No comparison to a stand up driveway unit filled with water or sand. Plays like a gym system. I was concerned about the "wobbling" reviews. I took my time and set the anchors in about 50 inches of concrete. If you brick a shot, or use the backboard heavily, it does shake for a few seconds. Nothing that concerns me. The backboard is very heavy. A few OSHA laws may or may not have been broken hanging it up. Something about a ladder in the back of a pickup truck. In the words of my 11 year old: "It's amazing!" We just got this at Amazon, it arrived quickly (through one of their sellers) and was in perfect condition. The install is similar to what everyone described here - my husband did it over the course of a week or so due to our schedules. Because we had read the reviews here, he bought more concrete than the instruction called for - about 10 bags which worked perfectly. The system's been up for about 1 week and is great - very little shake, plays like a professional system. We have an 11 year old son and 10 year old daughter who both love to play and this system is great, expect it will grow with them through the years. My husband's been shooting on it too and has commented on how awesome it is! We had a Lifetime portable system that was 15+ years old - so shaky (and loud when they shot!) and in hindsight should have been replaced long ago. This new net is sturdy and expect it will remain that way for years. Great price on Amazon - consistent or lower than the big box stores. I took a while to decide what to get and where because I couldn't "see" it and see how sturdy it was so didn't want to spend that kind of money if not sturdy. If you're thinking of buying, go see in the store, if necessary and buy here - the store display isn't that great so you really can't get a feel for truly how sturdy it will be when setup until you actually see one that is installed properly in the ground. But I can assure you, there is very little shake when they are shooting. Love it! ... show more

The goal is made of very sturdy construction and is great for my driveway. This would be a good fit for a home court of any size. I also like that the main pole is one piece, which makes it stronger. I found that many competitors offered structural poles that were 2 pieces. Assembly was very straightforward and instructions were easy to follow. I was able to assemble and erect it with the help of two friends (three of us total). I recommend using a pickup truck bed to stand in while mounting the backboard. It's fairly heavy and requires that 2-3 people hold it while one person installs the bolts. It would've been very difficult to do off of ladders. There was one dent on the 5" pole that occurred during shipping (no fault of the seller). Informed the seller of the issue and they immediately sent me a pole pad to cover the dent and help prevent rust. I like that the anchor bolt system will allow me to uninstall the goal and take it with me if I ever move houses. Overall I am extremely pleased with the purchase and the seller. ... show more

I read the other reviews and dismissed the fact they didn’t receive the pole as a fluke. Nope, I too did not receive a pole. Trying to work through warehouse who delivered. No dice. Now working through manufacturer. I now have 2 weeks to return.

    • Good Goal Except for Rim

The goal is great. Assembly was not a problem. Very little wobble of the backboard when playing. My only complaint is that the rim does not seem to be made to be dunked on at all. Dunked on it one time and pulled the rim down a little and now it rattles when the ball hits it. Tried tightening up spring and screws but it didn't help. The rim is described as a "breakaway rim", which, according to anyone who plays basketball, means that it's made to be dunked on so that it can "break away" from the backboard and not damage the glass. Apparently these "breakaway rims" are not intended to be broken away from the backboard. I contacted Goalrilla and they said that dunking on the goal is not covered under the warranty. Pretty lame, but as long as you don't dunk on this goal I think you'll be fine. ... show more

    • Just an Awesome Basketball Goal/Rim/Net

We were looking at purchasing a Goalrilla basketball system for a few years now. The newer GS54 seems to be of the same quality as the older models and though it's a little cheaper than the old series it feels rock solid. Either way, we finally decided to pull the trigger and get it in place for a recent party. Assembly is pretty easy but the instructions are a little off on the amount of concrete it says is needed. We went through 12 x 80lb bags of Quickrete and we dug our hold according to specs so word of advice buy extra concrete. Two more bags should not cost you more than an additional $10 so save yourself some hassle. I had 10 bags mixed (2 at a time) and poured them into the hole before finding out I needed two more!!! Good thing is I am minutes away from Home Depot. Outside of that I managed to get the pole up myself and bolted and to get the rim up I backed my pickup up to the post and hefted the backboard onto the mounting arm while my wife put the bolts on. You'll probably be better off with 2-3 people to help with that step but I had to try it myself. Final result is an absolutely great basketball system that plays like a professional system! ... show more

This is the best Basketball Rim by far on the market. The rim is very sturdy and it has my entire family playing on it here on St.Croix US Virgin Islands . Installation was a breeze even though it took me a few days to dig the 48 inch hole. I dug a foot each day and throw some water in hole after each dig to soften soil for the next digging. There is no rattle after the ball hits the rim and the backboard is as firm as it gets. I am into building so I added extra steel, sand and gravel to my cement to create a stronger base. The price is well worth i just wish it came with the padding for the pole but its good product for the price regardless. Repeat, Its the best and its worth getting it for the family. ... show more
