  • Great customer service from Speed Force!
After using my chipper for a few months the weld holding the hopper to the hinge broke. I contacted Speed Force through the Amazon website and they responded in less than an hour. They asked me to send them a photo of the damage. As soon as they received the photo they shipped me a new hopper from China which arrived in less than a week. They were also very helpful in answering my other questions. If you find you are having problems with your chipper, make sure you read the manual (I didn't read it all!). Make sure you also contact Speed Force through the Amazon website and they will answer your questions quickly (at least that was my experience). Regarding replacement blades for the chipper, Speed Force told me that they will be on sale on Amazon in late December. ... show more

  • Great Chipper!
This is a great self feeding homeowner chipper. It is lightweight , easy to use and does a great job chipping wood up to about 2 inches in diameter depending on the type and how hard or dry the wood is. You have to be careful with anything larger as it may stall it. Also, because it is a drum chipper I think it does a better job chipping than it does mulching or shredding which is what I wanted. I can mulch leaves and such with my mulching lawnmower and bag them at the same time. I also think the shape of feed chute is a real plus because it is shaped so you can feed crooked branches through it, not just straight branches like many of them have. I believe the only thing it needs is a handle to wheel it around a little easier. ... show more

  • You may have to buy screws!
Purchased the Speed Force pocket hole system. It looks well built heavy aluminum. Includes all that it says. Read the manual put everything together and started to drill on a piece of 1/2" scrap wood to check it out. So far so good. Put a couple of screws through the holes and realized, woops, used the wrong length of screws. The manual list 4 different sizes of screws are included with the kit. I pour out all the screws in the bag and line them up. Guess what? They are all 1-1/4' screws. Much too long when working with 1//2 plywood. Searching my workbench thinking I misplaced the other screws, there are no other screws. Yes, the description only states screws. But, the manual lists 4 different size screws are included. Now I am off to a big box store to try and locate screws. ... show more

  • Gets the job done under the right circumstances. A very hungry beaver but be careful.
Assembly was easy. Only hard part is lifting the engine onto the stand once assembled. They supply some tools but oddly not ones that fit the bolts for assembly Added oil and gas and was quickly up and running. Chipped A Lot of redwood, oak and pine. I have only used a few electric chippers in the past. This is my first gas powered unit. Be careful as with most gas powered things it does get very hot. PROS: It runs for quite a while on a tank of gas. It's smaller than you think. So it can go almost anyplace. But it really does need a handle. It eats up and spits out very nice tiny chips when you feed it things within its range. Fed it up to 8' branches that were 1 -1.5" and it quickly chipped them. Redwood leaves were fine. Oak leaves and other things needed assistance. The con of its lack of safety features is also a plus in that my model just had an on/off switch, so I could just leave the inlet chute unscrewed and open it to let any jams get spit out. (It has a few safety issues so why not go all the way - as long as you are careful) This made cleaning the occasional clog very easy. Replacing or spinning the blades is easy with the right tools. They were Very tight. I needed to use a ratchet gun with socket to get the bolds out. But they were very accessible. It's always been very easy to start. I wish some gas chainsaws I have had were as easy. CONS: This is not and leaf mulcher. It hates foliage. It does not want to go down the hopper. Anything above 1" feed slowly. Anything above 2" don't bother. It will stall the engine. It needs an engine with more torgue. The hopper is way too small and short. Do not let children near it. It can easily eat a hand and is short enough for a child to easily stick their hand in. It can also eat your hand. There is no safety prevention like on most electric chippers. You will want to save some branches just to add as a shove stick. Since there is nothing to stop things going all the way in there is no supplied "shove stick". The only useable "shove stick" is a piece you want chipped or a 2X6 as a 2X6 will not fit all the way down. It Will try to eat a 2X4 and then stall if you are not careful. Do not bother feeding it wood less than 1 foot in length if you don't have a shove stick, as it will just sit in the hopper and chatter until being spit out. You will need a shove stick to try and force it through. Again It can easily eat your hand. Always use a shove stick. It will want to stall out on thicker (1-2") pieces. If you feed it gently you can work around it mostly. It hates leaves and live foliage. The hopper is just too small so it clogs up and they won't reach the teeth. Also as with most mulchers if the foliage is live, it can clog. ... show more

  • Keep looking unless you are using it for UNDER 2"
First it wouldn't start... I got that figured out. (compression issue) The design is poor and it struggles to stay stable due to such a small base. If I were to keep it, I would probably make something to fix that issue. This is a twig chipper PERIOD... Unless the bigger stuff was long and skinny. It Doesn't like if the brush fans out too much. It absolutely under no circumstances could do 2 1/4" let alone 3" like their promo video states. The seal on the carburetor is already failing after ONE hour of use. The seal is more of a plastic not a rubber. So that's a huge oversight. replacement parts are hard to find too at times it seems. Also the wheels are plastic. PROS: I liked that it was a rotary chipper, and also that it was compact. ... show more

  • chips everything I throw at it up to 3" and creates very fine mulch
chips everything. We have a huge pile of branches cut from various trees. I was worried this chipper will be too small for the job but it performed beyond my expectations. I used it twice already. First time for 2 hours and 2nd time 6 hours with a lunch break in between. No issues whatsoever. 2" branches, 3" branches - anything that can feed through the hopper. Only stalled a few times when I completely jammed the hopper by forcing too much, and restarted immediately afterwards. Super happy with the purchase. ... show more
