Coming from the SLK Halo 16mm Control elongated paddle, I felt it was time for an upgrade as my skills have improved. The SLK Era Power Elongated turned out to be the perfect match. It provides noticeably more spin, pop, and power while still allowing me to maintain great control over my shots. It did take about a week or two to fully adjust to the new feel and added power, but once I did, the difference was clear. The paddle feels responsive, solid, and reliable whether I'm driving the ball or playing softer shots at the kitchen. Overall, it’s a fantastic step up for players looking to add more power to their game without sacrificing control. I’m loving it so far!

I recently fell into the pickleball rabbit hole thanks, or no thanks, to some family members. We reserve a court every Tuesday at Chicken N Pickle. Not knowing anything about paddles I went to my local big box sporting goods store to look them over. I figured spending at least a hundred bucks should get me a respectable paddle. I certainly didn't want to show up to the multi-court complex sporting a twenty dollar paddle. I chose an ONIX Hype X for about ninety bucks plus tax. I liked the longer handle. As mentioned, I knew nothing about paddles but it seemed to be a good, solid paddle and my brother liked using it too. My brother then decided to buy an expensive Selkirk paddle, you know the black and red one with the cutout at the bottom of the paddle face and no plastic rim. I was looking to upgrade myself because after several weekly sessions I was enjoying myself and I was certain that all pickleballers have more than one paddle, amirite? I didn't want to copycat my brother and purchase the same paddle but secretly I liked it and I coveted it. I knew I wanted a Selkirk so I hit the Amazon to search for what, I don't know, just something Selkirk. After landing on this SLK ERA several times throughout my search I decided that was the one for me. Wouldn't you know it, my brother tried it, loved it then bought the same danged paddle. Copycat. Like I said, I don't know anything about paddles. I can't give you specs or comparisons on power or sweet spots or any of that. Frankly I'm not even sure why you are still reading this. All I know is this seems like a pretty darned good paddle. I will say that it's a bit harder to clean with Paddle Reset. I'm sure the Reset removes most, if not all the ball particulates but paddle face will still look somewhat well used.

I have not use the paddle yet but I have demoed one from my tennis club and I liked the demo that’s why bought this. It gives me better control and better power. The description said it’s for an intermediate player which I am not! I am a beginner still taking lessons but I feel this paddle has the right weight which in turn gives me better control! The grip is good and just right for my two handed backhand! I think it’s a good price considering how expensive paddle are these days! Overall I hope this paddle will perform like the one I demoed! I only gave this four stars because I haven’t used it yet! I will use this paddle and may come back and give it five stars!

If you are on the fence about buying the ERA vs Boomstick, try the ERA first. It's an excellent all-court paddle with plenty of power. And the price is far less than the Boomstick.

Love my new paddle. I'm a 3.5 - 3.75 level player and have been playing with another Selkirk for several years but this one has a little bit longer handle and more power. I'm working on a two-handed backhand and with big hands it's easier to get both hands on the grip. It has nice grit as well, so i get lots of topspin for my serve, drives and lobs--yet still has good feel for dink rallies.

Looks stunning. Power tho? Not so much. Very disappointed. Will be adding some weights to the top and the paddle and will revise if it helps. The paddle face is covered in ball residue, so I would say the grit is top notch but this is supposed to be for power not spin. Handle and length are perfect. Feel is too soft, have to relearn grip and angle for drop shots. Overheads, lack power Sound of the ball striking is awesome
