Nothing to do to set it up and it looks great! The waste baskets are a tad smaller than a normal sized kitchen can. My hubby complained that he would have to take out the trash more often.. I kinda like that actually lol. I do like the bags that it came with though, not sure how expensive/timely it will be to restock those since they are not the common size but I guess that’s what subscribe n save is for?? You can still use regular 13 gal bags in it if you want though, we have. There’s a little more extra around the top to tuck in but it’s nothing unsightly if you tuck it in over the edge of the liner and that’s you’re going to sweat over. Wipes clean easily and I like the removable insert to swap out the bags. Defintely love it. I waited a while because this style is always so much more than a plain ole trash can but I’m so happy I finally got one. I added stick-on decals to the lids to indicate which side is which. I am so pleased with this trash can. It has been a life saver, literally, for my 60 pound dog Rosco. We tried a trash can with a locking lid but he would knock the whole thing over and pop the lid off. We attached it to the side of the island and eventually he chewed down the locking mechanism so it was ineffectual. He would rear up on his hind legs, knock the lid off, and drag the bag out with his teeth. We've had several visits to the vet and made him throw up numerous times to get rid of the bad things he's eaten. I hesitated to spend over a a hundred dollars on a trash can but the relief I feel has been worth every penny. Now, some features I like, others have complained about so it depends on what you're looking for. Visually, it is attractive and easy to wipe clean. The bins are smaller than our previous separate trash and recycle cans but that has actually turned out to be an improvement. The smaller capacities make it easier for my children to help out. The recycle side (with no bag) is easy to pull out by the handle and is very light. The trash side (which does use a bag) is trickier to get out because the bag covers the handle. This is a design flaw but one that is easy enough to deal with as it's light enough to maneuver and pull the edge of the bag up. The best part is that it is all one incorporated piece; there is no separate lid to pop off. It is sturdy and heavy enough with a lower center of gravity that my dog cannot tip the whole thing over when it is flush to the counter - or at least he'd have to work much harder! The lids close quietly and are flush to the top of the trash can, something another reviewer disliked but for our purposes is great because there is nothing sticking out for the dog to chew on. As another reviewer noted, stepping quickly on the pedal to lift the lid does result in it banging the counter but I feel that would happen with any similar trash can and was simple to remedy with one of those baby proofing edge guards. I've also adapted to just not stepping on the pedal so hard unless I'm in a hurry. My only hassle is having to find new trash bags that I like in the correct size but this is a price I will happily pay to keep Rosco from eating onions or cooked chicken bones. We've only had it for a couple of weeks so I cannot speak to its longevity but I will report back if it falls apart quickly. Overall, I would definitely recommend and purchase again. ... show more

My only drawback for this is that you need custom bags because normal trash bags don't stay up well... and the trash cans are actually very narrow. Works for a single person household, but if there's more than 2 people, you'll be taking the trash out very frequently.

As a whole I like it although I wish it was a little bit bigger, maybe taller, since when I take my garbage bag out there’s still a lot of room to put more garbage in. I hope the hinges for the lid lasts because I’m not sure of the durability of them. I bought separate trash and recycle decals to put on them and it looks nice. I much prefer this black and stainless look versus a traditional all stainless garbage can. TIP: For putting the garbage bag in and not seeing it from the outside, gather the excess plastic and tuck the bag under the stainless handle that’s attached to the plastic garbage bin inside. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Before opting to purchase this trashcan, my husband and I had the old version of the Joeseph and Joeseph stacked trashcan. They no longer sell that model, and the new model is crazy expensive. Especially in the black color, which we wanted to get to match our appliances. This trashcan has been suitable for our needs, but it does have flaws. The size and capacity of the trashcan and recycling bin are much smaller than our previous. It doesn’t bother me too much, it just means we have to take out the garbage every day, and the recycling every other day. The actual garbage bags are a little bit of an issue too. If you don’t use the bags made for this trashcan, you will have to fight to hide the bag from showing when the lid is closed. Not a big deal to me, but I could see how that would be annoying to some. I really like how the lids of this trashcan do not slam shut, and instead close slowly and delicately. As seen in the video I posted, once your trashcan starts getting full, the lid will not close all the way. And you will be forced to take out the trash bag. This again is not a make or break issue for my husband or I. I like the look of the trashcan, I like that the two compartments are a decent size, and it works. It’s not bad, but it’s not like wow oh my god what an amazing trashcan. It does it’s job you know? It’s reasonably priced and it works. The one thing I will say that’s a bit frustrating is the size of the bags needed. A standard 13 L tall kitchen trash bag is not quite deep enough to reach the bottom of the trashcan. So you have to end up having to buy a 20 L trash bag and mess with the overhang on the top. That’s a bit annoying. Especially if you don’t want to use the bags given with the trashcan. I really like this trashcan but I'm really hoping someone can help me with getting a replacement for one of the inside bins. I accidentally left some food in there and it got super moldy and smelly and i can't get rid of the smell. Thank you.
