I agree with John Ryan's review. The model numbers are newer and the arm has clearly been reinforced. This is a safe product and seller. The video was helpful. Both paper and video directions came in handy. Realistically, it takes an hour to put together. It is probably simpler to put together than a lot of other hoops on the market. I filled the base with water and 2 Gallons of bio safe -100F Antifreeze. To be safe, I also added a bag with 120lbs of sand onto of the base. For security, I added a Samsung SmartTag Plus to the frame. My kids love it, especially the 8ft to 10ft crank option. We've been using our hoop every day. The board and base are solid. There is barely any reverb after the ball hits. ... show more

Like another review said, watch the video before you put it together. It was very helpful to do that and see how this thing comes together. The written instructions are not great in missing some steps. So having the video in your mind definitely is necessary to put this together. Definitely a two-man job but not that difficult. I've put these hoops together before and this was definitely easier than some of the other ones. Not 30 minutes like the video says. It can take 30 minutes just to get everything out of the packaging. More like a couple hours between taking everything out of the box, finding all the right sockets and having everything together. I used water to fill it and three sandbags for the extra weight. But it seems like a solid construction and looks really nice. Definitely easier and not as cheap as the other ones where you have to assemble everything. Hope it stands the test of time. ... show more

Front bracket broke when somebody fell into it. Spalding said it wasn't covered of course and the replacement parts cost as much as buying a new system. The base also made out of a weak plastic that leaked a couple of weeks after I received it. Used a plastic sealer to take care of the leak. To think I waited so long for this hoop. It was easy to put together but i would stay away from this flimsy product. Spalding customer service is the absolute worst. ... show more

So I checked the backboard number and it was 2011 not 1010 1011 or 1012 and the arm had these reinforced areas not present on recalled units. Look at the added pictures. Overall I put this together myself in about an hour. It was easy and simple. The only thing wrong in the directions was lifting and lowering the basket was the opposite that the directions say. So cranking clockwise lowers mine and counter clockwise raises it. Glad I didn't break it trying it the way it was in the directions. I hope it keeps working. As a portable basket it's pretty solid and the bounce off the rim is really nice. I'm happy with it for what it is. I paid $500 for 54" non clear unit. It's 650 at the box stores. Base had a small slice in the bottom of the plastic causing the water to leak out of the bottom steadily. Just put it together and used it for about 15 minutes. Back board and rim seems very sturdy, but worried that the hoop will tip over through the night once the water leaks out of the bottom.
