  • Float panel modification
Style: 1HP
Worked fine through hurricane Milton. Here it is about 9 months later had a big rain and it did not automatically start up. I tilted it and it started right up. The float was not rising to the top to activate the switch. There was an air pocket in the front float area so I removed the float area cover and drilled 4 small holes in it to release any air that may get trapped in the chamber around the float. Started filling the pit with water and the pump came on automatically. Tested 4 times, looks like the issue has been resolved. The cover that is around the float was set in there so tightly that no air could escape. Just in time for the next hurricane season. ... show more

  • Update 1 year later...Works like a champ!!
Style: 1HP
Update 1 year later... I have used this pump several times over the winter to drain water off my pool cover. It has worked flawlessly. This is hands down the best pump I've owned! Once you figure out your hose size connection, you're golden. I purchased a Superior Pump heavy duty 1.5" 25' lay flat discharge hose kit with 1.25, 1.5 discharge size. Clamp with a hose clamp and let it rip. I haven't had any debris that the pump will not mulch and suck through yet with no damage to the pump. I am particularly fond of the auto feature that shuts the pump off when the water level is too low to pump. I can walk away from it and forget about it. I highly recommend!! My pump showed up today, and I put it straight to work. Instructions weren't terrible, but could be a little clearer. I figured out the initial startup and air purge without any issues. It's a hefty little sucker, and for being plastic appears quite sturdy and we'll built. The two adapters that come with it seem thick and sturdy as well. If you're looking to hook up a yard hose to it then you're in luck. It will screw right on there with the supplied reducer. I bought it because of the 1 hp motor, and high flow rate, and I wanted to use a 1 1/2 inch hose. Unfortunately, the adapters that came with it are only reducers fro 1 12 inches. Now granted, the largest diameter reducer is 1 1/4 inches, so I cut off the excess smaller end and the hose fit with a hose clamp with some minor leakage. It did not appear to affect the pumping suction though. I will go purchase a threaded coupler from the hardware store and use the 1 1/2 inch adapter that I already have. Not a big deal really. I bought it to finish draining my pool for a deep clean. My old Wayne pump that I've had for years and rebuilt a couple of times finally decided to croak for good leaving about 2 ft of water in a 24 ft round pool. I was about to spend about 4 times more than this pump costs, and I thought for the price, why not? So I hooked up the hose, purged the air, and plugged it up. This sucker is a hoss!! It completely filled the 1.5 inch hose and started throwing some water! It drained the remaining water in under an hr. One note if you're not paying attention to detail...it only drains down to 3/4 inch. If you're looking for lower than that, look elsewhere. It was perfect for my needs. On a positive note, it will suck debris up to 1/2 inch, and I can tell you it does it effectively without any snafu's! Oh yeah, another plus is that it's very quiet which is nice. The only real downside that I see to this pump is the topside discharge. Once your water gets low enough, the weight of the hose will tip it over. So I had to babysit it for a bit close to the end. I believe that I will solve this by making a hard vertical pvc pipe with a 90 at the top with an extension to attach the hose to. It will be a fairly cheap fix and work well I think. You could adapt that setup to any situation that you have. Overall, I would highly recommend this pump after first use!! It performed flawlessly! The price point is unbeatable for a 3500 gal/ hr pump and a 1 hp motor. I will update after I've used it a few more times, but for now...5 stars!! ... show more

  • Bad design of float switch makes it unusable as a sump pump. DO NOT BUY
Style: 1/2HP
Design flaws make it unusable as sump pump. Float switch will stick in OFF position, will not start pumping even though its completely submerged. Pump has no pressure, im pumping 4 feet high to get water out of an inground trampoline. If you disconnect the discharge hose , air will escape, then water , then you can reconnect hose to continue pumping, but only until it runs dry first time, then you are back to sticking float problem. You can see this happen in a video review on product page and reviewer says its great its awesome, just need to read the manual or something. You will have water where its not supposed to be if you buy this pump, if you want to babysit it and jiggle it to get float unstuck then save a few dollars . Manufacturer has not responded to any emails requesting support, thankfully Amazon does returns well. ... show more

  • A little fiddly, but worked all spring to drain my yard
Style: 1HP
Worked to drain a huge pond that forms in my yard whenever it rains. It would drain an area about 15x15, maybe 6-8 inches deep, in about 2 hours. At one point, it did get clogged and I took it apart to free the float, but given it pumped out a LOT of dirt and leaves, I was pretty happy with it. I had to put it on a flat pan in the deepest part of the yard, because it didn't have enough clearance not to immediately clog on the bare ground, but the pan method worked well. You can set it to run constantly (and burn up when it's dry) or turn off when the float gets low. It was a little hard to figure out which way was which, as it's a raised bump on the plastic which was hard to read. The hose comes out straight up, which is fine for a well or deep pond, but i had to muddle together an elbow to connect my hose, otherwise it just folded over and cut off flow. It would be great if it came with an elbow piece along with the other two attachments. It's a little hard to get it going, as dropping it straight in will keep air inside, and it won't start. But with a bit of practice, I figured out how to angle it so all the air came out as it entered the water. Hope it works as well for next year. ... show more

  • Great emergency sump pump
Style: 1HP
This has been working great as an emergency sump pump while I am getting my collapsed drainage fixed. With garden hose it's able to deal with most rain situation The only confusing thing is the pump sometimes takes a while to get going. Manual seems to say it's pumping out air? I had thought it wasn't working right and tried to troubleshoot a few times ... show more
