Description

The home court is where legends begin. This portable hoop system gives you a place to dial in your jump shots and tighten up your crossover. It has an acrylic backboard with a rebound rivaled only by glass. The board comes equipped with arena-style padding and a heavy-duty rim to withstand vicious dunks. The Screw Jack lift system is easy enough for even the youngest players on your team to use, and the Ultimate Hybrid® base takes less time to assemble than a traditional base. It calls for a mix of water and sand, which you can load in with no tilting required. A cover on top keeps the ballast out of sight for a clean look.

After reading some of the previous reviews, I was a little bit concerned about the amount of time, effort and difficulty some people said it was to assemble this particular Portable basket ball hoop. Well, I am here to tell you, it was not that difficult, and I assembled it on the tailgate of my pickup truck 100% by myself in about 3 hours. Does it take some mechanical skills to assemble? yes it does. Does it take some reading skills to understand the instructions? yes it does. For the most part, if you follow the instructions and use the correct hardware provided in the plastic bags labeled for each step in the assembly, you wont have a problem. the only part that was a little irritating to me was the fact that you have to keep referring to previous pages to figure out the hardware needed for a particular step in the process. kind of like a government regulation book where they keep having you refer to different pages to get the full intention of the rule. In my opinion, if you are going to attempt to take this project on? Make sure you have the proper tools and skill level to take on a somewhat complex assembly project. The beauty of this portable hoop is, it's very sturdy when weighted properly with sand bags or water (I prefer sand bags) and it is very adjustable for height, the manual states 7'6" for its lowest position but when lowered all the way it gets down to just an inch or two over 7 feet. My 6 year old son loves it and I find myself out there often with him shooting hoops and enjoying his company. ... show more

I hesitated to buy this hoop based on what others were saying about assembly, but I decided to go with it because I really liked this one over the others. The assembly was actually pretty straight forward if you read the directions and use a bit of common sense. Most of the bags with the hardware are labeled and the directions have a reference for what's it in each bag. There's no need to measure each bolt to see if you have the correct one, but you do need to flip back to the page in the directions that lists the parts in each bag. I assembled about 95% of it by myself and only needed help from my wife when it was time to bolt on the backboard. Total assembly time was about 3.5 hours. I can echo what DC and Tech_dad had to say in their review so I'm not going to repeat what has already been recommended. Read their reviews for setup tips....particularly, pay attention to the orientation of the middle pole with the base. It is easy to correct if you mount it on the base backwards like I did. It was just 4 bolts to undo and then spin the pole around to the correct orientation. Overall, the hoop seems pretty sturdy, and doesn't have any vibration sounds when shooting baskets. I like that the base has a cutout for the sand bags and a cover so that they are hidden from view. ... show more

    • Spalding doesn't honor warranty

I bought this in March 2023 and the base cracked while attaching the pole. I contacted Spalding warranty right away and they agreed it was a warranty issue and would replace it. Based on that I allowed the Amazon return window to expire. They sent the wrong base a month later that wasn't compatible with the rest of the set. I notified them and they said they'd send the correct base but they were out of stock and the next batch would be manufactured in 2 months which is ridiculous. But I waited and it wasn't delivered in June so I called. They only manufactured 6 bases and I wasn't high enough on the list to get one, and they had no idea when they'd make more. I twice asked customer service to talk to a supervisor but they were always unavailable and never returned a call. It's clear Spalding was fine with me waiting indefinitely for a replacement part for a $1000 basketball hoop and didn't feel they even owed me an explanation. And that it's not just me getting this treatment. Thankfully Amazon made it right but Spalding had no integrity at all in the 3+ months I dealt with them on this. ... show more

I'm really happy that I chose to get the glass back board! It is awesome! I wish I had a third hand to help assembling it but I managed to do it on my own in about 5 hours... I would at minimum recommend to have a helping hand standing it up but I also managed to do it myself and I am not a very strong guy. Instructions were good enough to follow. Overall, it is my first hoop I ever bought, assembled or owned so I can't tell you that there is nothing better out there at that price point, but I am really pleased how well the ball bounces off of the back board and how sturdy it is!!! ... show more
