Solar Sun Rings are passive solar swimming pool heating devices, constructed from two layers of U.V. resistant vinyl. The upper clear layer directs the suns rays onto the bottom blue layer which absorbs about 50% of the sunlight, converting it to heat. The remaining sunlight filters through the ring into your pool water.

    • Very expensive, but seem to be effective
Update: After having them on the pool for a year, I took them off. It’s dusty in Arizona, so they collected dust and became unsightly. I don’t think that is the fault of the rings, just the combination of a dusty environment, infrequent rain, and I found that I don’t need the solar covers. We generally swim in the summer when the pool is a good temperature without the rings. In the cooler months, we’ll heat it for specific events (family in town) but that’s it. So any solar cover wasn’t providing much value and we love the look of the pool without anything on it. I deducted a stars for two reasons, the first is they are really expensive. Second is they can be a bit much to handle. They can be a bit unwieldy when taking them out of the pool, draining the water, and then you have to make sure they're in the shade or covered to prevent them from cooking themselves in a stack. As others have indicated, proper inflation of the outer ring is important for them to connect properly (and not blow away). The inner inflation is important so the material sits on the water and doesn't get submerged. When the sun is out, it does appear to impact the temps a degree or two. I'm in the Phoenix area and the pool is in the low 60's without heating (air temp goes from low 40's at night to 60/70's in the day). Truthfully, I'm not thrilled with the visual graphic and is probably a reason for deducting a star too. On the plus side, I believe they're less of a safety hazard than a contiguous cover. If someone fell in, they'd likely be able to surface and get out of the pool without trouble. ... show more

    • It Does Help Heat Your Pool...If You Can Keep Them On Your Pool!
Pros: The concept of this product is good. It does seem to warm the water like a bubble cover. Cons: Unfortunately, keeping these rings on your pool is a real problem, even with a slight breeze. I have to go out every day and either "unfold" the ones that took on the shape of a taco shell and gather up the rings that blew off the pool and put them back on the water. So far I only have 1 ring that won't hold air. However, this is quite possibly the solution to keeping the rings on the pool because it lays flat on the water. So, would I purchase them again? NO! They are overpriced, but being that I have a free-form pool, which is hard to get a bubble cover on and off of, it seemed liked a good idea at the time. After reading numerous reviews and debating whether or not I wanted to buy something that seemed overpriced, I ended up buying a total of 15 rings. I was hoping that it was worth paying more than twice the price of a bubble cover for the ease of taking it on and off the pool. Well, here is my opinion on the whole matter: The rings are easy to inflate but you can't overinflate them or else they won't sit flat on your pool. Then they would either blew onto each other, blow off of the water, or bows enough to resemble a "taco shell", with the slightest wind. These rings are WAY overpriced and more resemble cheap blow-ups that one would buy for $3.00 to float around the pool on, not the $25-$30 each you're gouged for. I read many reviews that a large ratio of these rings get holes in them either immediately or soon after purchase. So far I have only had 1 out of the 15 do this. I haven't taken the time to try and patch it yet so I have no opinion on the patch kit. Here is GREAT NEWS! ........ Yes, my water IS warmer. These rings DO seem to do what they're intended to do, provided that you can keep them on top of the water. Considering their price and material and that they blow around too easily. I would only rate these rings with 1 star. But I have discovered an INEXPENSIVE HOME-MADE ANCHOR that is simple to make and that truly works to hold down your solar rings in light winds. Follow these instructions to construct Home-made anchoring kits (and you can thank me later). 1. Purchase a roll of ½" black flexible drip irrigation tubing and ½" barbed x 1/2" barbed couplings (not 90's), enough for all the rings you need. 2. Cut off a section of the tubing approximately 12' 6" long. 3. Insert a coupling into one end of the tubing section. 4. Place the end of this tubing at a downward angle into your pool water, displacing all air out of the tubing until completely filled with water (it shouldn't float if full of water). 5. With both ends submerged in the water, connect the other end of the tubing to the coupling. 6. Place the anchor onto the solar ring. The total cost of these anchors was about $30 for 15 rings. It was worth the additional investment to get them to stay on my pool. ... show more

    • They work!
Ok so not yet summer here yet, late spring, temps are in the 70's and these rings keep the pool around 4 degrees warmer than normal. You just have to make sure you follow the instructions like everyone else says on here! Inflate them correctly and make sure you maintain the correct inflation! These rings are awesome and so good to get more of a swim out of our pool earlier in the day. The big difference is that most days our pool starts off between 70 and 74 degrees, so normally by around 1 or 2pm it is naturally around 78 - 82, well now of course with the rings the pool retains heat at night so the temp starts off in the morning at 74-78, so by around 11am it is already 80 plus, and by around 1 or 2pm it is 84 to 86. Will save big $ with these over the summer and extend our swim time for sure both in more hours in the day and extend our swim season no doubt. We bought ten pack and our pool is 30 feet long, covers probably only 60% of our pool, so we will get another 3 - 5 rings rings and that should cover more of the pool and we should expect even better results. Haven't found the wind to be an issue, they all stay put, none flip over and they magnets all bring them together naturally. Taking them out each time for a swim and putting them back is a bit of a pain but worth it, you have to be careful with them, we pile them up beside pool all one on top of each other, overall great purchase! ... show more

inflate the outer ring 1st then add air to the inner air bubbles do not overinflate air bubbles or it wont lay flat looks nice and does raise the water temp i am very satisfied
