My pellet stove installation has to clear a 4 foot section of concrete wall so the vent pipe comes out of the stove, then straight up five feet then a 90 degree bend and then through the wall. The total length is just short of 9 feet. I wanted to be able to clean the vent pipe without disassembling it so I purchased this kit. I thought having the flexible rods would do it. I removed the bottom cap on the 'T' section coming out of the stove and removed the outside cap so I could push the brush through. I was very happy that the brush and rod made the 90 degree bend with no problems. I just pushed the first section in, connected it to my drill and ran it all the way in. I disconnected the drill, added the second rod, reconnected the drill and continued until the brush came out of the bottom of the 'T' inside. I then pulled the rods and brush out and that was it. The vent pipe was clean and the entire process took only a few minutes. Bottom line- this kit works well and can easily negotiate at least one 90 degree bend. I only needed the three inch brush but a 4 inch brush is included. It is well worth it for the piece of mind of having clean, unobstructed vents. ... show more

These rods are very good at snaking through a vent stack that has 45 or 90 degree fittings. You can bend the rods almost 90 degrees to get the rods down the stack and they work very well even went bent while the drill is spinning them. You get two brushes one of 3" and one for 4" vent pipe but I wish the bristles were a little stiffer. The only downfall to this system is there is not a set screw to prevent the threaded rods from unscrewing in the pipe if you happen to reverse the drill. The instructions tell you to prevent the rods from unscrewing, secure them with tape in the event you accidentally reverse the drill. I didn't have a problem and cleaned my vent stack with this equipment but I wanted to test the instructions after I was done so I taped up all the joints with electrical tape. Tape was applied and wound very tight 1 inch above and below each threaded joint then I inserted three sections of the rods into the pipe. I used a Milwaukee M18 cordless drill with the speed switch on 1 to produce no more than 400 RPMs, trigger was half depressed when I ran the drill in the forward position. Switched over to reverse and did the same thing. In just a few seconds the resistance in the pipe dropped way off so I extracted the rods. The brush that screws onto the first rod (this was taped using same process above) came unscrewed and was stuck in my vent pipe, no worries though as I had a plan in place prior to performing this experiment. For someone who is not careful, they need a set screw at each joint hence the lack of five stars. 10 year update. This kit is still going strong, however a few rods have become kinked after many uses. I just purchased another kit, I'm hopeful they didn't change the rod construction. In 10 seasons of use with my pellet stove, I have never had a rod unscrew because I'm careful not to reverse the drill. ... show more

Great product. Works perfectly! I purchased this to be able to clean my own pellet stove instead of pay 150-200 every year to have it done. My stove vents through the roof and I have approx 25 feet of 4" vent that has 4-45 degree elbows in it. I was really unsure if this product would work well for my use due to the length of the vent pipe but I ordered 4 extra 3' extensions and I was able to use 21' of the extension rods no problem down my vent. The brush goes down really easily without putting alot of stress on the rods and the drill. It also cleans really well as it goes down the vent. One quick pass and all debris were cleaned away. Because of the way my vent is situated I took the top cap off from up on the roof and went down to the stove. Behind my stove there is a cleanout that only have about 2 inches of space between the bottom of the cleanout and the floor. Because I was just a few feet short of extensions to clean my entire vent pipe I finished the last few feet from the bottom and the flexible rods were able to be used in that tight bend without issue. In-fact I am confident I could clean the entire thing from behind the stove even with that sharp bend. Overall a great product. Works really well and very quick and easy. Even the included cleaning brush comes in handy and was not just extra un-needed junk. I use this to clean the chimney pipe for my pellet stove and it works great. Easy to put the sections together and take them apart and it does a great job cleaning the pipe. I use the small hand brush that's included to clean the burn pot, it's the perfect size.

works great in my 4 inch pellet stove pipe . just have to be carfull in the 90 degree bends just have to go slow and eventually gets threw . make sure sure you tape the connections on the rod .

this would be a very practical tool if the sections that screw together had a way to lock in place, and not become disconnected, which happened to me. On section came apart, and stuck in chimney. Lucky for me I was able to get it out without having to call a repair guy. Also, it should have four sections, long enough to cover a 10ft. chimney pipe. ... show more
