The first one we received had a broken heating element, but an quick exchange was easy. The second one is working fine. Easy to assemble- it comes with full instructions that are pretty much self explanatory. The heat output doesn’t come close to propane, obviously, but for an electric heater it does a pretty good job. We have it on a covered deck right in the center of a group setting of 3 chairs. If you’re sitting right near ir, it takes just a minute (literally) to feel the heat. We haven’t had any issues with surges or flipping a breaker…older homes may be more likely to experience this based on my previous experiences with electric heaters. It’s too soon to know yet what, if any effect it will have on the power bill. There is no heat setting…it’s either on or off. The base is very heavy and sturdy. 👍🏻

We purchased this for our outdoor open patio for our dogs. You have to be directly under the lamp to feel anything. Even left out one of the post sections to make it shorter to reach the pets. High energy consumption for the heat output is not good. Returned.

I received my standing patio electric heater My wife and I unpacked the item, no instructions, no screws, 4 metal poles one was bent would not screw into the extension pole, plugged unit in and it did not even turn on.... Absolute GARBAGE How can you survive as a company with this poor of a quality inspection before shipping items out to customer, HOW??? How can Amazon do business with and represent a company like this "Star Patio" Then I call Amazon and they tell me to donate the item instead of returning it, who do you know cause I dont know anyone that wants an ITEM that DOES NOT WORK do you???

We got this heater in November. It doesn’t put off much heat, but I didn’t expect it to for the size. But then all of a sudden it stopped working. I turned it on the other day and it’s just stared smoking… which is alarming. Do not recommend this heater.

So I decided to give this electric heater a try for an out door patio event for 12 people. People kept asking me if they were lamps because they didn’t have much heat except when you get your hand close enough to it. I saw my house lights lights flickering as soon as I turned them on. They consume a lot of electricity. Definitely not worth the price and effort. I’m the future, I’ll stick with the good old gas heaters.

The media could not be loaded. I have to confess that when I saw these reviews, I wasn't expecting a lot from this Star Patio Electric Heater. However, after assembling and using it, I have a mostly positive view of the heater. For one thing, it was super easy to assemble with some pole sections to screw together, a couple of screws to put in the top into a couple of holes that actually lined up, a few clamps to hold the power cord and that was it. I will say that assembling the base will go faster if you have someone to help you because the base is heavy and would be challenging to hold up while screwing in the base bolt with an Allen Wrench. The heater has an on/off switch controlled by pulling down a cord. There are no gradations of heat. The Patio Heater is either on or off. This is not a heater for outdoors on a rainy day, nor is it a heater for brutally cold days. It is not for all heating but is for patios and screened in porches on cool days and evenings. The heat is perfect for those conditions but you will want to sit fairly close to it. The good thing is that because it is electric, you will not breathe fumes as you sit close to it. It can be bolted to the floor but most people will likely want to move it around for optimal heating. When used for its best purpose, the heater excels.

Easy to assemble and works great. Came slightly dented unfortunately, didn't effect the operation of unit. Doesn't come with a cover so keep that in mind as well.

We live in SoCal and we spend a great deal of time outdoors. We already have a fire pit, which makes it nice when we are hanging out in the patio during the evenings. But.... we needed something else for some extra warmth... This is perfect because I dont have to struggle to refill gas tanks, I can just plug it into the outdoor plugs and voila... heat! It was easy to assemble and everyone at home loved it!
