  • Exactly what I was looking for
As a mom finding time to go to the gym is close to impossible. I've searched for in home exercise equipment that meets my needs. Most important to me was finding something that was quiet. This bike fits the bill! It is so quiet that last night I was able to watch house of cards with my husband while doing a spin workout with our son sleeping in his room. No one was disturbed by the noise! I've had my bike on a trainer in the back yard for a few months but it mostly sat there because it was so loud! Next, I needed something that was stable. I hurt my knee so I've taken to biking instead of running or doing the elliptical. I've managed to fall off my bike on the trainer a few times getting on and off. This bike is stable. It is SOLID! It is so heavy (but easy to wheel around my tiled floors). It's really a quality product. I needed something with a computer to provide feedback about my exercise. Additionally most spin routines ask you to keep a cadence (or range). This bike has a computer which seems reliable (I am not so sure about the calorie output but the rest seemed reasonable). I'll wear my polar HR strap next time and comment possibly about the calorie output on the bike. The computer is easy to use and easy to set up. Speaking of set up. This bike was pretty easy to put together! My husband and I did it in about 30 minutes. It did take a while to get it out of the packaging. It was really stuck in there. Speaking of the packaging I had read before I bought this bike that it often came damaged from shipping. FedEx delivered our box open with holes in the box. It was clearly banged up. However, despite that the bike and everything was in perfect condition. We did have the speed sensor occasionally hitting the fly wheel but that was a small adjustment that we made. The styrofoam did its job in the packaging and I was shocked the bike was in such great condition. FedEx asked me if I wanted to refuse it - I am glad I didn't. Obviously I could have just gotten lucky but the bike did seem to be secured and protected despite damage to the cardboard box. I decided not to put the bike computer in the location as suggested by the instructions but rather put it lower on the handle bars. By doing this I can rest my ipad on the handle bars. I also have attached my iphone (which has spin class apps on it) to the bike using a Brica Phone Pod (http://www.amazon.com/Brica-64012-Phone-Pod-Gray/dp/B005SPZG6K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1393784251&sr=8-2&keywords=stroller+iphone). All in all I am overjoyed with this purchase. I did a lot of research to try and make sure I bought a quality quiet bike and I feel like I have succeeded with this purchase. ... show more

  • Truly a BEST buy!
I have had the bike now for 6 months. There is rarely a day that goes by that at least one of us is not on the bike. Typical ride is 45 minutes. We are also avid outdoor road cyclists. Where we live, traffic makes riding outside after work dangerous, so this has been a GREAT option. Previously we used an old road bike on a trainer. I simply quit using it because it took too long to change the bike - I am 5'9" and my wife is 5'3". I am glad to be able to cycle daily again. Surprisingly there are numerous mediocre and poor reviews. Primarily they center on: lack of usefulness of the resistance knob. Some complain it does not work. Neither did mine. In shipping, the wire between the magnet and the tension knob may come apart. Simply remove the bodywork and place the wire back in the receiver. It takes about 5 minutes to remove the body work and 10 seconds to fix the wire. I called Sole and they stayed on the phone while I did this. That was the only problem. The other complaints were about how far you had to turn the knob to notice an increase in resistance. That is true and I think its a benefit. It takes about 10 full turns to go from ridiculously easy to Col de Tourmalet hard. Plenty of settings in between. NOT like a cheap, noisy spin bike with only a few settings... One said it was too heavy. Why didn't you read the specs before you bought it? The heavy flywheel also makes it durable, quiet, efficient, and have a great range. You're probably never going to move it anyway. If you need something that goes in and out of a closet - this is not for you. Some said it was a lengthy process to reset the monitor. I guess if you call pressing the right button while the unit sits on total time for 3 seconds lengthy... This is a great piece of equipment and was nearly half the price of the Keiser - the only other I would consider after MUCH research. I expect this to be more heirloom than disposable. There really aren't many things made like this anymore. CONS: Not a portable machine - it needs a permanent home. The monitor unit could be more robust, but if you're serious, you probably already have some Garmin device you are going to use anyway. PROS: Should be able to leave this in your will to someone. Virtually maintenance free. Extremely quiet. You really won't need to raise the volume on your TV while you watch the Tour de France on your DVR. Incredible range of resistance adjustment. Ability to pedal backwards with resistance (like on an elliptical) and exercise different muscles. You change out the pedals and seat just like on your outside bike easily. And the best of all - it takes about 20 seconds to make 4 adjustment to go from my wife to me (there are marks on the sliding elements, but we highlighted them in permanent marker for old eyes) I would give it a 6, but 5 is as high as it goes ... show more

  • Decent, comfortable bike
Color: Sole B94 Stationary Upright Bike
I ride MTB during the season and bought the Sole B94 for off-season cardio maintenance. It's a decent, comfortable bike, but it's a little overpriced for what it is and has a minor build quality issue. The saddle leans to one side, so I slid a washer underneath the saddle support bar to raise one side and level it. It's an easy fix that shouldn't be necessary at this price. Also, the saddle that comes with it is definitely not made for men, so I swapped my Ergon SM Comp onto the B94, and it's much better. The saddle clamp that comes with the bike is annoying because either the saddle is pitched too far down or too far up; you can't level the saddle front-to-back (which is how I ride MTB). I'm going to try a Brompton Pentaclip (or a similar alternative) to try and rectify this, but those are expensive and for the price of the bike, I shouldn't have to spend more money. However, if you're looking for an indoor bike that doesn't have you in the spinning position, this is a good option. The ride is smooth and ultra quiet, and the interface is simple but informative. And it picks up my Polar Verity Sense HRM instantly. I would give it 5 stars if it weren't for the saddle leaning issue I'm having. ... show more
