We love these grab bars and have installed them in 3 of our extended family’s’ homes. There is an area in the back of the bar in the middle 1/3rd that Is made to be anti-slip. When a person who is unsteady on their feet grabs the bar, their hand won’t slip off the bar. This is critical when the bar is installed by or inside a shower or tub or anywhere an individual might need some help staying upright or if they have fallen and need to hang onto a bar that will help them pull themselves upright. The bar, installed properly, can hold the weight of a large individual. I used larger toggle bolts than came with the bar to insure the most stable and sturdy product. This is a nice solid grab bar. As with any grab bar installation, it's best to try and screw it to the studs for maximum support. Also, before installation, make sure the round ends are screwed in tight to the bar (I'm pretty sure there was a nut in the back to tighten). Otherwise, you will have some minor rattling and have to remove the entire bar to tighten...ask me how I know. ... show more

We installed the 16" one on the wall next to the entrance of our shower, so we could hold on to it if needed getting in or out. We were able to use two of the three mounting screws of both top and bottom to attach into wood studs in the walls, and the third screws had to be attached to the drywall.     • Smaller diameter than standard safety bars & lighter gauge metal but still sturdy!

The only surprise about the bars were smaller than I thought they would be in diameter & maybe a lighter gauge than the standard safety bar. But, that being said, we do like the bars (3; 1 longer, 2 shorter). We had help installing! Just to be safe, we added caulking for moisture barrier! They are sturdy and definitely gives us a piece of mind in the shower! We like that there are groves in the metal for a better gripping! The quality of the bars are good!
