  • Edited - powerful. Works great
Style: 18" Bar + Chain
Setup was easy. Added oil as instructed. Saw blade is in the correct direction. Starting trimming some small branches (see pics). Stopped working after 15 minutes of use. I gave it time to cool, just in case, tried a different extension cord just in case, tried a known live outlet, just in case. Nothing worked. It is dead. Revised- got it to work and it is going string again ... show more

  • Surprising little saw
Style: 18" Bar + Chain
I had a tree in the woods behind my house unfortunately fell into my yard. Even more unfortunate my gas powered chain saw refused bring the thunder, no matter how many times i tugged on that silly little rope. Frustrated and tired, i began the search. I thought a cordless rechargeable would be a good choice. Then i saw the prices. Yikes! I know from experience the rechargeable batteries do have a finite life span and are not cheap. So i decided to look to corded. I went to my old standby for cheap tools, harbor freight. They had what looked like a decent unit. But upon further research, i found the sun joe. It was 10 bucks cheaper here at amazon Vs the big box guys and had some pretty good reviews, so i figured "why not". For 70 bucks, take a shot. Once i got it assembled and set up properly, i squeezed the trigger and this little guy burned through that felled tree in no time at all. Best of all, i can park it in my garage and it will be ready to go in a year if i need it, no tugging required. Two thumbs up for this saw, it won't bring down any redwoods but will be fine for general homeowner stuff. ... show more

  • UNBELIEVABLE!!! I'm glad I got it.
Style: 18" Bar + Chain
The media could not be loaded. I have to admit - this saw is way beyond anything I expected from an electric chainsaw. It actually cuts faster and more aggressively than any other chain saws I have had so far,and new to me is the automatic chain brake that stops the chain the instant the trigger is released, making it a lot safer to use. The only problem I have at this point is that a small screw was missing from the housing in the vicinity of the bottom front of the rear handle - I am working on getting one of those screws from the company but have not heard back from them yet (I sent an email request to them through their home page online - but it was on friday and this is sunday during the holiday season to boot, so that is not unusual). * Part received, it's all good! You can't fault SUNJOE's customer support, they're fantastic I had an already cut down tree needing to be chopped up, and also made a start on a second small tree. The hour and a half I was out there with the saw cut up so much stuff I will have to spend the next two days picking everything up and disposing of it. I have trunk sections over a foot thick that the saw went through like butter. The stump I cut diagonally because of a tricky location on a bank, and I have never seen a chainsaw buzz right on down through a cut like that so hassle free. At first impression - I thought "SAW JOE huh? Like someone was making funnies about Asian products..." But the parent company is "SNOW JOE", when I read that for some reason it made me think again. The more I find about snow joe/saw joe the more intrigued I am by them. I am considering very seriously purchasing a telescoping electric pole saw that in the advertisement states right up front that it has an "OREGON" bar and chain! What I have done with the saw so far, I would have either been charged twice as much as the price of the saw by a professional tree service, or (if I had to rent a saw and buy the gas and oil) in any case I'd have spent more money than what the saw cost - so IN LITERAL FACT the saw has already paid for itself and then some. Furthermore it looks like it is going to be around for a long time. I have read various consumer comments, and the customer service at sun joe is rated superb. Curiously - one comment I read said that the saw was very quiet in operation. I note that because the sound it makes when cutting is very similar to the sound made by certain kinds of tracked vehicles with hydraulic motors (just an impression I had of it). It seems to have a gear reduction system that runs the chain at just the right speed to cut optimally. Looking back, I have got two used, and one new purchased gas (2 stroke) chain saws stacked like logs under a bench in my shop where they came to rest when they died,a dead McCulloch 300s Eager Beaver that was a recent casualty, and I will never have another Craftsman electric chain saw again because that one just plain fell to pieces - the bar actually came loose and couldn't be repaired. This piece of equipment as it stands right now looks like a hands down winner! EDIT: 18December2014 "Jess" at SNOWJOE sent me an e-mail that I got today, the screw I need is in the mail. I heard that SAWJOE/SNOWJOE was fast on the jump with customer support - and it's for real all right! That just made my day... :) EDIT #2: Chain Sharpening Specs for Oregon S62 Saw Chain There are 62 drive links. The pitch is 3/8. The gauge is .050. Sharpening is 30 degrees. The depth gauges (rakers) are 25/1000. File diameter for sharpening is 5/32. UPDATE (30 October 2015): many moons later, I cut down an OAK TREE (40 or 50 feet) and cut it all up in about an hour... This is so far fetched, that you have to see this saws performance to believe it - HARD wood, the hardest you can cut! In case the video doesn't get appended - here's the youtube address: https://youtu.be/Fc10oQi75HI Solid oak, and it cut it up like butter... Time of year - October, sap beginning to run. This company has impressed me so much I felt honor bound to do that video. You can read the words in the reviews - but seeing is believing! This is the real deal, you want it. And there is NO carburettor to get messed up by bad gas or E85, no mixing fuel, plug it in and GO Just clean electric power... ~Dutch PS- I don't "RAVE" about things very often. I'm an old mechanic/tech, few things impress me. This is a "FIND" IMHO ... show more

  • Good for home
Style: 18" Bar + Chain
A bit heavy but powerful. Cut all my firewood in backyard for less than 2 hours. With manual saw would be a week .

  • Great saw for most things, and much easier and cheaper than gas saws
Style: 18" Bar + Chain
This is my second one of these, since after over four years the first one finally burned up the motor, but only after lots of heavy use, so not a big surprise, and still a very good cost per year. We heat with wood, so cut lots of wood on the property and limbing lots of big branches and cutting up logs in the log pile for splitting. This electric saw handles about 90% of my use, and is so much easier and cheaper to use than my Husky gas saw, and I don't have to worry about worthless CA gas destroying my electric saw, which is run from my solar panels. Even with the attached cord, this saw is safer and easier to use up at the top of a manlift or ladder in the trees. And since the chain stops immediately when you let go of the trigger, you don't have to worry about a still spinning chain when you set the saw down while cutting up logs or limbing. The saw is well built, lightweight and well balanced, but rugged. I did replace the low kickback homeowners chain with a good and better cutting Oregon chain. The weakest part is the bar tightener, which is a bit weak for the longer bar, particularly since it only uses a single clamping nut. I also remove the plastic knob on the bar nut, so that the bar can be more sufficiently clamped by using a wrench. You also must check that the motor cooling slots remain clear of debris. There's supposed to be a motor thermal overload, but I wouldn't count on it, since it didn't trip and my motor still burned up. You don't want to do a long hard cut with this, without letting it cool, or switch jobs between large hard cuts and small limbs, etc. so that the motor can run at full speed without much of a load and cool the motor down with the airflow. Like any tool, you need to know what it's good for, and don't abuse it for things it's not designed for. Also, make sure that you use a good quality 12AWG extension cord, not a cheap small gauge one. I use a 100ft 12AWG cord all the time, and it will bring full power to the saw. This saw won't replace a big Husqvarna gas saw for big cuts and where you don't have power, but it still did replace it for 90% of the things I do around the farm. ... show more

  • Great little chainsaw
Style: 14" Bar + Chain (w/o Kickback Brake)
So my husband had borrowed two different gas powered chain saws and kept running into issue after issue to cut down our crab apple tree. Right when he was about to give up, I found this little bad boy and he had it completely de-limbed and cut down in like 30 minutes. He 100% loved it!!
