I love my Staub braiser and use it like a cast iron skillet most of the time. It's beautiful and easy to clean. I've had Lodge and La Creuset cookware and they're great, but I really love my Staub a lot. The lid is different than the others because it has these little dots that spread out the condensation over the entire area of whatever I'm cooking rather than just down the sides. I've seen other reviews talking about the quality but I've been using mine for over a year with any issues in chipping or scratching. Yes, it's expensive. However, you'll never have to buy another one for a very long time. I would highly recommend it! ... show more

This is a beautiful, great pan but not any better at not sticking than bare stainless. Garlic and seasonings, eggs, tomatoes and most sauces stick. And because you cannot use abrasive pads, it’s hard to clean. Looks like I will need to season it just like any other cast iron or stainless pan.

I love all of my Staub cookware. This braiser is definitely no one trick pony. I use it almost everyday for many different dishes. It easily goes from the stovetop to the oven and then to the table top... It is easy to clean, browns food well when searing due to the black textured interior, and locks in moisture for long slow cooks due to the heavy tight fitting lid. The first pan that I ordered arrived damaged and I submitted a claim. The second pan arrived in great condition and has been in use since the day it came. The return process was easy for the first pan. I noticed that inside the box, there were no plastic lid guards to protect the edges of both the lid and pan as I have received with all of my other Staub cookware. This would easily prevent damage during shipping and prolong the life of the pan if used regularly when storing. I'm not sure why they chose not to put those on this pan but it would be great if they did. ... show more

I was skeptical at first. We have some Costco heavy cast iron that are similar to this. But there is a difference. Cleans easy cooks evenly and we have made lots of good meals on the pan.
