  • Placement.
As advertised. Does get very hot very quickly. And be sure it’s not reflecting by the control knob - melted mine.

  • Dont Waste Your Time. Very Flimsy.
I decided to get a heat reflector after seeing one at my friend's house. I ended up buying this as it was cheaper than the one he had and figured it had good reviews so I should give it a shot. I was wrong. These reviews must've been written by their friends or something because I was shocked at what showed up on my doorstep. The thing is tiny. Much shorter than the one I had seen. The metal was super thin and flimsy. it bends in all different directions. Not sure what metal they actually used. The accordion style hinges the used not only looks cheap, but felt like they would break if I used it a few times. Also the clamps felt like they were going to break off. They were so flimsy. They even sent a replacement clamp. I knew right then and there this was garbage. I returned it right away. I knew this wouldn't work for me. Ridiculous. Save your time and energy. ... show more

  • Dangerous Product! Use with extreme caution!
This was an impulse buy. I noticed it while looking for something else and thought it seemed like it might be a good idea. When it arrived I felt a little foolish. It's pretty expensive and I think a piece of tinfoil might work just as well; but I decided to try it out. Installation required attaching 4 clips with nuts and bolts and clipping the reflector to the rim of the heat reflector. The clips didn't hold so well at first, but eventually I got it to hold. I was a little concerned about trapping the heat coming off my heater but I left it for about 15-20 minutes. When I checked on it surprise!- the knob on the burner was melting! I quickly shut the heater off, removed this contraption, and decided to never use it again. Perhaps if it were rotated opposite the knob there would be no melting, but I'm not going to try. I think if it were safe the original manufacturer might offer it, but they don't. I think it's a bad idea- use with caution! ... show more

  • Save your money and time. Very poorly made and ugly.
Once the package arrived I was already skeptical. And when I took the product out, it was even worse. Product was flimsy, poorly made, and cheap-just bad overall. I decided to give it a try regardless of all that and couldn't bare to look at it hanging from our patio heater. After a few minutes, the metal got really warm and started to deform. Don't waste your money and time with this purchase. Not functional. ... show more

  • Good concept but needs improvement
Here’s everything you need to know before you order this. First of all they actually work in reflecting heat. I was skeptical that I would actually feel a difference but it’s pretty obviously moving more heat toward one side of the heater and less heat toward the back. That’s actually what compelled me to write this review. The concept is great. You can really feel more heat and save propane. This can therefore really be a winning product. The execution however is lacking in many regards. I’m writing this review in hopes to help fix some of these issues because people may be willing to pay a little more to get something worth keeping. Issues regarding quality: I ordered two and both showed up with scratches and dents. I could understand if this happened with one but two is not really acceptable. Perhaps the material is a bit too thin? Feels like heavy duty foil. This won’t last too long in almost any real world environment. Also one of the two I have already came apart a week into use and was dangling on the heater. I had to remove it so it doesn’t fall on someone (see photo). The hinges are a weak point and could use some re-engineering. I just saw a one piece version of a heat reflector also available on Amazon. Perhaps that’s a better option? Or perhaps this one was just defective? The other one of the two I ordered is still installed and working as promised. Size is also a weak point. It’s nowhere near as big as the picture suggests on Amazon. It’s practically false advertising. I could easily see how this would work much better if it were just a little bit bigger. It would probably be perfect if was as big it looks in the picture on Amazon. As is, while a noticeable amount of heat is being reflected, I could still feel substantial heat traveling toward the other side of the heater behind this reflector which suggests that there is room for improvement regarding size. Clamps: The clamps are pretty basic clips like those you would use to hang clothes or a poster. You need to use a screw driver and a wrench to install the included L brackets on each panel of the reflector. The L brackets are the link between the clamps and the reflector to hold it all in place. Once the whole thing was assembled I was able to place it on my heater and noticed the clamps are a bit small. It took some tinkering to get them to stay secure and I would not trust them to hold the reflector on the heater in any bit of wind. Larger clamps could help solve that and give more peace of mind that it won’t just fall off. Overall thoughts: I think this is a good concept but a poor execution for this product. I would recommend looking for one that’s a bit bigger and perhaps a bit sturdier. Also if you get one be sure to install it on the other side of the control knob of your heater. The instructions for this product didn’t mention this this but I found that it could be dangerous to have the reflector on the same side as the control knob because the knob may get too hot to touch after having the heater on for a while with this installed. • A solid heat reflector - warm and happy.
Took a gamble on it, since there were no reviews when I bought it, but it turned out well. It seems to work well, since you can tell the difference between the side of the heater with it and one without it. Covers about a 1/3 of the large disc perimeter, which is ideal for how I use the heater. It also folds up to a small size which is nice for storage. It uses spring clamps to attach to the top shield, which makes it easy and perfect for removing it so I can put the cover on the heater. ... show more

  • Neat idea. Poor construction.
Item was poorly constructed. Pins connecting sections were loose/could easily fall out. Clamps had to be turned and I was worried would snap off. Returned item before using.

  • It works...almost too good!
Easy to attach and this reflector definitely works. Packaging should come with a warning though....The reflector must be attached to your patio heater only on the opposite side to the on/off heat control knob. Otherwise the knob will start melting in under one minute....like mine! Only reason I am giving this a 4.0 is the lack of warning on this because it could result in damage to the controls or worse, a bad burn to your fingers if the knob was molten hot. Simply install it on the opposite side to the on/off knob and all will be well. ... show more
