After a year of suffering in a cheap uncomfortable chair while working from home, I finally took the plunge and got a Steelcase leap. I’m not sure why I waited this long! I experienced an immediate improvement in my posture and lower back pain. I also just feel so much more comfortable working in this chair. It comes fully assembled, so all you need to do is unpack the box and start working. I love the fully adjustable arm rests, which allow me to get closer to the desk when I am on video calls. I’ve seen some people questioning the price and I have to say it is totally worth it for your back health and overall comfort while working from home. I purchased the gray Leap with platinum base. The color goes well with my gray desk and the platinum base lends a softer tone than the black base. If you’ve been thinking about upgrading your home office, this chair is worth the investment.

Why did I wait so long to spend a giant chunk of money for a chair? It seemed ridiculous. I worked in one of these chairs in an office and loved it every single day, but when I saw the price I decided not to get one at home. After working at home I started to notice so much pain and spent lots of money buying cushions and other chairs etc. I was hurting so much I actually posted on Facebook to my friends and ask them what seat cushions or chairs they liked. A very smart friend asked why i was buying cushions instead of getting a better chair. Impart I wasn’t looking for a new chair because it was the pandemic and I didn’t want to go outside to a lot of stores and try on new chairs. She then asked if there was a chair in my history that I knew I could trust. Leap chair was right there in my mind!!! I did it. Spent a grand on a chair. Bought a vibrant bright blue one with platinum base. My arm rests move with me. Everything adjusts. Just everything. The lower back support is wonderful and the actual seat moves back and forth. Cushion is just right and literally removed my pain. I’m 5’8” and large sized but I’d say someone much larger would have plenty of room too. Since arm rests also can move closer to the body, I’m guess smaller people would love it too. Everyone in the office where I worked with them was happy with it. Gushing about this, but... life changer. It’s my work car/vehicle. I also bought a bamboo floor mat on Amazon. Sweet.

Just received my Steelcase Leap chair today, after weeks of sitting on a crooked gaming chair. I have sat on it for the last half hour. So far, it feels sturdy, comfortable, and supportive. Shipping was very fast. It was left on my porch in the rain for about 25 minutes, but it was double boxed, so it was fine. The box was big and a bit of a workout to get into the house and open it. The chair comes fully assembled. The main issue (and one star deduction) is that I ordered the black and platinum color, thinking it would be nice to have a brighter color for the back, however I received all black. The color isn’t too big of a deal, so I’m not going to send it back (especially due to the box size), but considering the price, I wish it was as expected. The paper taped to the box did indicate platinum on it, but the chair is all black. The warranty info is on the Steelcase website. Not a lot of paperwork with the chair itself, just the shipping information and a small sheet detailing the knob and lever functions.

I bought this new sold and shipped by amazon. They put stickers over the old shipping labels that I was able to peel off and find that the chair had a return label on it. When I opened the chair there was a one inch scratch on one of the legs. If you want to try and use the warranty you need to have the sticker underneath the chair that has the order number. I had the sticker under mine, but the order number was ripped off. So now I won’t be able to do any warranty work. Also, the seat depth adjustment is very difficult to operate on this chair and is hard to slide forward and back. Although it may just be this chair I’m not sure. But it’s not a super big deal because I will not be adjusting it again. The lumbar support system seems to chew up the plastic guides on the chair, which seems like it may cause problems in the future holding the lumbar support where I set it at. Overall I wouldn’t recommend buying this chair on amazon. You’re better off going directly to steel case website and know that you will be getting a new chair with a warranty. I’m just hoping this chair lasts and I don’t have any issues with it, since the warranty tag was ripped off.

Overall, the chair is very comfortable. This chair is replacing a Herman Miller Aeron classic chair and the Leap V2 is almost as comfortable as the Aeron. I also tried the Gesture chair but I felt like that chair was forcing me to readjust my posture while sitting. The recline option is great; the back reclines without the seat moving. The limited arm pad adjustment (compared to Gesture) was not an issue for me. The seat wobbles but that is expected (as explained by BTOD.com). The reason why this doesn't get a higher rating is because the chair smells on and after delivery. I bought this chair "Used - Like New" ship and sold from Amazon. The chair arrived in great condition (as advertised) but it had a strong chemical smell like some reviewers mentioned. The smell is similar to a hairspray product. It's a pretty strong smell and was still present even after letting the chair sit in the garage for 7 days. I tried a few different methods (as mentioned on Steelcase's website) to clean the chair and hopefully remove the smell but to no avail. I eventually gave up and started to just use the chair and hope that the smell would go away. 22 days after it was delivered, the smell is still there but not as strong as before.
