I’ve only used this smoker for one meal so far but it wax a complete success. Assembly was no big deal, all parts were included and took about an hour. I’ll be using this often. My only recommendation is to try to roughly calculate what size meals you’ll most frequently be preparing. The only reason I recommend that is because the larger the smoker the greater amount of charcoal you’ll need to burn to do the job. One of my reasons for purchasing this model was the huge amount of grate space on the double grates. I may purchase an additional smaller model for meals for two. The good news is you can just smoke too much and have lots of leftovers. They hold their full flavor for days in the refrigerator.

Just starting off of with smoking meats and I wanted something that wasn't too pricey. This first my budget perfectly. It was fun job putting it together, like a puzzle as you have at least a 100 pairs of bolt/nuts to screw. Everything fit well and no parts missing. Fired it up and it held a temp of 250-300 perfectly for 4~5 hours. The vents worked fine and helped me regulate the temp. It does have smoke leaks, but I did not find that to be a problem. I'll do some sealing up later. It's sturdy enough and no paint peels after the first smoke. Overall a great value of money smoker.

Many might shy away from affordable smoker's and that is okay. This is also a grill depending on how you want to use it. It is very convenient for home or apartment life depending how your living situation goes. If you are looking for more expensive grill's then you will have to spend the money on a higher quality item. However this item if maintained can last awhile. I have had to tweak it so that it wouldn't leak much smoke but I am definitely impressed with this grill. The handles make it so that you do not get burnt while converting it if the grill is hot or if you are smoking meat's or vegetables. This is more efficient in size and affordability against the competitors. The competitors out in the market against this grill are the Napoleon Apollo, Fornetto Basso, and ProQ, however this grill is more affordable and bigger then the competitors as the only one that competes against this is the Fornetto Basso 22 inch. This grill/smoker is a wopping 20 inches with a 18 inch grate which is a great amount of surface for cooking depending on how much space you are trying to use. Understand that with this allow the smoke to climb so when cooking do not block the second grate with too much food, so that the top grate and thermometer can give you an accurate temperature reading. I have cooked pizza and many other items on this. With a little bit of tweak's I have made it to where this is a beast to cook with. I look forward to purchasing another to use specifically for camping.

When I first got it I would say the box is pretty light. I opened it up it comes in pieces some assembly required it’s really not that bad to put together just a lot of nuts and screws luckily theyres only two sizes. I haven’t used the smoker yet or even how long this will last the material is most likely aluminum since it’s so light. I’ll most likely put it to the test and time it out and then I’ll rewrite my review. So far it looks great.

The only negative thing I have to say about the smoker is it takes a while to assemble but take your time one bolt at a time and you will get it done. This is a great smoker using charcoal. It maintained temperature very well was able to smoke chicken and ribs for several hours came out juicy and tender. I highly suggest this smoker well, worth the money

I bought the 17" size based on positive reviews here saying how well it held 220 degrees through cooking. Receiving it, I was surprised to discover that the bottom of the barrel was open with no airflow controls. But the manual assured me I could control the airflow with the vent in the lid, so I went on to assemble the smoker. Assembly was very straightforward. The unit felt a little flimsy, but I didn't expect more at the price point. So I went on to smoke some salmon. The smoker was indeed holding the temperature well, except that temperature was 300 degrees. With the lid vent fully closed. Not so much smoking as grilling. I suppose I could find a charcoal setup to bring the temperature down for shorter cooks, but I can't imagine it holding a reasonable temperature for 6-8 hours without a constant oversight. I went back to Amazon to see if I could find out from reviews if I was doing anything wrong. And there I found that all the positive reviews are about the 20" model, and that one is a completely different product with a different design, which has a sealed barrel with an intake airflow control. No wonder you can make it hold the right temperature. I believe it's very wrong of the seller to list these as size choices. They are not sizes, they are different products, and the 20" one has a normal smoker design, but the 17" doesn't.

for the price point, my expectations were kinda low for this smoker, but it proved itself on the first run!! it works very well. it maintains a good temperature on the top rack (even 200f) and the latch system is very convenient. i wasn't a big fan of the system at first, but after 5 hours, i needed more charcoal on the bottom to keep things going, and it was easy as pie to flip the latches and remove the whole top and re-stoke the coals without even disrupting the meat! as far as sealing is concerned, it isn't too bad, i bought some small stove sealing tape to seal the doors up, and was expecting to need to seal the sections up where they connect, but that was not needed! the sections seal to each other quite well! there was a small amout of smoke which came out of the lid, but not enough to worry about.
