instructions carefully. Reading is not enough though; look at the pictures carefully. Despite the minor complaints, I still give this product a honest 5-star rating. I am already feeling the benefits of this workout. This was a very good buy for me.
