  • Great ergonomic chair for hybrid work
Color: Grey
After a year of suffering in a cheap uncomfortable chair while working from home, I finally took the plunge and got a Steelcase leap. I’m not sure why I waited this long! I experienced an immediate improvement in my posture and lower back pain. I also just feel so much more comfortable working in this chair. It comes fully assembled, so all you need to do is unpack the box and start working. I love the fully adjustable arm rests, which allow me to get closer to the desk when I am on video calls. I’ve seen some people questioning the price and I have to say it is totally worth it for your back health and overall comfort while working from home. I purchased the gray Leap with platinum base. The color goes well with my gray desk and the platinum base lends a softer tone than the black base. If you’ve been thinking about upgrading your home office, this chair is worth the investment. ... show more

  • Excellent Desk Chair
Color: Licorice Black Fabric
This chair is well made, very comfortable and easy to adjust for your best support position. I have used it daily since I received it and expect to have it for a long time. Great purchase - expensive but an excellent value given how much time I spend sitting in it.

  • High Quality Chair Good for Back Issues
Color: Black
I took away one star for price. But maybe that's not fair. I searched high and low for quality office chairs at an affordable price. It seemed like they were either around $100 and low quality or around $1,000 and I was worried to spend so much. However, I am thrilled with my chair. I do wish there were a middle ground price point but it is what it is. Plus, I imagine the cost is including shipping the chair FULLY ASSEMBLED. That is very convenient. I have low back problems and this is supportive. My complaints about previous chairs were the seat was not comfortable and not deep enough. This seat you can adjust the depth, the arms, the lumbar, height, everything! I highly recommend watching the video to see the adjustment process. I think this will work best if you take the time to adjust properly. The lumbar adjustment is great! Also, I like the adjustment for how much you have to push to lean back. It was a high price but then again I'm sitting in this everyday for almost 8 hours... ... show more

  • All the right Comfort adjustments
Color: Blue Jay Fabric
All the previous reviews were so right about the comfort and easy assembly. I've never had a chair with so many different adjustments available. I've tried a variety of adjustments to find the right ones for me. No more backache after a couple of hours of intense data entry. The adjustable armrests have made for a better rest and use point to prevent the shoulder muscle pulls I previously had. I no longer question my crazy decision to spend this much money. There is no doubt about the value of this purchase. ... show more

  • Backrest padding is non-existent
Color: Blue
The backrest always feels like sitting against hard plastic, and I'm 5'11, 155 LB's. chair is mostly plastic armrests are not very comfy the seat is a rounded arch, and no it's not comfy either, its hard. Backrest adjustments make minimal changes Softest lumbar setting still pushes into lower back lumbar support has this physical plastic bar you move in the backrest on both sides, which means it could get stuck at an angle, it would be better without it. Chair moved upper back pain to lower back, due to sitting against hard plastic, after a few hours my lower back tightens up and then I have to lay on the floor no support for upper back The only likeable aspect to this chair is that the seat moves forward when you lean back.... but for $1000+, I should love this chair, not hate it. ... show more

  • Comfortable chair, but it smells!
Color: Alpine
Overall, the chair is very comfortable. This chair is replacing a Herman Miller Aeron classic chair and the Leap V2 is almost as comfortable as the Aeron. I also tried the Gesture chair but I felt like that chair was forcing me to readjust my posture while sitting. The recline option is great; the back reclines without the seat moving. The limited arm pad adjustment (compared to Gesture) was not an issue for me. The seat wobbles but that is expected (as explained by BTOD.com). The reason why this doesn't get a higher rating is because the chair smells on and after delivery. I bought this chair "Used - Like New" ship and sold from Amazon. The chair arrived in great condition (as advertised) but it had a strong chemical smell like some reviewers mentioned. The smell is similar to a hairspray product. It's a pretty strong smell and was still present even after letting the chair sit in the garage for 7 days. I tried a few different methods (as mentioned on Steelcase's website) to clean the chair and hopefully remove the smell but to no avail. I eventually gave up and started to just use the chair and hope that the smell would go away. 22 days after it was delivered, the smell is still there but not as strong as before. ... show more

  • My favorite office chair. Pricier but 100% worth it to me.
Color: Black
I had one of these chairs in the office for 6 years and loved it. It's now been just shy of 3 years since I purchased this for my home office. Zero issues with it. I've been working from home since Covid and wanted/need a high end chair. I was making do with a cheapy gaming rocker style chair that was marketed as "ergonicic" with a back pillow and was miserable. The Steelcase Leap is a true ergonomic chair and it's definitely worth the money with the hours per day I'm sitting in it. I'm also a PC gamer. This is the most used chair in the house by wide margin. ... show more

  • Don't waste your money on the Leap. Pay slightly more for the much better and more modern Gesture.
Color: Licorice Black Fabric
I have a Gesture at work and I bought a Leap for working at home. I wanted a different chair to alternate between any potential pressure points. I will go straight to the main flaw of this chair: the terrible seat pan! Modern ergonomics guidance from Cornell calls for thicker padding in the back of the cushion that gradually thins out as you move towards the front edge of the cushion. The Leap pan is designed in the exact opposite way.: very thin inadequate padding in the back and thicker padding closer to the knees that presses on the back of your thighs despite the flexible front of the pan. Perhaps they did this out of a misguided goal of making a "contoured" seat pan. Regardless, I found out posterior pain and thigh underside pain are very common complaints about this chair, including in some of the reviews here. The Gesture seat pan follows Cornell's guidance and is comfortable to sit on for hours and hours, with no pain whatsoever. The Leap is an old obsolete chair designed using antiquated ergonomics principles. Slapping V2 next to its name doesn't change that. Shame on Steelcase for trying to milk some more dollars from the reputation of this old and now obsolete design. Yes, the flexible upper back is nice, and the lumbar support is very decent and quite adjustable. But the Gesture's padding of the upper back achieves the same function and the lumbar support feels more naturally conforming and more evenly supportive. Yes, the adjustable arms of the Leap are quite good, but they can't hold a candle to the far more adjustable and comfortable armrests of the Gesture. If you are willing to pay $900 for a chair, just pay another $100 for the Gesture, a chair that is ten times better. And don't believe some of the review sites that claim the Leap is more universally comfortable, i.e. more people find it comfortable when buying sight unseen. That's because they are in the business of reselling refurbished Leaps. And these outlets tout how they use much better padding when refurbishing the Leap and they offer it even as an upgrade service. What does that tell you? I missed the return date by a few days and I am now stuck with this grossly overpriced chair. I still gave it two stars, but if you factor in its price, it deserves only one star. ... show more
