Description

Lifetime's portable basketball hoops are the perfect option for beginning and seasoned players alike! With a portable base and a telescoping adjustment from 7.5 to 10 feet, this hoop can be moved to the perfect spot in your yard or driveway for whoever is playing. The backboard is made of uv-protected polyethylene paired with a polycarbonate playing surface, and will not crack, chip, or peel. Invite friends, new and old, to make great memories together Enjoy years of recreational basketball fun in your backyard with this Lifetime Pro Court Portable Basketball System (model 1269). It features a Pro Court base--which can be filled with sand or water for weighting--and a 44-inch sturdy acrylic fusion backboard, giving you the confidence to go up strong without fear of breaking it. The backboard also offers screen-printed graphics with UV-protected inks, and fade-resistant color. The classic rim comes with a nylon net. The three-piece, 2.75-inch round telescoping pole joins the solid base and backboard, and it adjusts from 7.5 feet to 10 feet in 6-inch increments. Lifetime's 1269 Portable Basketball System will adjust from 7.5 to 10 feet tall in six-inch increments. Portable basketball systems depend on a base filled with sand or water for stability. Although it will take up more space than an in-ground system, the portable base rolls on wheels, allowing players to position the basketball system in the desired location (and also allowing storage in a garage). Simply assemble, fill the base, and star shooting some hoops. There is no fussing with concrete.Key Features:Break-resistant acrylic playing surface High-impact, molded polyethylene frame Fade-resistant graphics Classic rim with welded steel net hooks Nylon net included Telescoping height adjustment allows you to adjust from 7.5 to 10 feet in 6-inch increments No tools required for assembly Powder coated rust-resistant finish 27-gallon portable base Fills with sand or water Rolls to desired location Basketball System Buying Guide With the high-quality construction of many portable basketball systems, turning your driveway into a basketball court can be as simple as hooking up your garden hose. But while a portable system may ultimately be your best choice, there are reasons you may want to consider an in-ground or wall-mount system before you decide.In-Ground Systems In-ground systems are permanently cemented into the ground--either via a bolt mounting kit or directly into the ground-- and are generally more rigid and take up less space than portables. In-ground systems often require that you hire a professional to complete the task, but when the cement dries you'll have a hoop that can take punishing dunks with ease. Many in-ground systems are height-adjustable, include removable post features that let you take the system down for off-season storage, and feature heavy-duty break-away rims. You'll also want to research the adjustable mechanisms on the systems, as there are several types to choose from. Some feature a counter-balance spring that lets you perform easy, one-hand adjustments while others may feature a sturdy, pneumatic system.Wall-Mount Systems Wall-mount systems can be mounted to the side of a house, a tall retaining wall, or a garage. Generally sturdier than portables, wall-mounts have the added advantage of optimizing your existing ground space for the court, since you won't take any space up with the base or pole. Not all systems include the necessary hardware, so make certain you add a mounting kit to your list.Portable Systems Portable systems require minimal installation and offer ultimate convenience. These systems generally feature a base that can be filled with sand or water to stabilize them and include wheels for portability. Although they are not as sturdy as in-ground or wall-mounted hoops, portables are simple to set up and can often be folded for convenient storage.Backboard Considerations Regardless of which system you choose, you'll want to brush up on Backboards 101. Most residential systems feature backboards made of acrylic, fiberglass, graphite, or various other composite materials. While clear acrylic gives the professional look and feel of glass, it is not as rigid as fiberglass or graphite. Some systems may offer steel or aluminum backboards, which are virtually vandal resistant, but don't offer the true rebounding action. The regulation size of an NBA backboard is 72 inches wide and 42 inches high. Most portable hoops are 42 or 44 inches wide and 36 inches tall. In-ground systems tend to be a bit larger, with 54-inch and 60-inch widths being the most popular. While rectangular shaped backboards provide more bank shot opportunities, they are generally more expensive than the streamlined fan-shaped board.

  • Great inexpensive option for street hoop
*The Pitch*: I haven’t had a basketball hoop in front of my house in 20 years. So I didn’t want to spend a lot in case I ended up not using it that much. *The Package*: This is a retail package. It’s a large bound cardboard box with black print. *The Fit*: This is a great starter hoop. At under $150, I’m pretty pleased with this purchase. The entire goal was relatively easy to put together. I did it by myself in about 1.5 hrs. Just be careful with it once it’s fully constructed but before you add water or sand to the base. It is pretty wobbly in this state. I will also add that I chose to fill the base with water and an added BaseGel polymeric stabilizer. It was MUCH easier than adding sand, and due to the way it evenly solidified, I feel like it’s more stable overall. I have no issues with wavering or moving during play. The ball does feel a little less springy when bouncing off the backboard, but that is to be expected with just about any portable hoop. It’s not particularly noticeable, and it doesn’t affect gameplay. *The Good*: Easy to build and relatively inexpensive. *The Bad*: Rebounding balls are a little less springy, but only a little. The backboard is a little small (but every goal in this price range was the same size) *The Bottom Line*: I researched basketball goals for a week before I settled on this one. I was worried about the quality due to the low cost, but it has a very high overall rating for a reason. I don’t think you can buy a better hoop for the money. ... show more

  • Best hoop under $300
This basketball hoop is fantastic for the price, it's good and sturdy, very solid, and looks good. The backboard is a great size for the price range again, it's the only part that seems a little flimsy/ cheap, but after testing it out fairly throughly it seems solid. Adjusts from 7 1/2 to 10 ft, it's not particularly easy to adjust it, you really need to be an adult to do it, and a reasonably strong man to do it alone, but two people no problem. Honestly though it's not something that I really adjust very often so it doesn't bother me, especially to get an easy adjusting hoop would cost you an extra 100 bucks more. Got this hoop for $160 in sale, after seeing it I would easily be willing to spend $220 or so on it. Lastly it has kind of confusing directions, but excellent online video directions, just follow along with those. ... show more

  • Great product!
Easy to put together. Simple instructions. My 10 year old and I put it together in about 1-1/2 hours. Seems pretty sturdy. I used 4 sand bags stacked on top of the base to keep it in place. Easy to adjust the height. Just pop a bolt out (no tools needed to do this) lower or raise the pole to your preferred height, put the bolt back in and tighten the nut. It’s a large plastic Star nut that screws on to the bolt so you can loosen and tighten it by hand. Overall satisfied so far. Will keep you updated! ... show more

  • Nice for the price
Fairly easy to assemble. I'm a 58 yr old grandmother and did it by myself in about 3 hrs. Make sure to read all instructions before starting assembly. The rim is hard to attach because of the position of the bolts. You will need an adjustable wrench to secure one end while tightening the other end. A 1/2 inch ratchet will also come in handy while attaching the rim. I gave it 4 stars because it took so long to fill the base. I used sand and pea stones. Seems like they could come with something better than a one inch hole. It seems sturdy enough so far. My grandson is only 7 so it will be fine for him. The backboard is a bit shaky so it may not be a good choice for older more serious players. Layups will be almost impossible because you will hit the pole or trip over the base. You should put it where you want it before filling the base because it's difficult to move. Mine is in back yard so if yours is on concrete it may be easier to move. Time will tell if it can withstand the wind here. It seems sturdy enough. I can always stabilize the base with a bag of sand. All in all it's a decent unit for the price. ... show more

  • My son likes it...
The directions were pretty clear. I did almost the entire assembly. There were a couple times in the process when it was a little hard to do without any help. I wish they had warned me earlier in the directions that a couple metal bars were meant to bend: I freaked out when I took a brief break (and therefore let the partially assembled thing rest on the ground) and found that one of the pieces had bent. Well, that was the part meant to be bendable. For now, I have used the option to fill it with water. With water in it, it is fairly hard to move (yes, it has wheels, but the wheels engage only if the pole is partly tipped, and it is hard to tip it. That's the point, after all: when it is fully loaded, it should NOT tip). I would not recommend sand for anyone on the smaller size (like my wife and I) if you have any intention of ever wanting to move it. As it is, when I need to store it more safely in winter (when the winds pick up where I live), I will have to drain off some of the water (which won't be the easiest thing, but I imagine that removing sand would be far worse). It vibrates a little when the ball hits the backboard, but it won't interfere with playing. So while I give only 4 stars for each of "easy to assemble", "maneuverability" and "sturdiness", it basically does what I want (for my son), so I am happy for the cost. I have not had it long, but I will downgrade the rating only if something goes wrong. ... show more

  • Works great
I am 59, and I put this together while the hubby was at work. I wheeled it on to the drive way and started shooting hoops the same day. Very durable and alot of fun. Got it for myself for my birthday.
