  • Fantastic for plush carpet!
FANTASTIC vacuum for lush/thick/long/plush carpet. Long story: We got new carpet for two entire floors of our house and splurged on the quality-soft and thick. However, when we went to vacuum with our old unit, it was nearly impossible to push the thing across the carpet even on the highest setting. So I started researching vacuums specifically for plush carpet. I refused to pay $600 for a flipping vacuum, so we decided to try a soniclean and are so glad we did! It glides across our carpet so easily. It’s performance is wonderful! It even does a decent job on our hardwood and tile floor. Pros: vacuum plush carpet with ease, 1 setting for plush carpets and 1 for hard floors and low pile areas, lightweight but a workhorse Cons: for what you pay for it, there aren’t any hose attachments or anything so it’s not the only vacuum you can have. Would I buy this one again? Definitely yes!!! ... show more

  • Only affordable solution for deep pile carpets - Wife is happy!
We moved into a new house about a year ago. Both the living room and dinning room had beautiful deep pile carpet. Our “tried and true” Oreck did the best it could plowing through the thick pile until we started to smell burning motor! Our only other option was to use the central vac system that came with the house. Talk about a royal PITA! My wife hit max frustration levels over the holidays trying to keep up with the vacuuming. As any good husband that knows - her frustration will flow down hill, so I set out to solve this issue once and for all. After massive amounts of on-line research I finally wound up at the Soniclean website. Another couple of hours researching customer reviews and I thought, what the heck - $400 is cheap if I can make her happy. I wound up ordering the vacuum from Soniclean’s Amazon store since it was the exact same price as on their website and I could get it delivered in 4 days. The vacuum actually arrived a day early! The assembly was completed in less than 5 minutes (super simple). It’s a great looking unit and kind of reminds me of a fancy sports car. But I digress - and off on its maiden voyage it went. I was keenly focused on my wife’s face as she pushed the vacuum across the deep pile carpet. The smile on her face was truly a sight to be seen. The vacuum did a great job and without the struggle of either the Oreck or the central vac. She is 100% happy with the usability and the performance of the new vac. So I’m a hero, at least for the next day or two, and very happy to have solved this problem. The vacuum bags aren’t cheap, approx. $6.00 per bag, so we’ll have to see how that works out long term. And, as with all appliances like this, reliability is key and that will have to be evaluated over time. For now, we are BOTH very happy with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone fighting with deep pile carpets - it will truly change your vacuuming experience. ... show more

  • Keeps on Working
When our self-propelled Hoover vac gave out after a little over 5 years, I was afraid I wouldn't find anything that'd work with our plush carpet. I tried several vacuums from neighbors and family members, but on our carpet they felt like pushing large farm animals. So I gave the comparatively expensive Soniclean a shot and it worked, much to my relief. (I learned too late that Karastan was selling their Soniclean for $300. Same vac except for cosmetic differences.) It's reasonably manageable but sure doesn't get all floaty like the marketing pitch suggests. The self-propelled Hoovers we've used for more than two decades were easier to move on our 1/2" soft pile, but they're no longer manufactured. Anyway, I tried a number of combinations opening the two vents. There wasn't much distinction operating the vacuum between one combo and another. But I was using the "carpet" designated setting rather than the middle setting on the switch titled "carpet/floor." This latter setting doesn't use the fairly loud, sonic. shake-up-the-deep-dirt function. Yet the vacuum became quieter and comfortably easier to maneuver. Moreover, the suction (using a 1 1/2" opening between the two vent sliders) was still surprisingly strong. And I experimented with crumbled crackers, salt, and talcum powder. Sucked each up in one pass. It was even stronger than the 22 lb. Hoover on our flat wool entry rug. (Of course it's a new vacuum cleaner with a new bag.) I do find two irksome elements: (1) the cost of the bags (too bad there's no competition for them in almost-as-effective thick paper such as EnviroCare bags) and (2) the too-long 35' cord, which, when the vauuming is completed you wind and wind and wind.. The above was written in October, 2022, and now in January, 2025 the vac still works as it did when new. I vacuum once a week and have yet to use up the original carton of bags, even though I change out the old one before it fills up to the change-bag line. I change when the bag interior feels coated with dust/dirt. ... show more
