  • Love this stuff. Start really slowly and you'll be fine.
This stuff is fantastic. You do, though, need to use it carefully. I have medium blond hair that used to get almost white in the summer when I was a child. After a brush with skin cancer I now avoid the sun altogether. I missed my light blond though and after much trepidation, decided to try this. I've read many negative reports where people's hair turned orange. It certainly isn't for everyone. I started very slowly with just one strand of hair. After not really noticing any change after several days, I started with all over my hair. I really used just a little and dried it with a blow dryer. Slowly my hair lightened nicely with some streaks and variations as well. Now I just do the roots about once a month. My hair was getting dried out but probably more from the blow-drying than the Sun-in. I've stopped blow drying except the one time a month I use the Sun-in and my hair has recovered nicely. As for all the hair dressers that warn against this stuff: They make huge bucks coloring hair. Of course they hate an alternative that costs a few dollars. Just start really slowly on a small strand of hair to be sure you won't be one of the one's who hair goes more orange than blond. ... show more

  • Easy, cheap way for my dark brown hair to lighten up.
I have used Sun In for many years on and off. I recently was using the Tropical Breeze variety and it worked great on my dark brown hair. I didn't even realize how much lighter my hair was getting until I compared pictures from before I started using Sun In and after. The Lemon kind is fine as well. Some say the Tropical Breeze has more peroxide and is "stronger". I haven't really noticed much difference between the two. I spray Sun In on my dry hair and just leave it in. I don't even blow dry it or go in the sun half the time. Sometimes, I spray it and blow dry. When it gets warmer, I will certainly go out in the sun with Sun In in my hair because that will speed up the lightening. I like lighter brown hair but it gets damaged when my stylist does it. I get no damage when using Sun In. It's gradual but that's fine with me. It looks natural too. The only thing is that I don't really get highlights. I get all over lightening. It's probably because I don't spray just a few strands separately but just spray it wherever. Obviously where I spray, it will lighten. I have seen pictures of black haired women going blond just from Sun In but that wouldn't happen with me. It just takes me down a few shades which is all I want. In all, it's a cheap and easy way to lighten even dark hair. I have had my hair professionally highlighted and still used Sun In to brighten my look. It CAN turn a bit brassy at times. I recently dyed over my hair with a dark blonde hair color which toned down the brassiness but didn't lighten my hair overall since you can't go from dark to light without bleaching or peroxide. So now, whenever I see that my hair is looking a little yellow or brassy, I will just dye it with the dark blond and I am good to go. I'm pleased with the product and have been for decades. NOTE: The photo I attached is me at my darkest natural color. The second photo is after three bottles of Sun In and sun exposure. It was starting to get brassy so I eventually toned it down but you can see it really does lighten! I do think though that the second picture makes my hair look a bit lighter than it really is. It really depends on the lighting. ... show more

  • Sun-Kissed Hair Lightening
Subtle, gradual lightening with a fresh citrus scent. Best results with sun exposure. Great for a natural summer glow.

  • Great for subtly lightening hair - just don’t go overboard
Definitely will lighten your hair. I used on vacation to help lighten and hide grays. Just be careful and don’t use TOO MUCH. Overall it did what I wanted it to do. And no damage to my hair.

  • does work on dark brown har actually:)
i love this stuff i read the reviews how it doesnt work on dark brown hair or itll turn it like a orange color? of coarse i never listen to anyone i just do as i want haha. so i used this and tested a peice and i am completely pleased. im a 16 year old with dark brown hair and this made my hair a light brownish blonde hair color. people always compliment my hair and asked if i dyed it and i tell them i used this. i hear this is very bad for your hair so dont use too much. it didnt do anything bad to my hair but my hair is really healthy. if you have fragile hair i would re consider and maybe go to a proffesional. but anyways. i might get some more because my hair has grown out to my pony tail is where the dye is at now. but it looks really natural like a ombre sort of . it really looks nice so i might just let it continue to grow:) ... show more

  • Good for the Price - Results not as obvious as I'd hoped
I have brown hair, it isn't dark but it's not light either and I also have grown out highlights left over from last summer. I had really high hopes for this product because I was hoping it'd work just as well as going to the salon. As of now I've used it 3 times. I'm starting to tell a slight difference in the shade of my hair color. It's very subtle, and frankly, I think I'm the only one who can tell. It hasn't done anything to my already color treated hair (I was terrified it'd make orange streaks through my hair where old highlights were left behind) which is really good but the color difference is not as obvious as I was going for. However for the price, I think it is a fine product & maybe if I was a natural dirty blonde it'd work better and give me the color I was trying to go for. ... show more
