For the inquiring minds the support ring is a "U" channel O-ring. The packing was perfect with the molded Styrofoam blocks. The glass is awesome and works great, very sturdy! Only thing is we had to unscrew the top and the bottom just to make sure the glass didn’t break, very tight squeeze if you don’t loosen the top and bottom
